phl airport early flight

For the 6:50 am flight, what time is recommended to arrive at the airport. According to the tickets I'm assuming 4:50am. What has been your experience at arrival time?

Last June we had a very early flight out of Philadelphia. If I remember correctly, we got there around 5am but found that the security gate didn't open until 5:30am. We had to sit around and wait. There were not too many people there at that hour, but the lines were starting to build at the security gate.
I would not suggest getting there until 5:30am.

I am on the same 6:50 am flight out of PHL on Aug 15th!

The flight will board at 6:30. Which means you need to check your bags in no later than 6am. If you get there and there is a long line at baggage check in, use curb side, I tip $1 per bag and it saves time and if you are traveling with young kids, the porter helps with the bags. to be safe, be at baggage claim at 5:30. Also, where are you parking your car, you have to allow time to get to the airport from parking. The Ramada hotel is cheap at only $6.25 a day. Amco has indoor parking for about $8 a day.

We are also on the 6:50am flight out of Philly, but we are leaving November 30! As a matter of fact, I just checked USAirways site and saw the change. Hopefully, this will be the last change for our flights...Cartier is probably getting annoyed at all my emails telling them of my changes!
