Dave, when are you heading out?
I have a meeting that goes until 4:30p, and I'm heading out as soon as it's done. It's been crazy busy time for me here at work. To be honest, I haven't thought much about the marathon. I threw a bunch of stuff in my suitcase and in the back of the car, and I'm heading out as soon as I can. Hope I didn't forget my running shoes.

Dave - You still have my cell? Give me a call & travel safe tonight! RU going to meet @ 1 in the lobby tomorrow & head over to the expo?
Hi Jodi: Yup, I've got your cell in my new iPhone. Hopefully I programmed it in correctly. I will meet up in the hotel lobby tomorrow at 1pm. I'm actually looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. How are you feeling for this marathon. Did you ever get a 20 miler in? What was your furthest LR?

Are you driving to PA? Don't even tell me you're going to go right by me! If you're going to be anywhere on routes 84 or 684 or the Taconic, you better let me know! ;)

I am driving to Philly, and to be honest, I don't know where I'm going right now. I need to map it. I don't think I will be on 84 though. I think it's 81 I'm taking.

What's up with that forecast?? Didn't I say only Howard could post about weather??:rotfl:

Sunday Weather brought to you by Folgers Crystals.

Hi 41
Lo 24

Today:

PHILADELPHIA 745 AM EST FRI NOV 21 2008 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EST THIS MORNING... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EST THIS MORNING. AN AREA OF SNOW WAS MOVING ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA...THE NORTHERN DELMARVA AND MUCH OF SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY THIS MORNING. ONE COOPERATIVE OBSERVER IN HONEY BROOK REPORTED THREE INCHES OF SNOW ON THE GROUND AS OF 7 AM EST. THIS AMOUNT IS VERY LIKELY ON THE HIGH END OF WHAT CAN BE EXPECTED THIS MORNING...BUT ONE TO THREE INCHES OF SNOW IS QUITE POSSIBLE OVER MUCH OF THE ADVISORY AREA. FOR THE MOST PART...THE SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE ON GRASSY SURFACES...BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES...AND ANY ACCUMULATION ON ROADWAYS WILL DISAPPEAR AS THE MORNING WEARS ON AND TEMPERATURES RISE SLOWLY. HOWEVER...ROADWAYS WILL ACCUMULATE AT LEAST A COATING OF SNOW AS IT FALLS AND VISIBILITIES WILL DROP TO ONE HALF MILE OR LESS IN BRIEF MODERATE SNOW BURSTS. THE MORNING COMMUTE WILL BE CHALLENGING...AND MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO BE CAREFUL. SLOW DOWN AND LEAVE AS MUCH ROOM AS POSSIBLE BETWEEN YOURSELF AND OTHERS. IT IS BETTER TO ARRIVE LATE THAN NOT AT ALL. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

Looking forward to your catwalk approach to the starting line in your bathrobe!:rotfl2:

Jodi, no I haven't been to Goodwill yet, but now that I know there will be a CATWALK, I better get something good if I will be competing against Cindy :cutie: and Mike:bride: .

I did get my LAST 4 miles in today. WOW, was it ever hard! :sad2: Why are these taper runs always SO hard?!!?:confused3

I guess I have been carb loading for a few too many days this week!:rolleyes1

Colleen~ Don't forget to pick up a feather boa to spin around as you make your way to the start. :lmao: I am sure Mike has already considered this. :rotfl:

See? That's why i don't do any taper run stuff ;) . I myself, have been carb loading for a bit too looong, as well.:rotfl2: . Oh well!

Dave - 20 MILER?? No, no, no. My longest run was 18, about, oh...a while ago :confused3 . We'll see :rolleyes1 .

Howie - How ya feelin'?

My foot (PF) is a bit sore today, not sure why. Other than that, just trying to stay warm here in the office.

Feeling trepadacious about Sunday.

:grouphug:

Howard

Me too! Whatever trepadacious means, I am sure I am feelin' it!

I wonder if Sara was feeling it in the backseat of the car this morning?!?

:surfweb: We awoke to a white layer of frozen precipitation this morning, probably close to a half inch. :scared1: It is still snowing here too. Not the best thing to have on the ground whilst running a marathon. I hope that conditions in Philly are more favorable and that this stuff melts off by Sunday. I have a feeling we'll be running in and around some areas of frozen stuff.
We had about an inch here in South Jersey but it's all melted off now. The sun keeps popping in and out but the sky is mostly grey. Local weather forecasts are calling for cold temps tomorrow but dry. Sunday still looks dry and 35-41. We'll be fine.

2 miles in the snow was all I did today. That's it. Let's get ready to rumble!

Lou

Thank you Howard.

Yes I am DEFINITELY feelin' it.

Well, I have to say it is 36 F in NC right now, with wind at 11 mph and wind gusts up to 22 mph and it is COLD at there.

I don't think I could run/walk a marathon in these conditions. It is really brutal out there.:sad2:

Lou, please tell me there will be NO WIND!!!:guilty:

Thank you for all the WISHes Karen, Steve, and Judy!

Thanks Krista – I really hope I have it in me.

Colleen – all of my taper runs have sucked. I’m really hoping that that is not an indication of Sunday.

Howard – I hope the foot pain goes away quickly.

Dave, Jodi, and Chester - I just realized that when we meet in the lobby tomorrow, it will be like a reunion of the AK parking lot!

Ran 5 this morning. I actually didn’t feel too bad, but my HR was really high. Much higher than it should have been. And I was running about 1 min/mile slower than I am planning on running on Sunday. Not sure why. Could it have been that my body was working harder to stay warm?:confused3

The "feels like" temp was in the high 20s when I ran. It’s scary to think that that is 10 degrees warmer than it will feel on Sunday at 7. I wore what I am planning on wearing for the race –
Race Ready Capris
Very, very thin tech long-sleeve shirt
Another thin tech long-sleeve shirt on top of that
I will wear a throw away sweat shirt on top of that that I can start the race in (I will, of course, have to ditch the bathrobe before I actually start running)
I think the above ensemble should work.

I’m a bit less certain about my head, hands, and feet.

I wore my mid weight gloves but hands were freezing and really painful for about 3 miles, so I think I am going to double up on gloves with a throw away pair on top.

I wore my fleece beanie this morning, but I think that might be too much for the race. I really can’t decide on this one.

I’m worried that my feet will get really cold. I’ve had times before where they have gotten really cold and I haven’t been able to feel them for hours. Not sure what to do about this.

So, um, yeah, I'm feeling a bit of trepidation!:scared1:

Jodi - Since you fired Howard, can I post about the weather again?

I'm not Lou (obviously) but I'll answer Colleen's question. According to weather.com, the winds will be between 6 to 10 miles an hour, so it shouldn't be too bad. By 11AM, its supposed to get up to a "feels like" of 29!
