PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

I officially have become the crazy person though that wakes up at 5AM before going to the parks to get a 58 minute run in!

If you're crazy, the how insane are we for planning a 2:30 or 3am wake up call for a half marathon? The resort is SO beautiful and peaceful while all of the little kiddos are sleeping. :-)

Certified crazy ;)

Then again, I'm going to be certified too most likely in Feb.

Just checking in! Arrived @ Disney last night for my solo F&G trip.

I officially have become the crazy person though that wakes up at 5AM before going to the parks to get a 58 minute run in!

I've already tried one cupcake but it isn't in the report until later today or tomorrow ;)

You are not crazy at all! I remember when we went on our honeymoon in 2001 and I said to my husband when we were at a breakfast buffet "I am so glad I ran this morning!" The woman behind me said "YOU RAN THIS MORNING?!" Like I was crazy or something :), she obviously doesn't get it! When we went in 2011 with DD, DH and I took turns running, and when we went in 2013, I was up most mornings at 5:30 to get a run in.

Sit taller? I nearly stood up and ran around the house! I'm IN Tammie! Finally! Finally a cupcake I can get on board with. ;) Confession (I know, you won't believe me anyway) I don't really like beer all that much. BUT...I do like beer IN things...and...well...it's booze. :rotfl2: Since I'm one of the resident lushes on the cupcake crawl, I accept this challenge. :thumbsup2

I don't like beer at all, and sometimes like it in things, so I may have to try this because the idea that it is made with coffee which I just LOVE, wins me over. Oh and the chocolate covered pretzels.

I have the Minnies . . . love love love them! Very comfy. I wouldn't run for long distances in them, though, because I haven't had a chance to get the peeps at the shoe store watch me run in them. I like to wear them to the gym for just a standard non-impact workout.

Those are adorable and totally something I would love for just running around in! I love pink and Minnie!

I had a beautiful 5 mile run this morning as the sun was rising and birds were singing. I love these mornings. I have my Ragnar in a week and I am so over it. We have 2 teams running together and it just feels so clicky and not like a team anymore. I do it because of the team and the women, but I am just done. I am sure I will have fun when I am running, but not feeling the love at the moment. I would much rather just plan my GSC with you ladies!

Cupcake Friday
(as if just being Friday is not sweet enough)

Chocolate Beer Cupcake
Captain Cook’s (POLY)

On to our next resort and a favorite of my fellow original cupcake, who is still on the fence with this trip (she is married to a high school coach and her daughter is a varsity basketball player…and yep, this trip could fall right in the middle of play offs…I am so hoping that she can come…she is my twiddle). So in the POLY we will be looking for Captain Cook’s (as well as the bar for that Lapu Lapu). Apparently Captain Cook’s is a hidden gem at WDW in terms of cupcakes as they cycle through several different cupcakes, usually coming up with fun and innovative ideas and here is there latest…

I figured this cupcakes name is making you sit a little taller as you read my research, since the Pina Colada did not work for you…how about Chocolate Beer?

Yes, this cupcakes is actually made with beer! This cupcake is made with a base of a standard cupcake and then the bakers us the Kona Brewing Company’s Pipeline Porter in both the buttercream frosting and the cupcake batter. The Pipeline Porter is Kona’s darkest beer and uses 100% Kona coffee beans in the brewing process for the porter. It is one of the top selling beers at Kona. It is then topped off by a chocolate covered pretzel.

Nothing special on the inside...

So you see it gets mixed reviews, but I am not always one to listen to reviews because everyone has an opinion and only mine counts...:lmao:.

Personally this cupcake is NOT for me, I am not a beer fan (I prefer the hard stuff in girly drinks). What are your thoughts?

Oh, I just :lovestruc the Poly Resort. My favorite resort on property!

This cupcake interests me. I'm not a huge beer fan (more of a wine/mixed drink) but I do like beer baked in things (like beer bread). Plus I love chocolate. I would definitly give this a whirl.

I want this cupcake!! I bet it is so good. I make a chocolate cake with Guiness that is a-mazing. It doesn't taste like beer but has this deep delicious flavor. So add this one to my list.

I totally failed running this a.m. - had a Pampered Chef party at my house last night and ate and drank too much wine to make a go of it. But it was fun:)

Here are the reviews I found…

The frosting is very good. Very malty, not too sweet. The cake itself, you could definitely taste the beer.

It was a very interesting flavor. The beer and chocolate flavors shared prominence, and it definitely had the taste and aftertaste of beer. The barley and hops taste was noticeable. It seemed like a bizarre combination of flavors. I’m glad I tried it, but it’s probably not something I would get again.

This actually excited me quite a bit since this is my favorite of their beers and I thought it would add great flavor to the dessert. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. I love beer and I love cupcakes but I felt like this one fell flat. The cake itself was ok but honestly just tasted like slightly dry chocolate cake. The frosting had an amazing texture that would have been enjoyable but it tasted overwhelmingly of beer, and not in a good way. I thought the one saving grace would be the chocolate covered pretzels (one of my favorite snacks) but they were stale and far from satisfying. My advice; try one of the other amazing cupcakes Captain Cook’s offers and drink a beer with your dinner. You will be much happier you did.

This little piggy always goes to the market when it comes to most cupcakes but I think this little piggy is staying home on this one. My hubby makes a beer can chicken and I secretly want him to stop because it leaves this malty, yeast taste. Everyone in our family loves it but its :scratchin to me. So I just don't like the hop or yeast taste of beer and beer flavor.

Speaking of cupcakes....doesn't this look delish!?!?

Ahhh! Looks sooooo good! I was looking at one of my fav runDisney blogs and she was there live posting!

I love those!!! So, if I fly in Thursday evening - will they be there Friday morning? I heard they sell out quickly! And how much do they go for? I'm a size 9 1/2 or 10 lol I hope no one has big feet like me so they won't sell out!

Sending pixie dust!

Thank you!!! And it may have worked! Update below! :flower3:

You go girl!!!!:banana: And we do expect race reports!

Oh yes!! Updates for sure!!! :thumbsup2

SO, I went to a walk in clinic down the street from my job. I work in NYC so they are everywhere but this one had 4 1/2 stars on yelp so I trusted it haha

I've never been to one before but I went in and told them all of my symptoms and...

I was diagnosed with Costochondritis! Crazy, huh!? He told me I could start running after next Wednesday but to be careful and take Aleve, ice hot my chest, and 20 minutes on/off heat. He said the reason I feel dizzy is because my lungs aren't expanding to it's full capacity because of my cartiglege being swollen! :headache:

I feel better about the situation knowing that it isn't anything serious but it kinda sucks that I can't do ANY exercise until the end of next week! AND, I'm going to see one of my favorite comedians tomorrow night so laughing will hurt hahaha :rotfl2:....literally :sad1:

Anyways, thank goodness to this doctor for telling me that I'm okay - blood pressure was good and no fever so yay :cloud9:

Thanks so much for the support you guys! :grouphug:

I'm not a beer fan, but I would try it. Maybe someone else who isn't 100% sold wants to split it? If not, a Lapu Lapu and a Dole Whip would be just fine at this stop!

I have my first 10k race tomorrow. Please send pixie dust my way!

Eh...NO! Beer...in my cupcake?? And it tastes like beer... sitting this one out. I like my beer in my cheddar cheese soup from Le Cellier!

Running at Disney = :cloud9:

Back to running talk...

Just signed up for my 5K and 10K! :cheer2:

I will be running a 5K on 8/2 and a 10K on 10/4!!!

Both are run/walk so that's good! Excited! :goodvibes

I promise I will do a race report on my half marathon on the 27th. Things are CRAZY busy this week...pre-k end of year program, dance recital, lots of dance rehearsal, soccer, family visiting, science fair...busy, busy, busy. I will try & get something put together Sunday evening or Monday.

Tammie.

NSD Weekend. What are you buying? Anything?

I have my eye on a few Kellybell Kits and the new Cruise one from Britt!

LOL...I bought some things but nothing on sale. I have been given the task of creating a new tour book for my kids dance group...of course I have no templates that are 8 1/2 x 11...so I spent all morning trying to find templates...found them on the company that took over the creative memories software. And then I bought a kit to use for the book...

I did the Scrap n Pieces FB Hop this morning...great decade mini kits I thought I might use for something.

Mad for the Mouse has a new kit for Beauty & Beast I like...and of course Kelly Bell...thinking of the running kit, new British kit and getting her freebie Duffy (which will make a great 4th of July page). I really don't have a lot of Disney needs at the moment since all my albums are caught up for Disney...now to say that for everything else NOT!

I need to get into Scrap Orchard and see what they are selling...I had my eye on some Italy Kits and UK Kits.

Ohhhh...I need to see what Britt has! I have not been in her store in a while!

I really want to get some new templates...the latest fad...pocket style. Really thinking of doing an entire album that way...maybe this summer's trip!

I been thinking of bugging you about this...:lmao: But since I can't seem to keep my head above the water and then I take on new projects...

Since I have been sentenced to the boot of shame (moon boot for foot issue) I am working in my "other" training program tonight.

I have that UK kit from WM Squared (from Scrap Orchard) :)

I've being doing pages pocket style too- here and there.. just to try it out! I bought the new Britt Cruise Kit (Pocket Style) this evening...

I will be buying ToT Kit, Running Kit & Cruise Kit from Kellybell on Sunday.

And I will fill my cart with $20 worth of stuff at SweetShoppe for their free kit! :) Also on Sunday.

But now. I'm off to bed. As I have 17 Girl Scouts I'm taking camping tomorrow through Sunday evening. Yee Haw. I deserve lots of cupcakes and alcohol for this! Hahahaha.

Let me know what you end up buying.. and I'll do the same on Sunday. :thumbsup2

Did I miss what happened? how long is the boot therapy?

I think I posted it on my TR. My physical therapist sent me for X-rays because I am STILL having foot pain. No fracture but they think I may have a torn tendon. I have an MRI scheduled next week. Until then I am in the boot of shame :(
