Greetings Everyone: Wow, I had an exhausting day with my interviews yesterday. From 9am-3:15p I had hour meetings set up where I bounced from person to person. People asking me tons of questions about the job, why I think I'm qualified, what I would do in it, etc. Plus, I had two hour long presentations to give in there as well. All and all, I think it went well. The last meeting I had was with the search committee, and it was the toughest group. Plus I was wearing down by that point, and wasn't sure how my answers were sounding. I was starting to feel like I was repeating myself a lot. We'll see how it goes. I'm off to a conference in Ithaca today and tomorrow. Plus my DW's grandmother is having her 100th birthday party in Ithaca tomorrow as well. Right after my conference I'm meeting up with the family to go to the party. I'm hoping to get a run in after my meeting today, and maybe sometime on Saturday too. We'll see...

Have a great day everyone!

Yay Do Do! (Is that what we should call you now?)

Um, no, that's ok, but somehow i don't think that I'll have a choice  .

Dave - OMG, that interviewing sounds very stressful. All the interviews I've been in never lasted more than 25 mins. :lmao: . Don't sweat it, I'm sure you did fine! When do you find out if you get the job  ?

Jodi - Loved the video:love: !! You're really lucky to have such a great support team:thumbsup2 .

Dave - Glad you think the interviews went well:yay: . Fingers crossed and please keep us updated.

Mike - :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Cindy - The 20 miles seems understandable now that Jodi reminded me you've got a marathon coming up:eek: . As for the time goal, you'll definitely beat it:banana: . I swear the only reason I ran a 4:29 at Grandma's last June (seems like a lifetime ago:confused: ) was because I told Colleen I would. You're more than ready to meet your goal:cool1: . Just be sure to mind the taper!

Chester - Thanks for checking in:thumbsup2 !

Thanks for all of the :wizard: for the 8 miles tomorrow. I've got a lot of self-imposed drama going on again so we'll see:rolleyes1 . On second thought, I may appreciate the time out of the house:rotfl2: ;)

Happy training to all this weekend:cheer2:

Hi everyone!!!!

It looks like my first official training for the MCM/Phila. Marathons is going to be the Minnie 15K! I am going (don't ask me why - I've got so much school stuff to get accomplished in the next 3 weeks)!

Nice to see everyone posting. :grouphug:

WARNING: I will be an active part of the group beginning in June.

Howard

Heck, I'm not about the running hardly at all. I'm here to make an a** of myself.

I'll leave the second part alone, but I don't think you can really claim that you're not about the running, what with your super fast times and all.:thumbsup2

Dave - I hope you have a nice time at the 100th b-day party. :wizard: For finding good news out about the job.

Chester and Howard - hi! I look forward to meeting you both next weekend.

Sara - Extra :wizard: for your run. Don't worry, I have every intention of having a nice three week taper.

Ran 5 miles this morning. Schedule called for "race pace." I have no intention of running any miles during the marathon at faster than 10 min/mile but I decided I would use the marathon pace that is projected based on my half and run at that pace for these "race pace" training runs. So I ran it at around a 9:37 pace. I guess I'm ready for my 20 tomorrow:scared:

Matt got pooped on this morning while running :rotfl: (by a bird, in case that wasn't clear) It's only funny because it didn't happen to me.:rotfl:

Chester and Howard - hi! I look forward to meeting you both next weekend.

Cindy
I'm looking forward to next weekend too. Are you going to be at the Saturday W.I.S.H. meet?

When my run calls for "race pace" I usually base it upon the distance for that scheduled run, not for the pace of the race that I'm training for. Good luck with your 20 tomorrow.

Howard
Are you going to be at the Saturday W.I.S.H. meet?

Sara
Enjoy your 8 miles tomorrow. I think that 8 milers are my favorite training distance. They are long enough that I can really "zone out", but still short enough that I don't have to carry water and Gu's. I've got 8 scheduled for Sunday.

Jodi
I'm on chapter 1 in Chi Running. It's my prefered reading material inthe "Jodiroom".

Mike, Dave and Colleen
Hey Guys, I still alive and look forward to seeing you again in Philly.

DD's State Cup Soccer Tournament second round is tomorrow. The top 16 teams in the State are playing in single elimination games to see who will be the top 8. Saturdays winners will play Sunday to determine the final 4. The losers go home.

Tracy and I are heading to WDW in the gas hogging Ark on Friday for Minnie Weekend. I talked Tracy into doing the 5k also since I accidently registered myself twice.

Best wishes and good times to all,

Chester
W.I.S.H. Half-Fast Marathon Team

Chester~ Yes, I will be there!

Cindy ~ I am looking forward to it!

Safe travels to all!

:grouphug:

Howard :cheer2: I can't believe the final countdown is on for your school!! Congrats!

Chester - Tell your DD good luck from you DisBots!:yay:

WISH I was going to Minnie :sad1: , you guys are gonna have so much FUN!

Anxiously awaiting all the LR reports from today!popcorn:: popcorn:: :rolleyes1 popcorn::

I'm putting various podcasts on my Shuffle for my run. Its already 70 out and should be about 80 when I'm done 4 hours from now :scared1: Clearly I should have gotten myself together a little earlier.:rolleyes1 I'll check back in this afternoon. Trying to stay positive, but I don't have a great feeling about this run:scared:

I have an actual LR report:banana: ! I ran 7 miles and then walked/hobbled home for the last mile but I am feeling okay now so I'll consider it a victory:woohoo: . Splits are as follows: 10:15, 10:07, 9:55, 10:00, 9:57, 10:08 & 10:14.
I still continue to do whatever I can to self-diagnose this ever-elusive lower leg injury plaguing me. I am a foam rolling fool as of late:confused3 After I run right under my knee (not under the kneecap but lower than the knee) seems to sieze up and it's more painful for me to walk than run. I still have until 5/6 to get back in with the ortho for the MRI resultspopcorn:: .

Cindy - I hope the 20 went well for you this morning and that the heat wasn't too much of a factor:hug: .

Howard - Have a blast at the Minnie and I am looking forward for your active participation on this thread:thumbsup2 (I am sure your bride told you I was requesting your presence over here  ). Congrats on the MBA:worship: !

Chester - I hope you and Tracy also have an awesome time at the Minnie next weekend:cheer2: ! Please let us know how DD made out with the state soccer tourney:yay: .

Colleen - Miss you:hug: and I hope you're hanging in there. Are we still going to dish over cocktails at WDW in a mere two months:hippie: . We don't even have to utter the word "running":rotfl: .

I hope everyone else is having a great weekend:grouphug: .

Sara - I'm glad you were able to get a run in! I hope your leg is still feeling ok tomorrow.:wizard:

I need to go get ready for a wedding we have to go to tonight, but I thought I should post that I did survive the 20 miler. Not my finest run, my pace was slow, I have some weird chaffing from my fuel belt, FIVE blisters on my toes, but it's done.

Good Morning Team:

Congrats on the 20 miler Cindy. I'm kind of out of it right now. What are you training for? Is this 20 miler for the Rock and Roll Marathon in June?

Sara- I'm proud of you for getting your long run in. I'm thinking seriously of signing up for the Lake Placid 1/2M. I need something to train for right now.

Mike- It turns out I can't run the Cleveland 1/2M afterall. Rochester's graduation is that day, and I have a Master's student graduating. So I need to be there for it. Do you want my bib? I actually registered for the marathon, but I was going to switch to the half.

OK, I'm still in Ithaca for DW's grandmother's 100 birthday festivities. I ran 2 miles on the treadmill Friday night after my meeting, and really struggled to get that done. I think I was just exhausted because I went to bed at 9pm that night and slept straight through till the morning. I'm telling myself that I'm going to take this weekend off, and get back to training on Monday. I'm hoping I can get a really good week of training in next week. Help me please!!!

Dave - Please let me know if you do decide to do the LP 1/2. I am not registered yet but I will for sure if you decide to come east for the race:thumbsup2 . Just take the weekend off and start fresh Monday morning. I am sure you're also mentally exhausted from the interviews and you really should rest:) .

Cindy - I hope the wedding was lots of fun and that you danced the night away to ward off soreness from the 20 miles:cool1: .

Jodi - Any running this weekend or are you taking a well-deserved breakpopcorn:: ?

I think I am going to XT today. I'm feeling okay but I don't want to push my luck:) .

Good Morning!

Cindy: Congrats on getting the 20-miler in. How did it go? What podcasts did you listen to? popcorn::

Sara: Nice job on the 7-miler. :thumbsup2 As for the sub-patellar pain, try really stretching the quads (before and after the run); sounds like it could be a little patellar tendon inflammation, which could be attributed to any number of causes: increased mileage, old/new shoes, shifting muscle length from all your foam-rolling, etc. Also, try icing the knee down after your run for 15-20 mins. Good luck! :wizard:

Dave: Hi! Man, you have been busy; I hope your schedule becomes a little more normal and you rediscover some of your training mojo for this week. :thumbsup2

Howard, Chester: Nice to see you guys checking in. I'm jealous you are off to Minnie Weekend in several days.:)

Hi Jodi, Mike, Colleen, Lou and others! :wave2:

My (L) achilles is Not Good! :headache: I have not run in 5 days and it is still extremely tender to the touch and sore when I even walk. I did bike with the kids the other day and it did not seem to bother me, so I guess I'll have to dust off the road bike this week. I'm getting a little concerned as I have the 25K trail race in another month and I need to get some pain-free LRs in.

Take care all!

Hey McPhillys!

Cathy - :worship: On the 20 miles AND going to a wedding afterwards! I hope this run didn't effect your dancing status & you were able to put on your boogie shoes:cool1: ! Also, I was laughing when you posted about your husband getting pooped on!:rotfl: I'm sure he wasn't, though!

Sara - :woohoo: :yay: WOW, I'm so pleased that your leg/knee/leg didn't give you a hard time!! That's huge!! Good for you! Good idea to take it easy today though, maybe a short run tomorrow? Lake Placid 1/2, huh??

Dave - OMG, please just take it easy the rest of the weekend. I get stressed out just reading your posts! Tomorrow's run will be good, you'll see. How's the hip? So are you going to sign up for Lake Placid, too? Quick, someone tell me how far that is from my house & how much it'll cost me!:rotfl2:

Steve - My L achilles was bothering me yesterday, but only slightly. I've been trying to walk a bit lately & lay off the running but it seems I don't walk right:lmao: :confused3 'cause I'm getting all these aches & pains!!

Where is everyone this weekend?:sad1:

So like I said, I've been walking because I can't really put any close-toed shoe on because my 2 toes are so sore! Not because of the blisters (popped long ago), just because they're all beat up & stuff, bruised-like. Therefore I've been wearing my Crocs for a week straight...I've been getting more weird stares than usual, too, because most of the time I wear them with socks :confused3 . Today I went on the Elliptical for 50mins., in my Crocsw/Sox :rotfl: . Perhaps tomorrow I'll try to lace up & get out there?
