PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

I didn't complete my C25K day yesterday :(

So, after looking on Google and trying to match my symptoms and trying to not panic that I may have breast cancer - I think I have Costochondritis.

The pain stretchs under my breast on the rib in the front. It doesn't hurt to run or walk but when I move a certain way it hurts a little but when I touch it - it feels like a bruise/sharp pain :confused3

It started a few days ago and came out of no where. I was sick a few weeks ago with a really bad sinus infection and I am exercising but I didn't hit my rib or do anything. My only guess is stress/anxiety?

I'm going to the doctors on Monday to get it looked at. :worried:

I have been experiencing the same symptoms. Although I know I have bursitis and the weather lately has been crazy here. I just figured I pulled the muscle under my breast and the shoulder issue were my problems. I have an appointment with my doctor in a month so I planned on bring it up then. I do wear a good sports bra and compression tank to help hold things still as I am a little more endowed. I have also had allergy and stress issues lately. Would be worth it to have it checked out.

Better to get everything checked out. I find that when I self diagnosis, things are so grim and I think I have cancer. I have come to learn that I can't search for things on the web.

Ugh, I know!!! I start to stress out because I'm like WELL IT COULD BE THIS then I freak out once I see cancer or some disease! :sad2: That's why I'm going on Monday haha - I can't 2 weeks! I've been icing it and I take Advil at night just so I can sleep without rolling over and screaming "OW!"

two things have made me
Feel that way - bruised rib and bad gall bladder- what side is it?

Left side! I have to actually press on the bottom of my breast to feel it. It's a straight line of pain going across the rib. Worst pain is in the middle but starts about an 1 inch from the sternum and ends on the other side of my breast.

I think it's a pulled muscle but it feels bruised - or maybe even fractured. I'm not sure - but I can take deep breaths and no pain and I can move and run with no pain. It's when my wire bra touches it or when I touch it that I feel great pain! I just want it to go away! It's been about 3 days since the pain started and it's getting a little better but not much has changed. I think it's stress related or because of my coughing sinus infection last month. And, I just started running so...maybe the bouncing up and down on the treadmill is doing it while I started C25K? Hm...

I hope you feel better!!! :grouphug:

I have been clinching my teeth like crazy and it has been causing me to have headaches and such. Oh, stress...anxiety...help!

Back to running talk...

Just signed up for my 5K and 10K! :cheer2:

I will be running a 5K on 8/2 and a 10K on 10/4!!!

Both are run/walk so that's good! Excited! :goodvibes

Always better safe than sorry! I'm glad you're getting it checked out!

And shoot, I just realized that between my crazy kids being home due to a flood day off I haven't gotten my workout in. Husband went to help a friend pull up carpet in their flooded house. I might have to take the baby and trust the teenager with the toddler!

Has anyone ever purchase the Run Disney NewBalance shoes. I am thinking of getting them. I am not a purse person but would wear the shoes not to run but in everyday. Did anyone like the fit to maybe to wear in the parks?

I was wondering the same thing. I would like to buy them, but I am not sure about running in them. I do love my running shoes, but often get swayed to look at other pairs that look "cooler" although I have never been one to go with the looks, just the fact that my legs like them.

I want those shoes! Badly! I have friends who bought them last year for Princess and wore them for the 5K then had blisters and such for the other events so if you get them I would hold off on wearing them until after the races.

I used to love New Balance shoes for exercising, but I haven't really done a ton of running in them. Either way they're cute enough to wear for non-running things!

I have the Minnies . . . love love love them! Very comfy. I wouldn't run for long distances in them, though, because I haven't had a chance to get the peeps at the shoe store watch me run in them. I like to wear them to the gym for just a standard non-impact workout.

Those are seriously cute! I defintely would never never never attempt to run a half in them but would love them for my everyday run around shoes. Ok, I am excited with the possibility of getting a pair for the PHM. Thanks for the review.

Wednesday Wonderings

What souvenir do you have to get each time you go to Disney or on a trip?

I am not much into souvenirs. Usually my souvenir is the pictures that I take and the scrapbook albums that I make from them. But I do like to indulge on a couple little things while on trips. I collect picture frames and ornaments on trips.

I am thinking of maybe a castle frame this time...but this is my favorite. Love me Hidden Mickeys!

I am so going to find this ornament...

My must buy item is something with the date on it. An ornament, pin or mug preferably. :)

It could be! I don't really have a supportive one but strange that a bra could cause such pain - and on my rib! I'm small chested too - like 32 B hahaha at 25 I have no hope in them growing but I like it this way :goodvibes

Of course! I was going to wait a few weeks but I'm just going to go on Monday. The pain hurts when I move sometimes but I also have a sitting job so I'm in a chair all day typing! I'm making a post it note full of things that are wrong with me for the Dr. hahahaha! I'm going to bring up my slight knee pain as well but I think she is just going to be like ICE! But the chest issue, it's strange...it's located when I press the bottom of my breast. It's a dull, sharp pain but is in a line across on the rib.

I hope it's just a chest injury! My shoulder blade hurts too but just a slight ache time to time! It feels like shoulder bursitis - just like the pain I have in my hip but my hip thank goodness got better. My other theory is Fibromyalgia and if do, I will conquer the pains and aches and run this challenge with this syndrome in my back pocket!

Thanks so much and I will let you all know what happens! :grouphug:

I swear by my chiropractor. It sounds to me like you could use an adjustment.

Cupcake Friday
(as if just being Friday is not sweet enough)

Chocolate Beer Cupcake
Captain Cook’s (POLY)

On to our next resort and a favorite of my fellow original cupcake, who is still on the fence with this trip (she is married to a high school coach and her daughter is a varsity basketball player…and yep, this trip could fall right in the middle of play offs…I am so hoping that she can come…she is my twiddle). So in the POLY we will be looking for Captain Cook’s (as well as the bar for that Lapu Lapu). Apparently Captain Cook’s is a hidden gem at WDW in terms of cupcakes as they cycle through several different cupcakes, usually coming up with fun and innovative ideas and here is there latest…

I totally could see myself again sitting outside enjoy my cupcake and drink among my fellow cupcakes...

I figured this cupcakes name is making you sit a little taller as you read my research, since the Pina Colada did not work for you…how about Chocolate Beer?

Yes, this cupcakes is actually made with beer! This cupcake is made with a base of a standard cupcake and then the bakers us the Kona Brewing Company’s Pipeline Porter in both the buttercream frosting and the cupcake batter. The Pipeline Porter is Kona’s darkest beer and uses 100% Kona coffee beans in the brewing process for the porter. It is one of the top selling beers at Kona. It is then topped off by a chocolate covered pretzel.

Nothing special on the inside...

Here are the reviews I found…

The frosting is very good. Very malty, not too sweet. The cake itself, you could definitely taste the beer.

It was a very interesting flavor. The beer and chocolate flavors shared prominence, and it definitely had the taste and aftertaste of beer. The barley and hops taste was noticeable. It seemed like a bizarre combination of flavors. I’m glad I tried it, but it’s probably not something I would get again.

This actually excited me quite a bit since this is my favorite of their beers and I thought it would add great flavor to the dessert. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. I love beer and I love cupcakes but I felt like this one fell flat. The cake itself was ok but honestly just tasted like slightly dry chocolate cake. The frosting had an amazing texture that would have been enjoyable but it tasted overwhelmingly of beer, and not in a good way. I thought the one saving grace would be the chocolate covered pretzels (one of my favorite snacks) but they were stale and far from satisfying. My advice; try one of the other amazing cupcakes Captain Cook’s offers and drink a beer with your dinner. You will be much happier you did.

So you see it gets mixed reviews, but I am not always one to listen to reviews because everyone has an opinion and only mine counts...:lmao:.

Personally this cupcake is NOT for me, I am not a beer fan (I prefer the hard stuff in girly drinks). What are your thoughts?

Sit taller? I nearly stood up and ran around the house! I'm IN Tammie! Finally! Finally a cupcake I can get on board with. ;) Confession (I know, you won't believe me anyway) I don't really like beer all that much. BUT...I do like beer IN things...and...well...it's booze. :rotfl2: Since I'm one of the resident lushes on the cupcake crawl, I accept this challenge. :thumbsup2

Good Morning Karen! I am so glad I could start your Friday up with this little gem! You can have my share...

Just checking in! Arrived @ Disney last night for my solo F&G trip.

I officially have become the crazy person though that wakes up at 5AM before going to the parks to get a 58 minute run in!

Trip Report is here:

I've already tried one cupcake but it isn't in the report until later today or tomorrow ;)
