Looking to go to Historic "OLD" Philly.

What hotels are close by and REASONABLE????

:confused3

check tripadvisor.com if you are going to have a car you could always stay in NJ and take the speedline into the city, or drive, parking isn't terrible.

Define "reasonable"! We live in the Philly 'burbs so no need for a hotel personally, but I've had visiting friends stay at the Alexander Inn and love it. It is small and somewhat no-frills, but they've adored the service and the experience. I've heard that the Morris House is also nice, but a little pricier. I've also had friends stay at the Omni which is closer to the Independence Mall area. There's a Best Western also very near the historic district and a Comfort Inn on the waterfront at Penn's Landing (a little tougher if you would like to walk to sites only because you'll be dealing with some major roads.)

Philadelphia is a very manageable city and you can get to a lot of the attractions on foot. The subway isn't difficult to figure out and there's also the Phlash which is sort of a tourist-attraction only bus system. For the most part Philadelphians will deny it vehemently to anyone else, but it's a terrific city with so much to offer.

Not related to Philly hotels, but I highly recommend checking out the Franklin Institute!! I think it's one of the best things to see in Philly!

When we went we ended up staying over the bridge in New Jersey. The drive wasn't bad at all. We were not able to find any reasonable priced hotels downtown for our dates.

I stayed at Sheraton Society Hill two years for a conference. I took a cab to/from Amtrak station. I had my girls then 5 and 9 with me and we walked to the Liberty Bell, National Constitution Museum, Freedom Museum, Betsy Ross's House etc. We all loved the Duckboat ride. The swimming pool was nice and the hot tub was attached to it making it easy to see the kids as I relaxed.
