While it's true that "My Man" keeps his pimp-hand strong, I was able to sneak another temp-ho run in yesterday (6 miles @ 8:44, which is breaking-the-sound-barrier-territory for me; guess those ipods are good for something) without him knowing & was able to keep all the "benefits" for myself...if you see me in Philly a little lumped up, you'll know that he got his purple fedora all up in a bunch & found me out!

Mikey, Mikey, Mikey - If you need help with your new cross-dressing endeavor, please let me know. That can be a risky business (some guys get a little upset when the "Crying Game" aspect of your tryst comes into play), but HuggyBear will take good care of you & can offer protection for a nominal fee! Glad to see you getting some track work in; running in circles - mimicking your life in general - very comforting.

Lou - Glad you're feeling better...ahh, the dreaded flu shot...I'm not getting it this year, I never get the flu. Last year my Dr. convinced me to get it b/c Bruce has asthma & is more susceptible to "these things". You know what? he's on his own from now on.:rotfl2: Go easy...nice job on the 5 miles!

Cindy - HI! Welcome Home!:headache: Catch up @ work as I'm eager to hear your report on EE & find out if you booted or not!popcorn::

Sara - Have fun @ Dancing tonight :lmao: , OMG. No, don't admit about wearing a costume...that's much too disturbing for these threads. Good luck on that 10 miles this weekend!:yay:

Dave - The Man is looking for his cut for that press release :rolleyes1 .

Steve - Glad the achilles is feeling better & that Philly is definitely a go. What's the prospect for the Goofy? Did you get nailed @ all with that hurricane poop?

Howard-NightFever - So is there a little disco ball hanging from your rear view mirror now or what? Cam must be so pleased at the progress you're making, us wives always have to teach you guys how to dance, sheesh  .

Colleen - So I believe you'll be signing up for EE next year?? COOL! Can't wait. BTW, no adults really dress in costumes, it's just something Disney say is "normal". Just put everything on the credit card...dentist visits, Disney tickets, groceries, plane tickets, musical instruments....it'll all work out in the end.

Jodi - You are so going to have to explain that to me! :) I'll be in CT this weekend hanging out with the fam.

I put EVERYTHING on my credit card. I only have one...well two if you count my Kohls card, but everything goes on the card, gotta get those air miles. DH laughs at me when I use my credit card to go through McDonald's drive-thru.:rotfl:

Off to get my haircut. Back later...

Chester - You two were fast. How did they decide which wave you started in? Would you have been better off starting up front?

Mike
As far as I can tell, waves were assigned by: singles, men's teams, women's teams and co-ed teams. There were 11 waves and there seemed to be no attempt at separations by time.

Chester

Well, I just checked the Philly marathon website. There are 900 spots left in the marathon and 750 for the half as of yesterday. To put that in perspective, on 9/26/08 there were 1300 spots in the marathon and 900 in the half.

I guess I should enter soon.

Any guesses to when it will close?

Hi Guys,

Lou: Glad to hear you are getting back in the groove. Oh, and I forgot to comment on one of your previous posts...

I would have to say I have been to maybe 100 games but none like last night. It was great because my dad was to my right and my son to my left (plus it was DS's 10th b-day!!). Just an awesome game and great for 3 generations of Phillies fans to experience something positive for once.

Truly, that is awesome. My father passed away prior to my son being born, so I can only daydream about experiences such as yours. What was a wonderful, happy experience for you will some day evolve into a treasured memory. :)

Colleen: I put all the expenses on the credit card as well. My DW still does not get it: she'll write a check and I'll start in with: "Frequent flyer miles!! Frequent flyer miles!!"

Jodi: Hurricane "Xavier" or whatever-the-crap letter we are up to just dumped 5 days of rain us; other than that we are good. As to Goofy 09, I am definitely out; not even going to the World. What do you think I should do with my entry? Maybe Huggy Bear could pimp it out for me?

MCM-Michaela: Don't let that skort decision keep you up at night. I'm sure you'll pick a flattering cut that will accentuate your newly aerodynamically shaved legs. :thumbsup2

Cindy: Welcome home and good luck on the Army 10-Miler.

Sara: It's OK that you are Philly fence-sitting; as long as most of us on this thread can meet up down (or up) there, it's all good. :goodvibes

Hi Howard, Dave and Chester!

Went 7 today and the achilles is sorta OK! What I did discover is that I am way, way, way out of shape. :headache: That, and apparently on my run today a sniper shot my right nipple; it's OK, the round went clean through. Nothing a little green tin of Bag Balm can't alleviate.

Take care all

Hi! I ran after work in overcast and off and on rainy conditions. It was cool though which helped, however there was 100% humidity. :headache:

Here are the results of my efforts:

Miles: 8.16
Time: 1:07:02
Pace: 8:13

Splits: 8:21, 8:16, 7:57, 7:51, 8:16, 8:28, 7:55, and 8:29.

I felt a bit winded the first two miles, then caught my breath and stride.

Colleen: I have no idea when Philly will fill up. Play it safe and register soon. We want to make sure you get in!

Jodi~ No disco ball(s) here.... Cam is a much better looking partner and dancer than I am. I kind of look like this ---> :cool1: or this ---> :woohoo: doing the white-man overbite when I dance. I need to learn to lead Cam and she'll do just fine. We are honing our Fox-trot, Swing and Waltz skills.

Have a great evening!

:grouphug:

Howard

Howard - It looks like we had very similar runs in very similar conditions tonight. Cool and rainy for 9 miles at around 8:10 mpm. But I can't dance.

Jodi - I'd consider wearing a skirt, but no tucking, taping, or any other unnatural rearranging.

I thought I heard the sonic boom yesterday just about the time you were running. Nice job!

Steve - Sorry to hear about the shot to the nip. That's gotta hurt. Luckily, that's never been an issue for me.

And as for the "Newly aerodynamically shaved legs", what makes you think that's new??:confused3

Cindy - Welcome back. I'm thinking you need to start finding some mid-week races. A biggey every weekend just isn't enough.

Colleen - I suppose I better sign up for Philly pretty soon. Wouldn't it be funny in an idiotic sort of way if over half the group that's been talking about running this race for almost a year got closed out.

Hey to everyone else!

So is everyone here signing up for the full and the half? Will anyone be joining me for the 8k?

I just told my boss (friend and former roommate) that I was signed up, so she needs to get moving so that she can help drag me across the finish line.

Hey Everyone: Just checking in. Work's been crazy busy this week, but fun. I haven't run at all since the Yeti. My right hip has been bugging me, and I think it is a tight ITB (in Jan/Feb it was my left hip). I'm trying to keep in shape by riding the bike, and see if I can do my long runs on Saturday. We'll see if it works.

Colleen- I forgot to reply about your 15 miler. Congratulations! That's awesome. Did I hear you're signing up for the full at Philly? Where'd you find the registration numbers? I can never find them.

Mikey- Have a great time at the MCM. Sounds like a good way to get a 20+ mile training run in. I have really good memories of that race.

Lou- Hope you're feeling better.

Howard- You are smoking in your runs lately.

Jodi- Did you sign up for Philly yet? I'm committed to going. Even if I'm just standing on the sidelines cheering, I'm not missing this race. I want to be with my WISH peeps. I think I'm going solo for Philly weekend - so no "distractions". You were smoking on your Temp-ho run.

Steve- Glad the achilles is coming around.

Sara- How was America's Best Dance Crew Live? What was it?

Cindy- I think it's a great idea to run the Army 10 miler. Good to have a reason to get out there. I'd rather run a race (even if I treat it as a training run) than a training run by myself anyday. Give my best to Matt and Rhodri.

Hello MLA1977 - It's great you're running the 8K, and we'll be there to cheer you on.

Hello Chester!

OK, gotta get ready for work.

Jodi - I immediately thought of you: The Brooks VIP Port-a-Potty!

http://www.marinemarathon.com/Assets/Brooks+VIP+Porta+Potty+08.pdf

MLA1977 - Full marathon here.

Dave - Take it easy on the hip. Do you do any ITB stretches?
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: VIP Porta+Potty :lmao: :lmao: seems like an oxymoron. I love the drawing of the matre' de.

Yeah, I try to do a couple of ITB stretches. Seems like the thing that helps me the most though is rest, but I don't think I have time for rest if I really want to do the full at Philly. I may have to alter my plans of trying for a sub-4 hour marathon at Philly. I'm just hoping now I can run and have fun and not be in too much discomfort during the race.

Yahoo Colleen- Congrats on signing up!

YAY!! That means we can run together...maybe...I should start training, huh?:rolleyes1

I was thinking that too Jodi. It would be fun to run and not talk with you again... Oh and, bah, you've been training. Who's out there doing the tempo-yucky runs and long runs?

Jodi wrote: Hey, YOU talked, I just listened...isn't that what men ultimately want anyway?

Jodi~ I don't exactly think that is at the TOP of our list. :lmao: Close though. :rotfl:

Yeti and other random Disney things report. (I think this is going to be long)

I had a really good time at this race. I thought that they did a good job of organizing it. The one thing that was a little frustrating is the fact that Matt and I started 45 minutes after our friend (Rhodri) who we came to the race with. I understand that they needed to space people out so that everyone wasn’t at the obstacle course at the same time, but it would have been nice if there was a way to be able to start with the group you came with. Although, it was really cool to see Rhodri in second place at the end of the 5k (as we were still waiting in the starting area) and then he finished the obstacle course in first place. But, then he fell apart. He hadn’t been to AK in about 8 years and had not looked at any of the sample clues, so he had a hard time on the scavenger hunt. He also said that the volunteers kept yelling at him to get back on the course and he had to keep explaining that he had already finished the 5k.

The run did get a little crowded. The path was pretty narrow and dark and there were a lot of people walking in groups. We didn’t really have any trouble politely passing people who were still on the 5k part, but we did have some trouble with people who were on the scavenger hunt part just standing in the middle of the course trying to read their booklets and not wanting to move. Not really a big deal, but kind of annoying. The obstacles were easy except for the first one (the bar was up to my shoulders). I’m not sure I could have done that one without Matt’s help – not short people friendly.

Things were a bit backed up going in the obstacle course. We had to wait a bit at the cargo net and the balance beam. Also there was no water at the end of the 5k race part so after the obstacles, we lost some time waiting in line trying to pour (nasty hot) water from jugs into little paper cups.

During the after party, Matt and I rode EE 3 times. It really is a great ride to do in the dark. (and no, Jodi, we did not hurl).

I really loved being at Disney this time of year. I loved the food and wine festival. We went to some of the food demonstrations (free food!), beer seminar (free beer!), and spent a TON of money at the little kiosks. On Monday, we ate at the Wave and I honestly thought it was one of the best meals I’ve had at Disney. We also did evening EMH at MK on Monday and it was really not crowded. I would love to come back next fall for another fall race, food and wine, and maybe try to do MNSSHP (since we won’t have APs then). I also really loved staying at the AKL. We got really lucky with the special rate ($155/night) standard view rooms that ended up being obstructed savanna view. Sure we had a construction view, but we also saw tons of animals from our balcony.

Colleen – Congrats on finishing the 15 and I’m excited to hear that you registered for the marathon! Thanks for posting about the registration numbers. I finally was able to convince Matt that he needed to go ahead and register this morning. He’s in for the full!

Dave – I’m glad I got to meet you and I’m glad I was able to introduce you to Rhodri before the race so that he had someone to hang out with while waiting for us to finish. He ended up leaving soon after Matt and I finished, so his ride on Everest with you was his only ride. For the IT Band – try a foam roller. Matt has IT Band issues and swears by it.

Jodi – Spencer seems so nice and normal. How did that happen?!

Lou – I hope you are able to get rid of the on coming cold.

Howard and Mike – I can’t believe the MCM is so soon. I’ll be out there cheering after I finish the 10k. The port o pottie bag check area is the same for both races, so we should try to meet up beforehand. Mike – Love the VIP PoP. I showed that to Matt and he said that he would buy a Brooks shirt just to get in (and I know he’s not kidding). Oh, and Mike, I do believe you have stepped up your game a bit (but Jodi did make it rather easy for you).

Steve – I’m glad to hear that the achilles is coming around. And if you can run 7, you can likely finish the half.

Sara – I hope your dance thing (what is that anyway?) went ok.

Chester – Nice job kicking Matt’s and my butts by 2 seconds!

Mla1977 – Full here. Is the 8k at the same time as the full and half?

Ran 10 this morning. Nothing special, but it was my first run in long sleeves! Yay for fall! I'll do some sort of recovery run thingy tomorrow, and I think I am going to end up running 17 on Saturday and then the ATM on Sunday. The schedule calls for an 8-15K race on Sat. and 17 on Sunday. Since the race is on Sunday, I think I'll have to do the 17 on Saturday even though it will obviuosly effect my performance.
