PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Tammie- I love the Tudor period too! I think I have read all the books and conspiracy theories on all his wives & Mary/Elizabeth. I have visited Hampton Court. And Tower of London. I watch all the movies/TV shows regarding it....

Just recently watching the Other Boleyn Girl.

Fascinating period indeed. I recommend Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies a lot bc they are of the best books I've read recently and they really bring it to life. Hampton Court so lovely!

That said my favorites are England and Japan

I admit I have never gone to USA -- is that bad? I feel it's a little weird bc I live and work in Annapolis area and it's all real here - and two hours from Philly so I skip it. I will go this time and spend more time in the different nations. I may have missed a lot based on your comments. Too busy standing in line for a ride or food;)

I did it! First 5am wake up call this morning. Run was actually really nice. It's amazing how refreshing it can be when it's still relatively cool. I downloaded the "Go You Chicken Fat Go" song that's featured in a commercial right now. DH asked me last night in bed, did you set your alarm so I had to do it. Sadly, I couldn't sleep last night and was till up at 3:45, but I still got up and did it! 14:40 splits and 14:29 mm avg pace. Not too shabby. Now to repeat getting up tomorrow!

Get it girl!

I've switched to AM running as well since I've insanely started a 5:45 am swim class on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays as moral support for a friend of mine who's doing a sprint triathlon in three weeks. So, in order to keep my world in balance, I've been doing my maintenance runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays around 5:15am and long runs on Saturday mornings at about 6:30am. I had to pull out my Road ID blinky light since my first mile is in the dark, but I love seeing my Fitbit with a red bar on the step-o-meter (6,666+ steps) before 6am! And its also nice to be a total slacker after work - until my 8:30pm bedtime anyway.

Great job getting out there GRETCHEN...I think that calls for some cupcakes!

I love the books by Phillipiana Gregory...she wrote the Other Boleyn Girl...of course the books are so much better than the movie. I love her whole series on Henry's wives! If I remember correctly she wrote one about his first wife where in the end they ended up back together...

Thanks...I think I am going to see if I can get them for my Ipad...reading on the way to Europe! WAHOO...I needed some new titles.

I love the singers inside...and I have only seen the actual attraction show one time...sad I know...but I do love the funnel cakes...does that count?

Hey I do my short and long runs just about the same time as you and the same days...now I can think "HEY ANDREAH IS OUT THERE." If I had to run in the evenings all the time I would so be a slacker...if it does not get done before 5 pm...it aint getting done at my house!

Great job! Keep it up!! I would have a hard time getting up at 5am after going to bed at 345am, but you rock!! :thumbsup2

I am a morning runner too. Now that kids are out of school, I am usually out by 6am for short & long runs.

I finally got out for run this week. I was only about 10 minutes in to it and it started raining! I had the baby in the jogging stroller, so I couldn't just stay out in it. When he went for a nap I finished my run, slowly. Hopefully I will get up early in the morning and get it done before DH leaves for work.

I'm late, but as for the Wednesday Wondering, I have neglected the World Showcase too much, so I don't have an opinion. :( I always have kids with me that are bored or ready to go. Last summer on our trip the kids were ready to go but I refused to leave without watching Illuminations. So my mom (love her!) took the kids back to the hotel and I stayed with the baby. It was funny, he loved the fireworks at only 4 months old.

It was light enough for me to be seen fortunately, but it was nice to be able to do my whole run without sunglasses! I am jealous you can go to bed at 8:30!

Well those look pretty delicious! Good thing they're a virtual reward! :lmao:

Thanks! I didn't make it up at 5am today though is the bad thing. The neighbors set off fireworks at 10pm and woke up both kids so we had to get them all back to sleep. Then one came into our room with an accident at 1am. Ugh. Just couldn't drag myself out of bed. I'll go for a walk with the kids today though. Tomorrow I'll be able to get out for my run in the morning. DH and I will have to switch off running. (He's training for the WDW marathon so we both have to get runs in!)

That is one of the reasons I have to get up at 5am to run. I have to do it before DH leaves for work since I don't have a double stroller...and I'm not sure I could run very far pushing both the 4 year old and the 6 month old! :rotfl: Hey, even 10 minutes is better than none, although I know it's frustrating to get out and not finish. My kids enjoy the Kidcot stations in Epcot so that's how I get a little Epcot in to my trips.

Cupcake Friday
(As if just being Friday was not sweet enough)

Dulce de Leche
Contemporary - Contempo Cafe

We have explored the cupcakes of MK, GF, and POLY…time to ride that monorail loop over to the Contemporary Resort for another treasure trove of cupcakes to share and drool over until we can have the real thing…

Dulce de Leche

This cupcake is a vanilla cupcake piled high with sweet creamy caramel frosting...again not the buttery, lard-y frosting that you would expect but lighter and creamier. I love the chocolate shavings and topper...although I am puzzled as why you would decorate this cupcake with chocolate.

Of course we have to explore the inside of a Disney Cupcake...because inside is even more caramel goodness. The frosting layer goes all the way through the cupcake-even under the actual filling. Maybe to keep the cupcake from getting soggy?! But this is a Dulce de Leche cake, so it is supposed to be "wet." I did find a couple reviews on the cupcake...

"Overall, the cupcake was good, but doesn’t top my list. The taste was sweet and a bit two-dimensional; it was more “store-bought cupcake” when I wanted spectacular."

"This is the best cupcake I have ever had!!!! We got one of these with a remaining snack credit on our last day. We shared it with our kids on the way home in the van — I do not recommend eating it in the vehicle! It was a pure slice of heaven for all of us. It was huge and the four us split it without going in to a sugar coma!! On our next trip, we are already planning on getting lots of these to have during our trip!"

My thoughts...while I like the sound of this cupcake, I am wondering if it will be too much caramel for me. I love Dulce de Leche cakes, though...

Your thoughts????

Boo for the rain...once you get a routine set you should be fine (without the rain...it messed up my Wednesday 5K Walk day). I find that when I get in some sort of a schedule that I can let go of everything else around me and plan a little better.

Good for you staying behind and getting to see Illuminations. I love fireworks of all kinds...Maybe this trip you will get some time to explore WS...funny it was my then 10 year old sons favorite place and the youngest son, who was 6, loved all the Kidcot Stations!

I would split this if I'm not totally full....

I like carmal . I especially love sea salted Carmel in chocolate. Delche stuff usually underwhelms me though. So I'd try it if not full and I could split. Maybe just try a bite of someone elses......

When are you going to start posting cupcakes that I DO NOT want, Tammie? I'm not sure how I'm going to choose between all the ones that I want. I LOVE LOVE LOVE caramel, so I'll have to try this. :thumbsup2

Good thing I'm attending this thing with Karen. She's getting this cupcake so I can try a bite AND she spelled caramel right- unlike myself.

Tweedles got my back.

I'm surprised I spelled it right but then again, I have spell check here. I don't SAY it right though, I say CARMEL.

Who else says CARMEL VS. CARAMEL?? (interesting that it still doesn't say either of those are spelled incorrectly???)

but TWEEDLE is apparently not a word. :p

Well..ahem.. I also have spell check and still managed to spell it wrong.

Of course it's CAR-MEL. Do people really put an -A- in there when they pronounce it? No one I know does... Maybe CAR-MEL is a Midwest thing..like pop? Now I'm curious.

I got up early today! It actually went really well. I usually don't do well on early morning runs, but I was actually faster than normal! This bodes well for me for race day. :)

I will have to try out the Kidcot stations next time. No one was interested in stopping to check out anything, not even the Phineas and Ferb spy thing.

I love fireworks too! Especially at WDW. They are the best.

Um, yes please! I'm not in to fruity desserts, so pretty much anything with chocolate is good with me!

So, this morning I casually mention to DH that I will have to register for this race on 7/15 because it sells out so quickly. He asked when the race is and I reply 2/22. He says, "oh, that's close to the time of the Wild Game Dinner." Our church has put this on for the last 2 years and next year they want DH to be the speaker. They are trying to move the date up a week which would be better for me. But if it is at the same time I will have to wait til Friday to leave. :/ This is still doable, just puts me at a bit of a disadvantage time wise.

Karen & Nicole you kill me....:lmao: I always have to stop and think about how to spell CARAMEL...stupid A!

And for the record I believe you did not like a couple of the coconut ones or lemons ones I posted...

Thank goodness we narrowed this cupcake crawl down to a couple of resorts...and getting our cupcake fills while we are actually in parks on our own for the ones we want to try there...which are not a lot.

I am still waiting for the BOOZE research. Sugar high needs a buzz to go with it...remember we are trying to numb the pain of running!

Brandy...Hope you can get the game dinner worked out! I forget who is coming with you?
