PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Epcot Must Do's:
- all the thrill rides
- LOVE food + wine fest

And once in a blue moon:
- Maelstrom while tipsy (The trees have faces... far out maaaaan!)

We are so in trouble in WS! :rotfl2: We see faces!!!

I don't understand, why is the Glass Slipper Challenge $20 more than booking the two races individually?

I've booked our hotel! Boardwalk one bedroom villa. And I went for my first run with the baby in the running stroller. SLOOOOOWWWWW.

Here are our plans. Could anyone comment on whether we are missing any fun race thing or any of this is potentially not going to work out?

Thursday 6pm arrival - Epcot, dinner at Tepan Edo, Fantasmic
Friday - Magic Kingdom, Crystal Palace breakfast, tea at Grand Floridian
Saturday - 10k run with my girl, Magic Kingdom, dinner at Be Our Guest, Wishes if it is not too late?
Sunday - Half marathon!, Breakfast for Eveie at Cape May Cafe, pedi afterwards for us at the Grand Floridian
Monday - morning by the pool and home.

Congrats on BW...my favorite place! I think the tea and the pedi sound heavenly! I might be a little worried about wishes on Saturday night...Sunday is an early wake up call for PHM! Love CP breakfast. Remember you also need to get the expo put into your schedule.

You get a second medal and t-shirt for doing glass slipper. Total you'll get 3 medals and 3 shirts :)

That is what I thought the extra cost was for...I love having experienced PHM cupcakes along to keep us straight!

Hello Cupcake Friends :)!! I have a question I'm hoping the veterans can help me with!! My cousin and I have begun running with hopes of running the Glass Slipper Challenge. Traveling will be she & I, both of our mothers and my 2 kiddos (DS8 & DD5). My aunt has been trying to lose weight and has set her goal to Royal Family 5K . . . .walking. . . .I assumed that being a "family" event that the 16 mm pace was not enforced but in further research, looks like they still enforce it for the 5K.

My mother and aunt neither one are active, so walking would be the only option for them and also my kiddos who love to run and play, I'm just not sure if they could maintain a 16 mm pace for 3.1 miles . . .

Did anyone walk the 5K last year and do you know if stictly enforced the pace time? I think we could easily maintain a 18-19 mm pace but just not sure if we could acheive the 16 mm pace as a group . . .

Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! TIA!!

They are very lenient at the 5k. I volunteered at the RF5K this year and we had everything from Olympic speed runners to toddlers toddling. You should be fine.

Good point about wishes. Maybe we will move that to Sunday night. What do they have at the expo?

The expo is where you pick up your bibs and shirts. They also have a LOT of vendors selling everything you need for running plus an area of Run Disney merchandise

Amy (shocky5)

Real life side: I'm a 42 (for about 6 more weeks) year old wife and mother of 3. I have an adorable husband named Eddie (44) and our kids are Erin (16), Nolan (13), and Nate (11). I am a high school science teacher who has been slowly creeping towards her masters in school counseling. I'm happy to announce that I'm officially going to achieve that goal Sept. 19th, 2014. For those of you that met me during the 2011 Christmas trip planning days (Tammie, Susan, Heather, Betsy) you will recall that I was hoping to be done way back when! But life intervenes and I had to scale it back a bit but no regrets! My life is hectic and crazy. No other way to put it. My husband is also a high school teacher and a coach. He coaches football and baseball which translates into "no off season." He's amazing and is definitely doing what he was meant to do in life. He doesn't measure his success on wins and losses but simply on helping these young men become better equipped for life. This year, however, his baseball team was class 4A state runners-up, he was named 'coach of the year' by several state organizations, and I couldn't be more proud of him. In between his sports seasons, our daughter Erin plays basketball and runs track. We've recently added cross country to our high school so this upcoming school year will be her first shot at that sport. Erin will be starting her junior year which absolutely blows my mind. More about her in the 'running side' of this intro. Nolan is going to be in the 8th grade and plays football, basketball, and baseball. Nate will begin middle school as a 6th grader and also plays football, basketball, and baseball. One of these days, I'm going to figure out how many days, hours, that my rear-end has been planted in a stadium somewhere either cheering on a child or the hubs. :goodvibes

All of that being said, it's easy to tell you that "I lose sight of myself." I've had a desire to run Disney and have just simply not made the time for myself to go do it. I battle the jobs I 'think' I need to be doing at home with actually doing something that is 'all about me.' Hopefully, that's going to change this time around. :wizard:

Disney side: The PHM will be my 7th time to the world. My family and I actually just returned from WDW a couple of weeks ago. I love WDW and am anxious to see it from the RunDisney side. This will be a first for me.

Running side: There's some experience here but it's been hit and miss for a very long time! I used to coach cross country up until the birth of our 3rd child. I made the decision it was time to let my hubby be the coach and I would commit to chasing him with our kids. It's always been a lot of fun! I've dabbled with getting back into running and typically get a 'good start' and then life gets busy and I just STOP. I've made myself commit to an exercise program this summer (kicked it off with the miles of walking at WDW) and have continued. I'm giving myself up to July 15th (race day registration) to be fully immersed and in the routine. Good news is Eddie is fully on board which is helpful. Eases my irrational beliefs of feeling selfish. ;) At one time, Tammie and I both wanted our daughters to come to the PHM with us for a mother/daughter trip. Because of the dates of the PHM, it continuously falls on my daughter's first round basketball playoffs. While my arrival date is still to be decided, I'm prepared to miss this one game to do this for me. Eddie says he can be there for the both of us. :lovestruc I just have to get past my own feelings. With it being Erin's junior year, the reality has struck that I really have her for about 2 more years. She is a great young lady and I love being her mom. 18 months ago, she blew her knee out, resulting in a total reconstruction of her ACL, MCL, and meniscus. While this adversity brought a whole new set of life lessons to her (and her mom and dad), she has surpassed the expectations of many. Erin is a good basketball player but she's a phenomenal runner. After her surgery, she went through 6 months of rehabilitation, won a starting spot on her varsity basketball team and then won state in the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles... yes... she hurdles. I prayed every single race for her health and pretty sure I never took a breath. So SOME DAY, I hope she and I can run Disney together with the rest of you cupcake runners! But for now... it's just me!

I will be training with the Galloway program and I'm definitely in it for the finish and friends! It's not about time for me... it's not about the vanity... it's about the friendships, cupcakes, and celebration of each other.

WAHOO my 2nd "TWEEDLE" has finally arrived!!!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

I used the dancing banana, Karen & Nicole. I so rarely use them but this calls for celebration.

Amy and I met several years ago, and living 6 hours apart you would think by now we would have gotten together...but each of us having 3 active children...they like to mess up plans including ToT this past fall. But I have been working really hard to lure her into our cupcake grip! I think I have about drowned her in frosting so she might not get away this time...plus sending her lots of pictures of AKL as well as promising her things like Tonga Toast and Ohana (so she can get a little taste of her Disney home...the POLY).

Amy is amazing and a true friend and cupcake. She is always there to pick me up when I seem to run into stale cupcakes...of the horror :scared1: of anyone letting a cupcake get stale! But if they were a TRUE cupcake to begin with they would not have gotten stale!

We have secretly, or maybe not so secretly called ourselves the evil stepsisters...NO TRULY EVIL BONES in our bodies but what fun characters they are at WDW, not so much in the movie! But if you have encountered these two you will find them to be a hoot to be around. I like to think we are a hoot too!

Debra who is a lot like both of us and has quickly become a tweedle to me...must be that she lives 1/2 way between the 2 of us! So now we have to come up with a Disney Trio...HELP!

Yay! Welcome new cupcakes.

Let me know when y'all are doing O'hana. I will totally join you. It's my favorite. Yummy

You are more than welcome to join us...waiting to find out when Amy is going to arrive...because Ohana means family and I can't go without her and my other traditional cupcakes (AND MY NEW FLAVORED CUPCAKES). It was a meal we had planned together for ToT and then the trip blew apart...and there was no way I could go without them so I am happy to get happy with a Lapu Lapu and good friends!

I'm so glad your Tweedle arrived. It's so fun & important to have a Tweedle! :goodvibes

Hi Amy!!! Sniper Amy.

I love, love, love the three fairies. Did you see that Kelly lady who runs all the Disney races (she has a blog)- she put together a super cute three fairy costume. I think if you google 'run Disney, Kelly, fairy' you might find it.

Now I have 2 tweedles...Amy and Debra. I have been so amazed this week PMing with Debra on FB how much we are alike...and Amy will be the perfect compliment for both of us!

Debra and I talked about the 3 fairies back a few months ago as maybe a 5K costume. But I think Amy is only doing PHM...and I have my costume for that one picked out...but maybe I could do that for the 10K. ???? Have to talk now with the 2 of them and see if they want to go matching...

Tweedle is a loose term with loose quantities. Can be applied to any kindred spirit. (in true Anne of Green Gables style.. it was you, right, that loved that book as well?)

I'm getting Karen a shirt and forcing her to wear it around the park. It will say.. "You are the Dee to my Dum"

Hahahaha, I totally just came up with that right now. I clearly need to go to bed.

Edited to say.. um.. I guess that would be MY shirt not Karen's. I told you I need to go to bed. Hers would say "You are the Dum to my Dee" Also, that sounds like a new rap song. I'm gonna write it.

Did you write up an introduction and I missed it? I want to make sure we add you to the cast of characters if you want to be added!

Come on...get running! We are here to cheer you on! I have to run early in the morning too...I hate getting up but once I do and finish the run I am happy with myself for getting it done!

I don't think I knew I was supposed to...or that I knew I was cool enough to! :rotfl: I can write one up! What do I need to do?

I have got to get off the couch, or out of bed, and get moving! Pre kids I used to work out in the morning before work so I really shouldn't use them as my excuse should I!

Yes it was I that adores Ann of Green Gables...and you are right so fitting. All of the traditional cupcakes are kindred spirits or tweedles...they each hold a special place for me!

That is a test of true friendship!!!

I need bed too...DD is out on a date so I have another hour to wait up for her. UGH...but I get the bed to myself this weekend :banana: dh took off for a long fishing weekend with his cousins at our cabin in New Mexico...oh the little pleasures in life to have the bed to myself! My luck a kid will end up in it at one point!

Look at the first page for some examples...we want to know about your personal side, Disney side, and running side! I will be happy to add you if you want! Always cool enough to be a cupcake...just have to believe in yourself, not take running too serious and have a good time while supporting each other...

MY DH is up in Canada this week fishing as well. Must be fishing week.

He facetimed home today and had a huge cut in his hand. Apparently there was some lure accident. Sheesh.

Even when hubby is not in the bed, there is always one of my kids in there. Especially when it storms. Which it is tonight............. Along with a shaking dog who's terrified of thunder! :)
