Hi 41
Lo 24

Today:

PHILADELPHIA 745 AM EST FRI NOV 21 2008 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EST THIS MORNING... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EST THIS MORNING. AN AREA OF SNOW WAS MOVING ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA...THE NORTHERN DELMARVA AND MUCH OF SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY THIS MORNING. ONE COOPERATIVE OBSERVER IN HONEY BROOK REPORTED THREE INCHES OF SNOW ON THE GROUND AS OF 7 AM EST. THIS AMOUNT IS VERY LIKELY ON THE HIGH END OF WHAT CAN BE EXPECTED THIS MORNING...BUT ONE TO THREE INCHES OF SNOW IS QUITE POSSIBLE OVER MUCH OF THE ADVISORY AREA. FOR THE MOST PART...THE SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE ON GRASSY SURFACES...BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES...AND ANY ACCUMULATION ON ROADWAYS WILL DISAPPEAR AS THE MORNING WEARS ON AND TEMPERATURES RISE SLOWLY. HOWEVER...ROADWAYS WILL ACCUMULATE AT LEAST A COATING OF SNOW AS IT FALLS AND VISIBILITIES WILL DROP TO ONE HALF MILE OR LESS IN BRIEF MODERATE SNOW BURSTS. THE MORNING COMMUTE WILL BE CHALLENGING...AND MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO BE CAREFUL. SLOW DOWN AND LEAVE AS MUCH ROOM AS POSSIBLE BETWEEN YOURSELF AND OTHERS. IT IS BETTER TO ARRIVE LATE THAN NOT AT ALL. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

Carp!!! I'm more worried about driving home after the race in that now!

See? That's why i don't do any taper run stuff ;) . I myself, have been carb loading for a bit too looong, as well.:rotfl2: . Oh well!

Dave - 20 MILER?? No, no, no. My longest run was 18, about, oh...a while ago :confused3 . We'll see :rolleyes1 .
OK, that's still alot farther than me. My farthest was 15, and that was more than 2 months ago.

Dave, no precip. scheduled for Sun., some rain on Mon. You should be fine!

Cindy - 11a.m.??? I'm hoping to be "almost done" by then. Shoot, it's gonna be chilly, man! I always get big shirts & hold my hands inside the sleeves b/c gloves don't work for me.:confused3 I'd got w/ the beanie. You could always stuff it in a pocket if you get hot, then put it back on if you cool down.

Don't forget chap stick!

There shouldn't be anymore precip this weekend, correct?

Just cold and a little wind.

Cindy, YOu are just wearing capris?!??! I will definitely start with running tights and sweats!!

I too am not sure what to do with the head. I am going to start with a wool cap because I MUST cover my ears. I had similar conditions in Chicago and I tossed my wool cap and put on my running hat about mile 13. I needed the hat to keep the sun off my face. It was 32 F at start for Chicago (we saw snowflakes) but I still had a sunburn on my face when I finished. Which reminds me, I need to pack sunscreen. Ah, a wool cap, mitts, parka and sunscreen.:thumbsup2

OK, I'm heading to a meeting from 2:30-3:30p, then I have another meeting from 3:30-4:30p, and then I hit the road. I won't be able to check in again. C-ya in Philly!

Hey all :wave2:

Just got back from the expo. It wasn't too crowded, but we were there early. Seemed pretty organized and well stocked with the usual assortment of stuff. I did win a Geiko inflatable gecko, so what else could I really ask for :confused3

Happy travels to everyone.

Happy travels, everyone! If anyone didn't get my PM with directions and contact numbers, please post here and I will re-send/send.

Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow! :grouphug:

The shirt (for the half) is a long sleeved black tech shirt that says "Kicked Asphalt Philadelphia Half Marathon" with the date on the front and has a footprint with the race map on the back-- I think the one for the full is the same except it obviously does not say "half marathon" on the front and has the map for the full on the back. The font looks like the one on the Philadelphia Marathon web site (the button in the middle where it says kicked asphalt). I actually quite like the shirt :thumbsup2

Sara has safely arrived at Casa Howie & Cam. :cool1:

Cool, I hope the business trip was successful.

Jen - The shirts sounds cool. My only gripe with last year's shirt was that it was kind of small. I order a men's XL and it fit more like a L/M. I haven't gotten a decent race shirt from any Philly race so I am hoping this one will be nice.

Lou
