Colleen - :wave2: A little late but hello.

It is nice to see where all the speedy people are now. Hopefully one day I can get within eyesight of some of these paces.

Bill

Hey Bill, no speed here, still walking.

Hugs to your family.

Hi everyone! Today was an XT (Dance Lesson) day for me. We learned the most basic steps of the Fox Trot and Swing dance steps. The lesson was just over 45 minutes. It was enjoyable and we have our next lesson at 7:30 PM next Tuesday. There will be a total of 3 private lessons, 3 group lessons and 3 dance parties/events. It should be fun and will undoubtedly humble me (and possibly Cam) a bit in the process.

Tomorrow - 5 miles.

Bill~ It's never too late to sign up, or just come to cheer everyone on and attend the lasagne party too.

I am really happy that most of you seem willing (and able) to come to our home the night before a big race to enjoy our company and some excellent lasagne, garlic bread, etc. from an excellent cook and super Scream-Team member (Cam). We will certainly have room to have you over and your family/children if they are long for the trip. We can talk closer to the event. I would suggest PMing me with your definite RSVP and a count of attendees and we can take it from there.

Chester~ I would assume that packet pick up is the day before (lasagne day) so you could get a ride back here with us and possibly a ride back to Philly with another WISHer or I could drop you back... not a big issue at this point.

Have a great night!

Hey PhillyBots!

Howard - Wow, this is too kind of you & Cam, really :grouphug: . We'll find a way to get out to where you are. I will send you an RSVP PM when we get closer. Too cool about the dance lessons. I assuming you two are renewing your vows @ Disney since it's on the Jan. 12th (just after marathon weekend). Love to hear what you guys are doing if it's not too personal  .

Dave - Are the girlies bawling 'cause you're going to Disney without them?

Chester - You, Tracy, Bruce & I can hitchhike out to Delaware, no worries! I hope you're over that cold by Philly :rolleyes1 .

Cindy - Holy crap, your job's beat!! How'd the 14 go this a.m.?:headache: I was thinking about you when I rolled outta bed @ 5:15.:sad2: . Did you get the Budget code I pm'd you?

Steve - What's up with your computer, dude??

Louting - Keep up with the icing & stuff on your knee, how'd the biking feel? I'd sit PDR out, dude. I've gotta buy your sister's book! Too cool!

MikeSter - Sadly I haven't gotten a chance to use my weapon yet, but it's always @ the read should I encounter a nasty Chihuahua on my early morning jaunts!;)

Sara - What's up?

Canada - How's the bod feel? What kind of wine do you drink? I can't drink wine anymore...sordid story from my teen days...but enjoy an ale once in a while. This usually reduces me to a sleeping heap of uselessness on the couch while Bruce & I try to watch a movie :confused3 .

I ran 6 this a.m. (almost went 8, but it was feeling so good I didn't want to ruin it :rotfl2: ). Nice & cool out & I feel like maybe I'm worthy a new pair of sneakers soon.

Cindy - What sadistic training program are you using exactlypopcorn:: :rolleyes1 ? Please tell me you're like 25 years old or something as well:laughing: . I mean, as the next youngest woman on this thread, I'll be 40 in January and you're so putting me to shame so I'm hoping you're WAY younger than I am:lmao: . 50 WHAT miles in a week:confused3 ? I do have to thank you for making me feel MUCH less type A however:rotfl2: .

Jodi - OMG, I just about PMP with the hitchhiking comment:rotfl: . Treat yourself to a new pair of shoes for sure:thumbsup2 Travel safe:hippie:

Howard - The dance lessons do sound divine:cloud9: Glad you guys are having a blast with them!

Lou - Still praying for your knee:wizard: and hopefully you'll be able to make it work this weekend or be at peace with bagging it:hug: .

Chester - Loads of :wizard: for your sinus infection as well. It can't be fun in the heat with that nonsense going on:rolleyes1 .

Dave - It'll be loads of fun in Philly so I hope you don't miss the family too much:) . Are you flying into PHLpopcorn:: ?

Mike - :rotfl2: About the internet safety talk. Yeah, we're all a bunch of irresponsible parents:rolleyes1 . Hoping the leg's feeling fine these days:thumbsup2 .

5 miles this morning on dead legs but it actually felt better than I thought it was going to. Nothing beats a twilight run with a fleece and gloves on. I will bike tonight or run a few more miles:cheer2: .

I realized that you actually can view the schedule I am using online. The online schedule doesn't explain the different runs, but here it is for anyone who is interested.
http://www.roadtoboston.com/djapps/trainingPlans/viewPlan/5/

Oh, and I'm 30, btw.:)

Jodi - Yes, thanks for the code. We have decided to definitely get a car (although we are going to try to get an even cheaper rate on priceline before using the code). Are you getting a car or will you be taking the bus from AKL to the race? We will probably still take the bus because we'll give the car to my pregnant friend who is not running.

As for my 14 miler :rolleyes1

Didn't happen. I was way too tired from getting so little sleep on Monday night so I decided to switch today's run with tomorrow's. I ran 6 this morning (the weather was great - loved it!) and will have to do the 14 tomorrow. Probably not the best idea given that fact that I'm running a half marathon on Sunday, but I don't think it will really make a difference. I'll then run 6 slow recovery miles on Friday, rest Saturday, and run the PDR on Sunday!

Hey, everyone! I just thought I'd subscribe to this thread and say "HI!" at the same time to some of my very favorite WISHers in the world! :grouphug:

I am really excited that many of you are interested in having lasagna with us the day before the marathon. As it gets closer, we can start figuring out logistics and numbers. We have plenty of room for everyone. Mike, it will be fabulous to see you and Kathy, and your kids are more than welcome! :grouphug: There is a play area in our basement, too, where we can set up the Wii if you think they'd be bored listening to race talk before/after dinner. ;)

And while I'm here, just wanted to wish all with ailments quick healing and no pain. pixiedust:

Dave -- Congratulations on your PR. I am so happy for you! And I can't wait to give you a huge congratulatory hug in person. Look at how far you have come! I remember when you first ventured onto the WISH weekly training thread! :thumbsup2

Sara -- You must be so outrageously proud of DD!! Jenn has also done this for Locks of Love and we were really proud of her for being so kind. Please give your sweetie a huge hug from me! Hopefully she'll remember the crazy lady scream teaming on Main Street with her and taking pix of the back of her awesome tee shirt at marathon weekend 2007! princess:

Bill -- You can still come for lasagna and help me scream team! :cheer2:

Can't wait to see you all in a couple of months!

Cam -  You KNOW I have WISH pictures framed in my house and my DD's think you guys all live right around the corner;) . Thank you so much for checking in with us and for graciously offering to host the WISH meet:grouphug: Looking forward to seeing you real soon!

Cindy - :worship: You're crazy girl!! I hope you have an awesome run at PDR this weekend:banana: :cheer2: Please seriously think about giving your legs a rest for the weekend:thumbsup2

I am glad Cam came on the thread to say hello! :lovestruc   :flower3:

I ran a somewhat easy 5 miles tonight. Since I am running in the Philadelphia Distance Run this Sunday and I am kind of in a "take it easy" non-taper. I am going to run one more time before Sunday... 5 or 6 miles really easy. Here is what I accomplished:

Miles: 5.03
Time: 45:10
Pace: 8:59

Splits:
8:53
9:24
8:52
9:00
8:46

I really did try to take it easy and run comfortably. I had some ankle discomfort but stretched out a bit off and on during the run and it cleared up. I need to make sure I stretch well before the half this weekend.

Have a great night!

:grouphug:

Howard

Cindy - Sorry you had to go to North Jersey. Not one of my favorite places to go. You are running some major miles I see. I could never run that far before work. Way to go.

Howard - If you meet my wife this weekend don't mention those dance lessons. She has been dying to take lessons ever since Dancing with Stars. I find reasons to get out of it. I saw a few days ago that you ran a 5-minute mile or something. Can I tie a skateboard to you and drag along for the PDR?

Jodi - Nice job with the 6. Go get yourself those sneaks.

Sara - Thanks for the prayers. Something must be working because I am walking with only a slight limp today.

Day 4 of no activity for me. I think if I continue to lay low I can make it on Sunday. You know it will be tough for me to pass up this race. My knee is still hurting but not too bad. I can climb steps without too much pain. I figured I will wrap the knee tight on Sunday and pop some Tylenol an hour before the start. I'll ice the heck out of it Saturday night and warm it up Sunday AM. Once I get started I will be fine. No worries...I have DW (ER Nurse) waiting at the finish line and BiL (trauma surgeon) will be about an hour behind me.

I think this is how Brian Westbrook played all last season for the Eagles on a bad knee. Skip all the practices and just show up for the games.

Lou

I ran a somewhat easy 5 miles tonight. ... "take it easy" non-taper.

Pace: 8:59

Howard

An easy pace of 8:59. :scared1:

Are you sure you aren't competing for the elite spots at the front of the marathon course.

Way to go on the run.

Bill

I need some advice here people.

On marathon day, the race starts at 7:00 a.m. If I do a walk/run it will take me 5.5 hours but if I walk the whole way it may take me 6-6 1/2 hours to finish, so it could be 1:30 before I cross the finish line. So by the time I go through and get my medal, food, etc, it may be 2:00. Oh, forget it, I think I have my answer. I have two choices for flights home, a "Jodi" time of 4:12 p.m. and another flight leaves at 7:25 p.m. So if I know we are going for drinks after the race, I will book the 7:25 time. So will anyone be around??

Oh by the way, Hi CAM!! Thank you for the generous dinner invitation.

Lou -- I'll be sure to casually mention to your wife that I'm not running so that I can save my legs for ballroom dancing. ;) J/K

Colleen -- Oh, I think you definitely have to plan on hanging around afterwards for drinks. Anyone who has to be checked out of their hotel and wants a place to hang out and/or shower is more than welcome to come back to our place. With traffic, it is, at most 30 minutes. :grouphug:

ETA: Sara, that is so "you." I will never forget meeting your gorgeous, smiling girls! I'm glad they know Mommy is well-loved and has a universe of friends "just around the corner." :goodvibes :lovestruc

Cam - Thank you so much for your generous invitation. I'm looking forward to meeting you this weekend.

Howard - I seem to remember from a few posts back that our half PRs are within seconds of each other. I'm hoping that I have a shot at knocking a few seconds off of mine, but with the training runs you've been doing, you seem to be setting yourself up to kill yours! I'm so happy that it looks like the weather will coooperate.

Colleen
- Matt and I will be around to have drinks/get food with you. We are staying over Sunday night so that neither of us has to deal with driving back after running a marathon.

Lou - I'm happy to hear that your knee is feeling better. Hopefully I'll get to see you on Sunday.

I did my 14 mile run this morning. Other than the fact that I ran the same mile five times in a row (because it was so dark outside at the rest of the trail had almost no lighting) it was not a bad run. I am loving this fall weather.

And completely OT:offtopic: I have to interview someone today who has listed on his resume that he was a Homecoming King Finalist in college in 2004. Seriously? Am I missing something? I totally don't get why anyone would ever think that is something that belongs on a resume. And now I already don't like this guy.

[ I have to interview someone today who has listed on his resume that he was a Homecoming King Finalist in college ....

:lmao: :rotfl:

Not the Homecoming King, but the Finalist!:rotfl:

Cam and Cindy, thanks for your advice. I think I will choose the later time. (I am still debating whether I should fly home Monday morning and not be stressed about catching a plane?!?)

Aw come one! That's not stressful @ all! I can give you some pointers :rotfl: !

Cindy - You can NOT hire that guy! What a freak!! Like that's SO relevant to a job interview...let me know if he's a blond! Holy crud, congrats on that pre-dawn 14! :worship: Very impressive & humiliating, all at the same time :rotfl: . You're gonna kick butt on Sun!

Cam - Greetings! Thank you so much for your generosity & kind invitation! You are too kind. I can't wait to meet you & Howard. I remember you from the main boards back in '05 before it got SO big & I "flunked out" :rotfl: . I was getting ready for my first 1/2 marathon in Jan. of '06 & drew a lot of inspiration from you & the others there.

WaterLou - I have to voice my concern on your decision to run on Sunday. If you're still LIMPING today, chances are running 13.1 MILES 3 days from now will set you back quite a bit! I'm not trying to be negative, but please be careful & perhaps re-think your decision! Or resolve yourself to the fact that you WILL drop out if it becomes too painful @ the PDR.

Sara - Don't believe Cindy, she says she's 30 but she looks like she's around 17! princess:!:rotfl2:

Howard - I agree with Bill (even though i don't know him), 8:59 is an easy pace now??? I'll be eatin' your dust big time in Philly!!:worship:

Dave - Hi. I'm running. It's going pretty good!

Mike - Do you ever give people the wrong doses of meds. just for yucks? :yay:

Chester - Looking forward to hoisting the anchor & setting sail next week? What's the weather like down there?:headache:

Bill and Cam - So great to see you 'round these parts!

Cam - Thank you again for your hospitality. Much appreciated. What are your running plans for WDW this year?

Bill - I'm about a month behind posting miles on the DDD thread. Vic probably thinks I up and left town.

Mike - Do you ever give people the wrong doses of meds. just for yucks? :yay:
Jodi, Jodi, Jodi... As much fun as that could be, "Detention Center Orange" jumpsuits make me look washed out so I've decided against such hijinx.

Don't I recall someone questioning why you haven't posted anything about running lately?:confused3

Cindy - I just can't imagine getting up and running 14 miles before work. You are my hero.

So how was Mr. Congeniality? Did he wear his sash? Give you a little princess wave? Does the job involve riding on a float?

Lou - The last thing I'll say is 13.1 miles is a long way with even a little limp.

I guess I better post something about running or Jodi will be all up my...

I seem to be in a 6 mile rut lately. I ran 6 around the track at DD's soccer practice Tuesday. It ended up being an inintentional tempo run. Who knew that it's easier to run a little faster on a little flat oval?? Then I ran 6 Wednesday from the piano teacher's house. Pretty slow and sluggish but my quad seems to be feeling alright.

I'm supposed to run 14 in the morning but I'm not sure if my schedule will allow it for a couple of days (We can't all be Cindy!). I'm hoping I can get past 6 miles.

See ya!

Colleen - I plan to stick around. However, I'm "hoping" I can finish in 4 hours, say 11AM. By "sticking around" I mean I'll try to hang near the finish as long as possible but last year it was cold and rainy. If the weather is bad I imagine I will make my way towards the bar/restaurant/meeting place we come up with for the after race get together. Assuming we have one.

Cindy - I'll definitely see you on Sunday. on that note...

Howard, Cindy, and anyone else that is running the PDR - Where do you want to get together before and after the race? Last year I hung out on the bottom of the Art Museum steps (near the Rocky statue) before and after the race. Do you want to try to get together there?

Jodi and Howard - Thanks for the concern. I still haven't made a final decision. It's hard. Last night I had to coach DD's soccer game and I tried to jog on the field...not good. My knee felt great but my hip felt like bone on bone. I think the limping for 2 weeks has affected the hip. I jogged in the parking lot later that night and found that the pain was somewhat bearable and lessened the more I jogged.

Here's where I an leaning. I will show up on Sunday with the intention to finish the PDR. I don't expect to stick with Howard "Speedy" Gonzalez but I think I can manage a run/jog/walk for 13.1 miles. Then I will try to seriously rehab for the next month. This stinks! My last name is Rodriguez so you know I got that whole Latino macho boxer thing going. I just hope I don't end up like Roberto Duran..."No mas".

Lou

Hello everyone! I plan on signing up for the 8k for this. I haven't had a chance to visit the website in a while though. I'll update in a bit to let you know when I've signed up!
