Quick post as I've got a ton of work to get done.

We drove back from Philly this morning and Matt dropped me off at the office and is on his way home to check on the kitties.

Thank you all for making this a great weekend!

Cam and Howard, Matt and I cannot thank you enough for your hospitality. We really enjoyed dinner on Saturday and it was great to get the chance to talk to everyone in a way that would not have been possible if we had gone to a restaurant.

As for the race, as most of you know, I am very happy:cool1:

My official time is 4:22:59 (a 27 and a half minute PR). I missed my goal of 4:20 but I am not really upset about that. I think I ran the best race I could given how I felt that day and I managed to run the whole thing and kept a fairly consistent pace throughout.

I'll do a real race report later.

Hey Everyone! How ya'll feelin' today? :scared1: . I must say, that I am a bit sore   . Watching me try to walk conjures up images of an old Boris Karloff movie...walking down stairs?? Very entertaining for Bruce & Spencer this a.m. So how'd everybotty do?

Jeez, where do I start? Oh, I know;

Dave - Dang it! I was hoping somehow that you were going to make it out of there last night. I can't tell you how badly I feel about your situation :sad1: . What a pain in your butt! I hope you are on your way home now as I type this :sad2: . The only bright spot is that it didn't happen somewhere on the road in the night on the way down or on your way home...I guess. It was so great to see you & I hope the car thing didn't ruin your entire experience this weekend. Must've been hard to concentrate on running though. You put up a great, time, though!

Howard & Cam - So how can I, in the confines of this little thread, express the gratitude I feel for you both for opening up your home to us all. Such gracious hosts, good food, good times & a feeling of being welcome I have never experienced before. Thank you, thank you. Truly at a loss for words...

Port A-Lou - :yay: Glad to finally meet you! Dude, you had a kick-butt race! Are you sore today? Fred Sanford :rotfl2: :lmao: . Now that's funny. Sorry I didn't see you afterward to toss a few back, but I had this train to catch...:rolleyes1

Colleen - Good to see you again, Canada! I'm so proud of you & your kickin' time! You go, girl :woohoo: . And glad you were able to get that earlier flight to tend to the kiddies. Ready for Disney?

Sara - Nice seeing you, too, again! Glad your drive home was uneventful, but sorry you feel like turd this a.m. What's up w/ the asthma?:scared1: . What the heck??? I can't believe you weren't around after the race...sheesh!

Mike - I guess I have to put "nice to see you again" here, too.:rotfl:  . It was too fun meeting your girls, they are SO cute, Kathy's mailman must be a great guy!:scared1: . But really, what a great little bunch you've got there :grouphug: . Bruce said he saw you fly by while he was waiting for me (about 40 mins. prior to my arrival  ) and said you were makin' it look easy. Are you happy with your results??

Howard - How did the heel hold out? How was your run & how are you feeling today? It was a such a pleasure to finally meet you, and of course, Cam!:yay: Do you all have much leftover lasagna, 'cause I can make a road trip over the holiday :rolleyes1 ...

Jen - It great to finally meet you, as well!! Sorry Butch couldn't make it to the party & that he wasn't to happy with his run :sad2: . You should be happy that you PR'd!, no matter what the time! It's all good!

ChesterTracy - Sorry we made it so cold for you, Tracy you looked miserably cold on Sat. afternoon! How do you feel Chester? Were you happy with your race? I can't believe I actually saw you out there (I even said hi!).

CindyLou-Matt - Bet you guys are home by now! It was too cool seeing you again, albeit in a bathrobe in a hotel lobby :rolleyes1 . I can't believe I didnt' even see you on the course, Cindy. Here I am running next to you & all :rolleyes1 . You posted a kickin' PR, nice way. You too, Matt, WTG :thumbsup2 . BTW, Cindy, how come you wouldn't take any of the SportsBeans that I offered you? Hmmm....were you remembering my stories of snotrockets from posts past & wondering about the hygiene of the whole hand-off?

Did I miss anyone/thing? Me? I had a good run, no major glitches, except for a quad & a calf threatening to tighten up around mile 24 or 25 :confused3 , thankfully it passed. I've yet to check the website, but my Garmin said it took me 4:15 (unk. seconds). That's a PR for me by about 10 mins., I think. The weather, for me, was absolutely PERFECT! Doesn't get much better than that!

Dave - Our posts must have crossed. :sad1: I can not believe you're still down there, I am SO sorry, wish I was there to keep you company  .

Dave - Am I the only baffoon (I know that's not spelled correctly. You'd think that someone that is one all his life would at least know how to spell the word) that didn't know you were having car troubles? I hope all is resolved.

Cindy - Matt dropped you off at work? Geeze-louise, you are something!

Colleen - Glad you made the earlier flight and got to tuck in the kiddies.

Sara - I hope you are feeling a bit better. PD going your way.

Lou - The Fred Sanford walk is way too funny. I love it!

Howard - How are the blisters this morning? Are you able to walk?

Cam - I told Kathy that the lasagna dinner was great Saturday, but I would have enjoyed it even more last night when I could have truly eaten myself into oblivion! Thanks again.

Jen - Sorry we missed you and Butch Sunday. Congrats on the PR.

Chester - Are you and Tracy thawed out yet?

Jodi - Tell Bruce that it was all downhill (as in spiraling into the abyss, not a gentle decrease in elevation) after I saw him. It was cool that he shouted out. He was a lot of fun Saturday night. Maybe he's convinced we aren't so bad afterall?

Great race by the way! You are definitely the postergirl for the "Less is more" training plan! I may subscribe to that one and see if it pays off.

Speaking of snot-rockets... I know I told a few of you after the race, but Jodi, just for you: I ran for 4 or 5 miles in the vicinity of this guy that was blowing every 10 seconds or so. I ran past him (at a safe distance) around mile 7 and he's blowing away. Blow left, blow right, 50 feet, blow left, blow right. On and on. I tried to speed up a little to get away but he sped up. I was this close to telling him "Come on buddy! Just let it drip! Save your air for later!" Finally, around mile 11 I slowed back down some and he blew (literally) past. I saw the same dude a little ahead at the 20 mile turn-around, still blowing every 10 seconds! Incredible!!

I'm feeling pretty decent today. Even the stairs are O.K.. I don't get it. I feel like I ran much harder yesterday compared to MCM, ran more at the end, and even finished a few minutes quicker but feel a lot better.:confused3 I guess I won't complain given I could be Fred Sanford or Frankenstein's monster.

Hey Guys, just a quick update!

Dave called me @ 1 p.m. & told me he was just leaving the Pep Boys in Philly!:sad2: , he wanted me to let you all know, poor guy, what a way to end the weekend.

Dave - Glad you finally got out of Philly. It's a shame we didn't know you were stranded or I would have come to get you. Everyone thought you were on your way home. Pep Boys is not the way to end the weekend. Sorry about the auto troubles.

Dave - I'm sorry you got out of there so late and have such a long drive ahead of you:sad2:

Tracy and I landed at 12:30am this morning and got home at 1:30. I wish I would have taken today off. Muscle pain isn't too bad but I am awfully tired. I'll have to catch up and post more tomorrow.

Chester

Dave - Please let us know you made it home safely and WTG calling Jodi to share the info:cool1: knowing we're thinking of you:grouphug: If it makes you feel any better, when I got gas in Philly before I left, I ran into some post at the Sonoco and banged up my car pretty good:rotfl:. Things like that don't bother me in the least but I had to warn DH so he wouldn't flip out on me:confused3 I'll just consider it a token of a fun-filled weekend and I hope your car troubles weren't too much of a buzzkill:hug:

Jodi - I did have my inhaler with me because I anticipated breathing issues even without a cold, due to the weather, but it wasn't helping me out any:sick: . I agree, the weather was perfect and I really had a fun time even though my gasping for air was causing Cam to worry about me:sad1: BTW, sweet race time girl:worship:

Krista - Thanks for stopping by:) Please tell Stephen to come run with us in the future:cheer2:

Jen - Not running WDW but haven't ruled out scream teaming 100%. We'll see if Southwest is kind enough to cough up a Ding fare I can live withpopcorn:: and if I can get any of my friends to sell me some floor space for cheap:cloud9:

Cindy - SO very proud of you :worship: . Can't wait for the race report.

Lou - Congrats on the PR :thumbsup2 and sorry about the quad issue:headache:

Chester - Thanks for checking in and anxiously awaiting a race report:)

Hoping to run as soon as I can breathe:scared: One benefit of loafing it:laughing:  is no muscle soreness:thumbsup2 Loved, loved, loved the chicken broth and pretzels yesterday:love: Really nice race all the way around!

Chester, Oh, my, your plane must have been hours late taking off! No wonder you are exhausted. I was able to get on an earlier flight, with a $50 change fee, remember Tracy was asking me about that. I guess that is new and asked DH about the fee b/c one used to be able to fly stand-by for free. I guess it is just free if you are an elite member.

Sara, sorry about your fender bender and your breathing troubles. You did well to finish or even start that race because you sure didn't sound very well in the morning.

Jodi, ah, what's that? A 4:15 marathon with no LR past, what 16 miles?!?:confused3 Awesome.:hippie:

Lou, thanks for being our tour guide for Philly and sharing all your race and city knowledge. Great time for you too!:thumbsup2

Mike, what can I say? Beautiful family, you are a lucky man.:)

Dave, ah Dave, that really sucks you had all that trouble, but glad you are on your way home.

Jen, you was good of you to jump into meeting all the crazies here. COngrats on your race.:yay:

Howard and Cam, thank you again for everything. It is amazing how you both were able to pull everything together this weekend because I know you had a very hectic few weeks leading up this weekend. BTW, loved that Andrew decided to get up and come scream team. He was so nice to me after the race.:)

Funny story, last night I was brushing my teeth before bed and I turned to DH and said, you know, this marathon was really tough for me, don't let me EVER sign up for another marathon again. He looked at me and said, "ah, yeah sure" and gave me a huge hug. Well the pain of the marathon is already starting to fade.:rotfl: DH is a wise man.

Isn't it funny? I feel the same way. Last night I laid on the love seat in the fetal position because I could not find a way to lay down without being in intense pain. I needed the 800mg Motrins and we were all out. Nicole says, "and you paid money for this?". I'm thinking this is my last marathon for a while. Now I feel a whole lot better and that pain memory is already fading. That 4:00:00 bar is enough to make me want to suffer again. Just need to decide where the next suffering will take place.

Hey Everyone: Thanks for all the well-wishes. I'm home now. Got home about 6:30p. It started snowing like crazy about an hour from home. OK, i'm going to snuggle with the family now.

Just popping in to see how everyone did! Sounds like everyone had great races! Congrats!

Dave--sorry to hear about the car troubles, glad to hear you made it home safely!

Congratulations Philly folks! I'm glad you enjoyed that cold weather mess. You did didn't you? Good job everyone who was out in it. Scream teamers and event runners. :worship: :worship:

First, THANK YOU to all of you that shared your weekend with us! We are the ones that appreciate the time and effort you all took to come visit with us, to share war stories of past DIS events, and talk about yesterday's effort to come.

I was finally able to see my official time and I am really happy about it. My time was: 4:18:49. I am very happy with this result because of several things:

1. I have been fighting a PF issue since just after MCM in late October.
2. I have only run 4 times since MCM, the longest run being 7 miles.
3. It was cold.
4. I had severe blister action going on later on in the race that really slowed me down after mile 22-23.
5. I had to slow down/walk through the icy water stops
5. I finished only 8:41 behind my MCM PR!

So, despite the cold, it was a great race overall. I just wish my feet were better off at the end of the race. I had large blood blisters on the instep in front of the arch of each foot and one just below the nail on my left pinkie toe. That one is the most painful. That and the day after PF issue. :headache:

Sara - Great job with your run! I am proud of you! Sorry you had to deal with some breathing issues in the cold weather. You are always welcome to visit us here in Delaware anytime - run or not. I am glad you made your way out of Philadelphia without much a do.

Jodi - It was wonderful meeting you and Bruce. It would have been enjoyable to hang out with you post race, but I knew yuou had a train to catch out of town. I hope your weekend went as well or better than you originally hoped it could. Evidently you kicked some major keester out on the course despite taking the training lightly at times. I am all for that. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Chester - It was nice to see you and Tracy this weekend. Thank you for deeming our get together worthy of your time. It truly was (in my estimation) the highlight of the weekend. We had a great time hosting everyone for dinner. I am happy to have seen you on the course and that we were able to help you get to the airport and out of town.

I'll catch up to everyone else tomorrow. For now, I am glad Dave and everyone is home safe and sound.

I am looking forward to more dialog on this thread even though the event is over. We have become much closer having gone through this together.

:grouphug:

Howard
