PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Hey Tammie! (and other cupcakes!) :wave2:

I thought I should get myself over here and introduce myself since I'm Nicole's (Tinker326) roomie for the GSC 2015 and we are READY FOR A CUPCAKE CRAWL!!!!! :cool1:

I'm not positive I'm a cupcake runner, I LOVE running, but running does not love my body. I'm always injured, it seems. I love cupcakes though (and alcohol, don't judge!) and running allows me to enjoy those two things at Disney. ;)

I just ran my first half, the PHM, 2 weeks ago! It was amazing and painful, I had a knee injury. I did it though and as the pain faded, I knew I wanted to do the GSC next year...hopefully with no pain!

Subbing so I can follow along!

Yhea, Karen came over!!! She is the one directly responsible for hooking me up with my first Sparkle skirt!!

We can forgive her for loving running because she also loves cupcakes, alcohol & sarcasm. :rotfl2:

P.S- my Grey Stuff is chillin in the fridge for dessert after dinner tonight. I shall report back!

Ok that's it, Ladies! I have now spent most of an hour shopping sparkle skirts. I am about to buy one. I think I'll start with Black Silk so my neighbors won't think I'm crazy girl out there running the neighborhood. I can see how this could become an addiction.

My first one is coming in the next few days. I'm excited to see if it lives up to the hype!!! :woohoo:

There's no judging here. I totally bought one of those overpriced glasses of champagne after finishing PHM! It was delicious.

Did you only do the PHM, not GSC this year? I can't remember for sure which one you did. I'm hoping to do GSC next year as well! :woohoo:

I wanted to get champagne, but I was so out of it and in so much pain, I told my friend I could wait until I got cleaned up and to Epcot...then I had 3 drinks to make up for having to wait. :rolleyes1

I did just the PHM this year since it was my first half. 2015 it's Glass Slipper Baybeeeee!! and cupcakes! and booze! :woohoo:

Thank you!

:cool1:

Sounds yummy! I am going to email my sister in law the recipe to see if she agrees... it is for her husband!

Sorry for all of the questions, last time I started running I just ran, that was it! It was very hard, I was doing the C25k and when I started getting sick I just gave up and then I was pregnant!
Thank you so much for this!!!! But what is GSC- is that the gaterade, the new one with different levels? i don't find this boring, I am very thankful. I didn't even think of it until I saw on another thread someone mentioned it! I am curious though and this sounds silly, but how do you eat while running? I am not very coordinated... :rotfl2:

I think you meant GPS & not GSC ;) GPS is a brand of drink I use (Genesis Pure Sport). It's what works best for me, but you can totally use Gatorade, PowerAde, Nuun or even plain old water.

I do my chews, bars, pretzels, etc during a walk interval (I am totally a Galloway method girl!!) I can barely drink water & run at the same time, so there is no way I could eat something while running.

Thank you again! Yes I am going to read up on these tomorrow since it's late now. I am not sure when I will get to run, I want to be able to run by myself sometimes, but that is going to require me getting up very early or running in the dark and sometimes my husband gets home long enough to eat supper with us and then has to take off for an ambulance call or something! I do have a very nice jogging stroller though so I do plan on using that until maybe I can get into the habit of getting up early to run! Then again I also have to go around the babies schedule and my son's morning routine! Lots of work, but I am ready :hyper: can't wait for the okay! I now know how my 4 moth old feels! She wants to go so badly, but she can't crawl or walk yet so she's stuck just doing a jumping motion or squirmy thing!

I am so NOT a morning person, but it's really the only time I can get the miles in, otherwise I end up on my dreadmill...which I despise!

:)

All this talk about costumes...

I am not a costume girl when it comes to non-Disney races, but Disney races I think it's all part of the fun to do a costume (although I am totally considering Elvis or a show girl costume for RnR Vegas).

For Royal Family 5K last month I did a Nemo-inspired costume. White New Balance tech shirt, orange Rock City skirt & orange/white stripe arm warmers (actually they were baby leg warmers) & a orange sparkly headband.

For PHM I was Jessie (you know, the Princess of the wild West :rotfl2:). I had a Jessie tech shirt made from a lady on Etsy, cow print Rock City skirt & red sparkly headband. I purchased cow print knee high socks, but opted not to bring them once I knew how humid it was going to be.

I have a couple ideas for PHM weekend next year, but nothing definite yet.

YAY Susan...I can't wait to add black silk to my collection! You will love her! Seriously, I think I have probably already said a million times but I cant stand to run with any thing in my hands or even strapped to my arms or around my waist. The pockets are the best part!

HI KAREN...so glad you are joining this crazy group of cupcakes!

I thought I should get myself over here and introduce myself since I'm Nicole's (Tinker326) roomie for the GSC 2015 and we are READY FOR A CUPCAKE CRAWL!!!!! :cool1:

The more the merrier...and the more cupcakes we can try!

I'm not positive I'm a cupcake runner, I LOVE running, but running does not love my body. I'm always injured, it seems. I love cupcakes though (and alcohol, don't judge!) and running allows me to enjoy those two things at Disney. ;)

I think I secretly love running sometimes...it is such a great way for some much needed alone time...that is now that I have discovered the Galloway method. Before that I felt like such a failure. Running does not like me...I seem to be prone to injury too. I have the heart and soul, but my body likes to try to get in the way.

No judging on the alcohol, I like a good drink ever so often...

CONGRATS! :worship: for running with an injury...but you did it!

I want a review of the grey stuff...would love to make it, but then I would eat it and black silk sparkleskirt is calling my name!

My first one is coming in the next few days. I'm excited to see if it lives up to the hype!!! :woohoo:

I hope you will  her!

CHAMPAGNE...did you say they have it after the run! WAHOO, I so will pay for the overpriced glass to celebrate.:banana: They had some amazing champagne and f&W and I was happy to pay for that too...usually I am tight with my money, but sometimes you just gotta enjoy. I was actually thinking of hitting Germany after the race they have some amazing Ice Wine that I love!

CUPCAKES, BOOZE...NEW FRIENDS...gonna be a great time!

Be thinking too...I know what I am doing for the 1/2 but just looking at ideas for 5K and 10K.

You looked so cute in your Jessie costume!

I like inspired costumes too...

Ahhhh! A Sparklesister!!! Seriously made me smile to see you say black silk and know what you were talking about! I wore mine for the PHM, under my pettticoat/costume! Cannot run without them...oh and I just started converting Nicole, so she'll be with us in no time. :lmao:

WOOT! Margaritas in Mexico are a must have, but my favorite is the Grey Goose slushie in France. I MUST have one...or three...every visit! ;)

Betsy introduced me and I am so a sparklesister! Good job on working on Nicole! I have a whole list that I want...but I am using them as an incentive with each 10 pounds I lose. Black Silk is mine after 20 pounds...which I am narrowing in on! I so need to lose this weight...I think it will help my running and injuries lots! AND I WANT TO BE IN PICTURES INSTEAD OF HIDING!

I so  the margaritas in Mexico, but I have to go inside to La Cava del Tequila for a top shelf one! Love the blood orange one! And the Grey Goose Slushie...I think I need one now.

When at Disney I don't think about calories or anything else...I truly let loose and enjoy each drink, meal and DESSERT!

LOVE La Cava!!! Blood orange was amazing as well as pineapple and passion fruit! YUM! I didn't care for the avocado and the cucumber was just ok. I'm not a lush, really. :rolleyes1

Actually I don't drink very often UNLESS I'm at Disney and I'm the same way...I eat really healthy all year long, when I'm on vacation, I don't worry about what I eat or how many calories it has! Probably why I gain 10 pounds every time! :p

P.S- my Grey Stuff is chillin in the fridge for dessert after dinner tonight. I shall report back!

How did it come out? My sister in law okay'd it for the cake :yay:

There's no judging here. I totally bought one of those overpriced glasses of champagne after finishing PHM! It was delicious.

I you don't like champagne do they have anything else? Maybe Sangria?

Well that's actually good for me :), Gaterade and powerade don't agree with me! They just never have! And I tried some of that stuff today, it worked, I think that my blood sugar may have gotten too low without eating enough! I had some dried cherries during the 3 miles and it seemed to work! Thank you very much! I am going to keep trying other combinations too!

That sounds fun, either one! I love the show girl idea, but Elvis on a girl might be different!

I have a couple ideas for PHM weekend next year, but nothing definite yet.

I have a few ideas for my kids! Nothing for me yet! My sister suggested Tianna since I love to cook, but I feel weird... and when I googled it I didn't see any ideas!

Tammie's Training
Galloway 5K
Week 3

I am not making excuses but training this past week was not there...between the weather and my 3 children's activities after school I just did not have time. Even trying to get out of my building at lunch for a walk only happened on Monday. This past week was the week before spring break and I had about a million pieces of data that had to be compiled as we head into standardized testing next month.

Monday, March 3 (Walk): 2.14 milesApparently I forgot to save my walk in MapMyRun so I cannot tell you the exact pace, but I know it was under 16 minutes!

So it looks like I will be starting my Week 3 runs this week...well that was my plan anyway with spring break and plenty of time and good weather to get out and get it done...BUT, today I did something stupid :sad2::sad2::sad2:...did not watch where I was going and ended up falling in a hole at church and twisting my ankle so much so that I am limping, wrapping and icing! UGH! So I guess this week I will play it totally but how my ankle feels...but I know not to rush it!

YAY Susan...I can't wait to add black silk to my collection! You will love her! Seriously, I think I have probably already said a million times but I cant stand to run with any thing in my hands or even strapped to my arms or around my waist. The pockets are the best part!
I meant to order with the hole for the music thing but forgot to add that. Think I should email them to add to my order? That would allow me to run hands-free.

I'm really intrigued by these sparkle skirts and feel like I want to also try the shorts with the "light" and maybe more than one style. I will have to think about whether I want to pull together a "costume" ensemble for ToT.

Tammie - don't beat yourself up about this week's training. I did some research today and finally decided on the Galloway 10k to start training. We just signed up to run an 8k right at week 6/7 so that will be a great fit for the program. Plus I can meld/mesh it with my KokoFitclub training on the cross train days. I love how it lets me use my music and synchronizes the cadence for me. I also have Map My Run but haven't used it. Do you use both that app and the Galloway one? I figure I can "overlay" them with little difference on the "start". Or I can keep using my Nike app.

Thanks for all of your (Y'all's) - however the grammar works - advice!

I don't have the hole thingy either...I just place my phone in the pocket with the earphonescoming out under skirt...Now I believe Besty knows how to put the hole in the skirt.

I am thinking getting a pair of just their black shorts to wear under some of my running shorts...I have had no problem with them riding up like other undershorts...and the pocket...well I keep talking about those darn pockets...:love:

I just started using map my run and use it with Galloway App. I like mapmyrun because it gives split times and is a little more visual than Galloway. I really like the training plan in all the Galloway Apps...they are very doable each week with only 3 runs, hence why I am adding walking to the mix. I am thinking of ordering one of Galloway's internal timers, then just use the App for what my workout is and use mapmyrun for recording the workout...hope that makes sense. I found that while I put a lot of songs into Galloway only a few were played...so often have 3 apps open...MMR, Galloway and my music. Now why is that I have a problem with trying to figure out how to take pictures too? :rotfl2: I have some up with a pretty good playlist that I have timed out for 5K, 10K and Half that I use...but it depends on the day what I want to listen too...sometimes I just hit shuffle and go!

I hope some of this makes sense, it makes sense to me cause I do it...but I am sure it sounds strange.

I started using Galloway and got frustrated with the technology- especially the song playlists (and having to CONSTANTLY repack them every run) and the limitation of the intervals... so I went searching for a compromise...and found
iSmoothRun. It got high reviews on the web, plays off your playlists, lets you set as many intervals as you want, let's you enter 'ghost runs' (if you run and track somewhere else) gives you updates however you choose to be updated & allows you track other activities (running, walking, swimming, biking). I have been very happy with this app.

I am going to check that out.

The one thing I love about Galloway is that he sets up the workouts for me and tells me what to do each week as far as distance. And I loved his talking to me during the run giving tips and advice...but I have heard them all now! He has a nice voice, no coach in my life has ever had such a nice voice.... Although there are times when I wish he was not so nice to me and would tell me to get my butt moving!:lmao:
