PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

I think I posted it on my TR. My physical therapist sent me for X-rays because I am STILL having foot pain. No fracture but they think I may have a torn tendon. I have an MRI scheduled next week. Until then I am in the boot of shame :(

Aww ... hope you feel better soon. I do not like the boot of shame.

Aww, well I know those PT can put the hammer down!!!! Mine is not crazy about me doing the Peachtree and down graded me to the 5k for the Diva. I have had to add massage therapy because of tight fascia and scar tissue. Be good and stay in the boot!!!

Andreah you are seriously funny:rotfl:

Cupcake Friday
(as if just being Friday is not sweet enough)

Chocolate Beer Cupcake
Captain Cook’s (POLY)

On to our next resort and a favorite of my fellow original cupcake, who is still on the fence with this trip (she is married to a high school coach and her daughter is a varsity basketball player…and yep, this trip could fall right in the middle of play offs…I am so hoping that she can come…she is my twiddle). So in the POLY we will be looking for Captain Cook’s (as well as the bar for that Lapu Lapu). Apparently Captain Cook’s is a hidden gem at WDW in terms of cupcakes as they cycle through several different cupcakes, usually coming up with fun and innovative ideas and here is there latest…

I totally could see myself again sitting outside enjoy my cupcake and drink among my fellow cupcakes...

I figured this cupcakes name is making you sit a little taller as you read my research, since the Pina Colada did not work for you…how about Chocolate Beer?

Yes, this cupcakes is actually made with beer! This cupcake is made with a base of a standard cupcake and then the bakers us the Kona Brewing Company’s Pipeline Porter in both the buttercream frosting and the cupcake batter. The Pipeline Porter is Kona’s darkest beer and uses 100% Kona coffee beans in the brewing process for the porter. It is one of the top selling beers at Kona. It is then topped off by a chocolate covered pretzel.

Nothing special on the inside...

Here are the reviews I found…

The frosting is very good. Very malty, not too sweet. The cake itself, you could definitely taste the beer.

It was a very interesting flavor. The beer and chocolate flavors shared prominence, and it definitely had the taste and aftertaste of beer. The barley and hops taste was noticeable. It seemed like a bizarre combination of flavors. I’m glad I tried it, but it’s probably not something I would get again.

This actually excited me quite a bit since this is my favorite of their beers and I thought it would add great flavor to the dessert. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. I love beer and I love cupcakes but I felt like this one fell flat. The cake itself was ok but honestly just tasted like slightly dry chocolate cake. The frosting had an amazing texture that would have been enjoyable but it tasted overwhelmingly of beer, and not in a good way. I thought the one saving grace would be the chocolate covered pretzels (one of my favorite snacks) but they were stale and far from satisfying. My advice; try one of the other amazing cupcakes Captain Cook’s offers and drink a beer with your dinner. You will be much happier you did.

So you see it gets mixed reviews, but I am not always one to listen to reviews because everyone has an opinion and only mine counts...:lmao:.

Personally this cupcake is NOT for me, I am not a beer fan (I prefer the hard stuff in girly drinks). What are your thoughts?

This looks pretty good to me! I will just about anything chocolate, but not with mint. Never mint.

It's funny I was thinking about downgrading at the diva as well. The peachtree I am not so worried about since I am going with my son and there's really no time limit.

. . . but I thought this group might want to start dropping some last minute Mother's Day hints. I think I may casually drag Gavin into Godiva and let him buy me one of each :scratchin

Since I have been sentenced to the boot of shame (moon boot for foot issue) I am working in my "other" training program tonight.

LOL...Big Hugs....hoping there is nothing on the MRI, just some needed rest!

As for the other training...well let me know how that is going. Right now I need to start that training program, instead of getting less busy I got a few more things added to my plate! UGH, need to learn to say NO!

Oh man...so love Godiva! But not for Mother's Day...trying to get some weight off before Rome. I am hoping my family will take me to the run store in Fort Worth on Mother's Day :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

I'm so sorry about the boot, but working on your other training is the PERFECT remedy for that! :thumbsup2

I'm doing that sort of training today as well! Wine festival in my little town...I wait ALL YEAR for this thing...I can walk to the event and stumble home. :rotfl2:

I told my family the same thing!! No candy for Mother's Day!!! I want to not hide behind a kid or curse every cruise picture and drive my family bananas because I think I'm too fluffy in every pic.

As for me, I'm not even posting my results from last week. I wasn't a TOTAL loser, I did do SOME stuff, but several things got in the way this week, a stubborn-slow IT band recovery, a mini-crisis at work, the loss of my great-uncle (super-sweet man, saw him only once a year or so, but I have family in town to visit as a result), and visiting with my high-school boyfriend that I hadn't seen in 17 years (he and his girlfriend were passing through town while relocating from Maui to the British Virgin Islands). I didn't even wear my Fitbit consistently, which is SO unlike me. I'm a slave to that little gadget. So, yeah, I didn't keep track of my stuff, and I'm declaring this week a do-over.

Here's the plan. I need to get back on track in a terrible way. If I stick to the plan this week, and log all my nutrition into Fitbit (good, bad or cupcake), I'll treat myself to this super-adorable tank from Etsy:

Happy training everyone! Hope your weather is as beautiful as ours in Memphis!

I'm not a beer fan, but I would try it. Maybe someone else who isn't 100% sold wants to split it? If not, a Lapu Lapu and a Dole Whip would be just fine at this stop!

I have my first 10k race tomorrow. Please send pixie dust my way!

i would split this one...I'm down with the beer but not the chocolate. Yeah, yeah, I'm a coconut lover who doesn't like chocolate cake very much. I'm weird, I know.

And GOOD LUCK with your 10K today!!! I hope it is going/went great!! (depending on what time you read this ;) )

Andreah,

You are not a loser. Strength and stretch that IT band. Mine started with the nagging knee pain, then it went to the hip, then it went to shins and this last PHM landed me in serious back spasms from a pinched lower back nerve. That muscle that runs from your back to your knee is a dozey and he don't play nice. Slow and steady wins the race. You are fine in maintenance mode right now.
I like the idea of rewarding yourself with a nice tank!!! Thank you for your creativity! You have such wonderful ideas. Stay healthy Princess!!!

Sorry to hear about your great uncle! I think you are entitled to take some time with family, not to mention to recover and heal from your injury. There's always next week!

I REALLY want to be tank twins! I seriously love that tank!

GO BETSY & CAROL...Run fast from the Yeti tonight!
]

Good luck Betsy & Carol! :worship:

So this week kind of stunk for me since I only ran twice and I need to run four times. However I was motivated to run today because 1) my husband called to see if I had gone for a run (he was at a training) and wouldn't let me make excuses and 2) we did Disney movie night and I baked this cake, half of which is still sitting on our counter. Yum! It's not a *cup*cake, but I thought you would all appreciate it. (It tastes way better than it looks!)

So today was my belated start to C25K week 2. I did day 1 today and improved my times and ran more, obviously! I did 2 miles in 29 1/4 minutes which is good for me! My split pace was 14:50mm! Under 15 minutes!!!!!! I am so proud of myself for getting out there and for doing so much better!

I'm currently doing my alcohol training at Mizner's.

Apparently this is the place to be to watch the derby.

I just wanted pre dinner cocktails (that may have made me really buzzed)
