Angela - Welcome! Please don't judge us (them) too harshly. A number of us (them) are currently in the throws of severe emotional uphevel.

What I'm really trying to say is that other than you and me, everyone here is freakin' nuts!!

Jodi - Please ignore everything above. I was in no way referring to you. You're as normal and mentally sound as the next person (as long as the next person is B. Spears).

What's Bruce's work number? Maybe I'll call and advise him to work late, like until Tuesday.

Jodi, Jodi, Jodi - Relax girl! You need to take it easy (not Colleen easy...[/B]

Mike, I resemble that remark, and the one earlier, and the one before that!

Angela, pleaasse, don't believe a word these people say about me, especially that Jodi, she USED to be my friend. :sad1:

I am officially making a "nice" and "used to be nice" list of you McPhilly peeps... if I quit talking to you, you know which list you are on!

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

I'm waking up and fueling up for my long bike ride this morning. I'm still resting my hip.

I got an e-mail from SockGuy this morning. They're the ones that made our WISH socks. Check out what they have now. I might have to get me some of these. Armwarmers that match our uniform perfectly!

Dave - Good Morning :surfweb: . Those things are cool, although I'm afraid my arm would look like a flourescent sausage squeezed into one of those! Good luck on your back ride.

Colleen - OK, I won't get the t-shirt. I actually wanted to get it for me, but Bruce didin't like the idea of me walking around advertising that I'm a marathon Ho!??:rotfl2: What a prude.

Mike - You have truly missed your calling in life & should have been a psychologist...I feel much better this a.m. (although the anger doesn't usually rear it's ugly head til around mid-day). No liqour, no 911 domestic violence calls last night...:cool1: I think I"m on the road to recovery:thumbsup2 .

Hi Angela - Welcome to our happy little "home".:yay: . Kudos on signing up for Goofy, you'll do fine!

Seriously, I've decided to run only 6 miles today & be happy with it....I think! OK, guys, confession time. I really, really miss that Disney racing weekend & obviously need to get a life so I stop thinking about it:laughing: . Still on the fence w/ Minnie, but definitely planning on Everest. I know, I know, $100 for a 5K is soooo stupid, but no one ever accused me of being all that bright, folks. Besides, when you're a DVC member, you pretty much know that Disney's linked up to your checking account & they've brainwashed you:dance3: .

Wow, things were quiet there for a while. I go to A.C. for the day and all kinds of activity break out.

Dave - I heard you on the podcast yesterday!

Cindy - Nice race pic. I have one that looks like I am near death. Not sure if I want to even share it. Those instant notifcation emails kill me too.

Jodi - Those are some pretty deep posts. I hear you though. It's been kind of tough to come back from WDW to dreary gray days and no races in sight. I'm no psych specialist so I'll defer to the DIS doctors that are offering such great advice. Snap out of it.

Angela - Hello and welcome. You caught the thread at an interesting time.

Colleen, Chester, Mike, Steve x 2, Sara and anyone I missed - Have a nice weekend and good luck on any races/LRs.

I kicked butt on the presentation in A.C. today. Don't ask me how but I actually made a presentation on mapping to a bunch of land surveyors exciting. It's easy to come off as exciting when you are around a couple hundred surveyors.

I followed the plan and blew off work around 2PM yesterday. Hung out at Caesars and their new upscale mall for a while. They have some killer restaurants/bars and some great stores in there. For those who haven't been to A.C. in a while you need to see this new ocean mall that Caesars built. They also have some nice outlets now. Adidas, Nike, Rbx, and Converse stores for those who want sports gear.

After hanging out I ran a total of 5 miles along the ocean. 2.5 along the boardwalk from Caesars to Ventnor then 2.5 on the beach from Ventor back. It was a much needed change of pace. Jodi - I don't know how far you are from the ocean but this 48 minute run busted me out of a little funk.

No gambling for me. Need the $$$ for all of these races.

I know there where things said in the middle of the week that I wanted to respond to, but now, after yesterday, they are so many pages back :confused3

Cindy - DW asked me today why you were drunk all the time. I began to explain how it was a result of the methadone clinic in your area closing and all... no, not really. Just some fun due to your all inclusive vacation. She gently reminded me that vacations don't count and further reminded me of the Sunday evening of marathon weekend '07 when I decided to make my way around World Showcase. Margarita in Mexico, pastry in Norway and France, beer in Germany (Extra large), China, Japan, Morroco, UK (XL), and wine in Italy. I couldn't make it to Canada :confused3 .
[/B]

Yay! Thanks Kathy! It's nice to have some support around here (in interest of full disclosure, I must confess that last night I did violate my "no more than 2 beers the night before a long run" rule)

Angela - welcome!

Lou - Congrats on your presentation. You have to share your race picture! I actually haven't been to A.C. in a very long time. I really like Vegas, but I always found A.C. kind of depressing. Sounds like I should check out some of the new stuff. (But I wouldn't be able to stay away from the Black Jack tables - they give you free drinks, you know;) )

Jodi - Hope the 6 goes well for you. Since you miss marathon weekend, its obvious that you must do the Minnie! As for a fall Disney race, I would much rather do the Yeti than ToT (it sounds much more interesting) but I can't get over the price thing. Because of my "year of a million trips to Disney" DH and I are going to get annual passes and the outrageously overpriced Yeti includes a limited use one day park ticket and Disney has already said that they won't offer a special entry for annual passholders. That just seems wrong.

Dave - hope your ride goes well.

Sara - I hope you are resting your leg!

Colleen - I will defend your honor!

I decided to move Sunday's 12 miler to today. I'll get going in a bit. This will actually be my longest run since MCM. I'm looking forward to it. Lately most of my runs have been fast (or kind of fast) and this one is just supposed to be a nice easy run.

Cindy - Don't get me wrong, outside of the casinos A.C. is still depressing. Also, the beach is okay but I wouldn't swim there. Go to Ocean City, NJ if you want to swim.

However, due to competition from casinos in DE and PA, A.C. has had to spend billions on upgrading the casinos. Tropicana has a great shopping/restaurant/bar area (with an Imax theater) themed like Cuba. The Borgata is awesome. Harrahs spent a lot to compete with Borgata including an gigantic indoor pool/bar area. Caesars really spent a lot on this mall. A new, Vegas casino, called Pinnacle is building a monsterous casino near Borgata. It's worth a trip but I would stick to the casinos.

I may even consider their marathon in 2009.

Colleen - I will defend your honor!

Oh, thank you Cindy! I am good today, Jodi, you are my friend again!:thumbsup2

Jodi, when you said you missed the Disney racing weekend, do you mean you miss the marathon weekend?:confused3 Was it the stimulating conversation at lunch on Saturday or the small talk in the porta-potty line before the full? I have to admit, it was really great running into you, Sara and Mike and getting our pic taken! AH, good times, good times! (If you were not referring to marathon weekend, forget what I just wrote above.)

Lou, wow, sounds like you really lit up those surveyors! Sounds like one of my math and science conventions I used to go to when I was teaching full time!

I hope to get out for a walk today, but today is major house cleaning day. DH is still in pursuit of his Boston marathon dream, he is going out for 10 miles today, but he was limping as he walked out the door, so I dunno.:sad2:

Just checking in. My workout today...

3.1 miles at a 10.09 pace.
1.0 miles on the Cross-Trainer.

Just a warning, classes begin for me on Monday. Although you don't see much of me now, you'll see even less of me for the next 3.5 to 4 months. I will be with you in WISH Spirit though and want you to all keep training hard in my absence.

Be good and don't do anything I wouldn't do while I'm gone. :thumbsup2 :rolleyes1 I guess this means more here than on the main thread.

I am definitely in for the Philadelphia Marathon! I can't wait to finish up classes and get on with my training program. I hope to PR the Philly Marathon, to do that I need to better my 4:41:03.

:grouphug:

Howard

Hey DisPeeps!

Mike - Any running today?

Lou - SO glad your meeting went well, good for you!:thumbsup2 and then you got a run in to boot. You're my hero! Thanks for your concern, & I believe that I've "snapped out of it".

Colleen - Thanks for the forgiveness! Did you get any walking in this weekend? :grouphug: Of COURSE I meant the marathon weekend that we all shared:hippie: . That was truly, the best running experience I've ever had (don't forget there haven't been that many, though). From seeing you guys on Main St. to seeing Mike @ mile 12 of the half, to having lunch with you & dinner with the crew...I mean, what more could I ask for? Then, that picture @ the start of the full says it all (although we were missing some) & meeting up w/ Mike towards the end of the full is something I will always remember. It's tough to hold out until Philly when we're ALL together again, ya know? OK, I'll stop with the sentimenatlity now!

HummuSteve - What UP?

Sara - What up, sistah?

Cindy - How'd that 12 miles treat ya?

Chester - HOw ya feelin', bud? What was on tap today for you, again?

Howard - Thanks for checkin' in, dude!

Davey - How'd that bike ride go?

OK, I think the swilling nightmare that is my life has taken a turn for the better; I mean, no drinking last night & an awesome run today...so awesome, that I extended that 6 miles into 10 @ an avrg. pace of 9:32. I DID have an ale tonight, but find no need to have another (unlike Cindy...ahem:rotfl2: ), she's allowed, though, since she's like 20 years younger than I am.

Looking forward to hearing everyon elses LR reports!

Hi MCM/PMers....

Sorry..been totally MIA. I'm just too distracted with all the wish shirt :confused3; team challenge; defending my honor; etc etc etc to get over here and post. And it seems you all have gone a bit crazy since last I stopped by.

Anyway...Jodi...thanks for recommending the Chi Running book...or as someone I know calls it the Chai Tea Running book. . Anyway....thank you, it's really interesting and I'm enjoying it. Now if it can only help me to get faster and stay injury free. That's the hope!!! :goodvibes

I wish I could say I'm all caught up on what you guys have been up to but the best I gathered from a quick skim is that...

Steve is yelling and drinking.

Howard is abandoning us for that crazy thing called school.

Lou is gambling.

Cindy is drinking.

Jodi is in crisis.

Colleen...poor Colleen...taking the brunt of a lot of jokes!

Mike...well...up to his usual no good LOL!

OK...is that all correct? Sorry to those I missed. :)

I worked out a lot this week...although from looking at that darn challenge spreadsheet not nearly enough. God...i literally cannot add more hours to my week. How do they do it? Miles though...those I can add...and will hopefully someday. :rolleyes1 My reverse taper seems to be going really well LOL! As for Philly....I'm pretty sure I'll do the half and pretty much 100% at doing the Philly She Rox Triathlon. Anyone else here in for the fun? God help me.

Have a great weekend all!

Jodi
I cranked out 7 miles this afternoon in a light sprinkle and finished with a 9:54 average. I feel GOOD. Tomorrow I've got 14 scheduled.

Howard
I think that I will try to PR at Philly too. I'll be looking to better 4:55. I think that WDW will become my "Fun Run" of the year.

Colleen
I'm sorry:flower3: . Mike made me do it.

Lou
Way to go with the presentation. How's the Construction Industry doing up there? Things are starting to dive here. 4 people (1/3 of our staff) from our Architectural/Planning department were let go last week. The week before, 4 were let go from the Constructino division. It's getting scarry here:scared1: .

Cindy
Gotta love the Blackjack tables. New Orleans and Tahoe have been good to me. Las Vegas - not so good. Good luck with the nice-n-easy 12.

Dave
Lime Green sleeves? Very fashionable - and there is already a song about them.

Angela
Welcome to our little thread. Most of us here are already Goofy - really Goofy. Take a look at your calendar and pencil in the Philly Marathon for November 23rd. Where are you at in FL?

I'm thinking about giving a triathalon a try. There is a "my first triathalon" category at an event in Central Florida in March. I wonder if they have a "Neanderthal" category?

Happy training to all,

Chester

Thanks Chester! :)

Good luck with the tri! I was just talking to a girl who is getting ready to purchase a new bike and she talked about how the bike shop guy took 15 different measurements from the length of her femur to length of her forearm, etc. I guess there is a science to getting the right fit in a bike. There is a website where you can fill in all the stats to fit you with the right bike, I can ask her for the website addy.

OK, Air Tran is having a sale, direct flights from CLT to MCO for Minnie weekend for $170, which is a good fare out of CLT. CLT has a lot of extra airport taxes, etc. that other centers do not. I am really hestitant to buy my ticket because I have only put in about 20 miles since Disney marathon.:sad2: :sad2: I have lost that lovin' feelin' again. It lasted about 2 days.

Jodi, I enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Yes, Philly is too long before we the whole group gets together again.

Lou

Chester - The real estate market has been pretty slow here (South Jersey) for over a year. Most companies that depend on private work are suffering. My company is not hurting too bad (yet) because we do a LOT of work with state, federal, and local government. I also do a lot of work with water/sewer utilities and they keep spending money. I think it's bad everywhere right now.

Howard - I forgot about you on the last post...sorry. Good luck at grad school! Stop by the boards when you get a chance.

Lou

Hey Everyone,

Colleen - First, I noticed I wasn't mentioned in you last post. I believe I now know which list I'm on. I will work very hard to get back in your good graces:worship: .

Second, buy the tickets. Having an event in the nearer future to look forward to may just the ticket to get you going again.

Third, how did DH's run go?

Chester - Maybe you could preview the 2nd gen of the loin cloth for Colleen. You know, give her some added incentive for Minnie. She's really great!

How'd the 14 miler go?

Dave - Cool sleeves. I haven't looked around the other threads yet but I'd suggest holding off asking if anyone else wants to order them. All the shirt business is getting rough out there!

When are you planning on testing the hip out? Have you been doing any pool running or strictly biking? Speaking of bikes, wasn't that really sweet how helpful Colleen was, offering Chester all that info about bikes.

Lou - Way to wow your audience! Good job getting out and running when there were so many other distractions. Too bad Colleen wasn't with you. I'm sure she would have given you lots of luck at the tables. She has a certain aura about her that I'm sure brings good fortune to all around.

Amy - "Usual no good?" Hey, I even tried to defend your honor out there in the jungle!;)

Don't wear yourself out trying to get more time for the silly team challenge. It's a year-long thing, after all. BTW, have I ever mentioned what a wonderful teammate Colleen is?

Howard - Best of luck with your final semester. Pop in when you can. Did you know that Colleen is a teacher? I can't think of a more important profession!

Steves x 2 - I hope you guys are doing well. Hey, did you guys know that Colleen is Canadian? My dad is Canadian too. That practically makes us related!

Angela - So, do you have any events other than Goofy on the horizon? I'm so glad Colleen hooked you up with us. She is so good at making new friends!

Cindy - I hope you're not running this afternoon. Wicked doesn't even come close to describing the wind!! Did you know that Colleen is very statuesque? Excellent for drafting on a windy day!

Jodi - Still defunkified? I was starting to worry about you. Geeze, when you get all sentimental I get nervous. For what it's worth, I felt/feel the exact same way about marathon weekend (Don't tell anyone though. I'm trying to maintain the image of the wise-cracking smart a**.).

Nice job on extending your run yesterday. When is your ultra? Speaking of ultra; you know who is ultra-cool? That's right, Colleen!

I ran 16 miles yesterday. My legs were way tired and knees a little achy by the end. I'll attribute it to XT on the bike Friday. Rest day today then start the whole silly thing again tommorow.

Howard - best of luck in your last semester!

Lou - I saw that you posted your photo. Isn't it fun to remember how bad you felt?

Amy - I saw your pic too. No fair. You actually look good.

Colleen - go for it on the Minnie. You'll get that lovin' feelin' back (and even if you don't, its only 9 miles, you can wing it)

Jodi - Nice pace on the 10:thumbsup2

Chester - How'd the long run go?

I did 12 yesterday and 4 today. The 12 was going ok until I started getting a terrible blister around seven or eight miles on the side arch of my right foot. I don't normally get blisters, so I'm not sure why I got this one. I was really uncomfortable for the last three miles and my pace slowed a lot because I was trying to figure out how to land on my foot and make it hurt less.

For today's run I used body glide and wore different shoes and it actually didn't hurt too bad. It seems to have already developed a sort of layer of hard skin over it, although it is all squishy and blistery underneath (sorry TMI) - very odd.

Cindy - I hope you're not running this afternoon. Wicked doesn't even come close to describing the wind!!

I somehow must have gotten lucky and picked the 40 least windy minutes of the day to run during. I could hear the wind slaming against the windows of my condo (we live on the 19th floor and there are no other buildings even close to that high in the direction my unit faces) but then when I was running, it was windy, but didn't seem too bad. :confused3

Cindy - I guess it's funny. My sister had a good analogy when I described how bad I felt at WDW yet a few days later I wanted to run another marathon. She said that sounds a lot like childberth.

Mike - Great job on the 16. Man, you're way ahead of most of us. You're ready for another marathon.

Colleen - It's kind of a down time of year anyway. I'm sure you'll be ramped up with the miles for Philly come November.

Chester - Good luck with the triathalon. The swimming would kill me so I think a biathalon is the best I could dream for.

Amy - No gambling for me. Just a lot of window shopping. Hanging out at A.C. was just "sanity maintenance". Go for the Philly Marathon Amy!

Jodi - Great job on the 10 miles. Good to see you breaking out of the funk. Have another ale today and you'll be fine. I'm having a pale ale myself right now. SiL brought me some micro-brew from a Lake Placid ski trip. Like I said to Amy, this is another "sanity maintenance" procedure.

Knocked out 12 unmotivated miles today but it wasn't easy. There were wind gusts of 25-35 MPH throughout the run and the first 6 miles were directly into the wind. It evened snowed for 5 minutes after the run but I honestly didn't think it was that cold.

I wished I would have run another 6 miles or so in A.C. yesterday when I had the time and energy. Today just wasn't the least bit fun.

I was actually considering running the Ocean Drive Marathon (Cape May, NJ to Sea Isle, NJ) in March but there were a lot of complaints online about extreme winds for this race. I thought wind can't be that bad. Well, after today, I decided to forget about that race. The NJ Marathon on 5/4 is possibly my next marathon. DE Marathon on 5/18 is the runner up.

HELLO to all I missed!

Hi Guys!

Hope everyone is well. Nothing for me today as one of my knees has decided to be not so cooperative :headache:. You all seem to be doing well and cranking out mileage at will (and/or at current motivational levels ;) )

Have a great week, all! :goodvibes
