Gift basket with planning video, ears, "I'm going to Disney" t-shirt, small $ disney dollars for the little ones, this could get expensive but fun!

What a great thing for you to do for all of them!!

"Could get expensive," Tinker?! It already is! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
All kidding aside, I have to agree this is soooo much fun! :goodvibes

If you do a dinner. I had read an idea on the boards a while back. Get at cake at the grocery store-they do Mickey cakes or other Disney characters and instead of "Happy Birthday" have them write "We're going to Disney" on the cake.

Have a great trip! I just made a reservation for my 1st stay at Pop with just my DD (turning 7) but will also be at Disney (probably POFQ) with the rest of my crew (DS-5, DD-3, DH, and Dfriend) the last week of Aug. I went the last week of Aug last year and the parks were empty!

A cake for dessert that says "We're Going To Disney" is a fabulous idea, lovesdumbo!

Like you, we (3 of us) also went the last week of August last year-wasn't it wonderful?! :goodvibes

I made a framed announcement and my kids opened it at Christmas. I went to the scrapbook store and bought disney paper and stickers. I printed the announcement on pale vellum, used a blue iwth sparkly magic wands paper for background and placed character stickers all around (to hide the sticky tape). it was about $10 for the materials plus a frame. it is on display in the living room as a reminder. both girls have taken it to school for sharing time.

you could arrange a time (family dinner or same day package delivery) to give out a "little something you picked up".

"Santa" brought us a trip for Christmas, and the way we did it was to make a treasure hunt with clues, and everytime the kids found another clue, there was also a puzzle piece. Once they finished the treasure hunt, they had all the puzzle pieces -- when the puzzle was assembled, it was a message saying that we were going to Disney!

However you decide to tell them, it's going to be great! What a nice mom and dad you are.

How about a savenger hunt with the printed reservatrion letter at the end???

WOW! what fun--that is great for the them and how generous of you! Hope it is a SUPER trip! I am sure it will be!

What about a small family scavenger hunt, each of the items might include a hint to whereyou are doing. Or maybe send them little clues everyday in the mail,or e-mail. Then get them all together for dinner or something for the grand finale'. I am sure what ever you choose to do it will be amazing. Or maybe .....buy the Disney Trival Pursuit have you DH on the opposite team and you ask the Question: Where are Dad and Mom taking everyone on (The Date) Your DH will have the correct answer. What a magical moment this will be!!!! I am having the opportunity to go to WDW with my Mom and Dad, my DH Mom and Dad, with his sis'and three kids. I also think my brother and DW with their two kids are highly considering it. We are going to Pop, and the WORLD for 9 days. This will be a once in a lifetime event for all of us. I am even considering purchasing a memory brick in MK. I can relate to your excitement. Good Luck on your decision!!!!!!!!

My mother in law told each of her 3 sons that she had had a little extra $ from her tax refund but could only afford to take one of them with there family to disney, we were all at her house for dinner and she told them to randomly pick gift bags off the kitchen counter and they all opened them at the same time each of them went crazy thinking they had won when really all of them won, she planned the entire thing. :cheer2: Everyone was screamng it was soo much fun :woohoo:

I would go with this one! I love the idea of everyone winning. I would be screaming with the best of them if I was there! :cheer2:

I love the idea of having the littlest one wear a t-shirt to announce it! I think it would be neat because he/she wouldn't even know what they were doing. I'm sure he/she would love the reaction they would get. Everyone has put such great ideas on here. You're all so much more creative than I am. I was so exicted that we were planning our trip, that I just blurted it out to our DD. To the OP I think that you two are wonderful! May I please be added to the list of people to be adopted?? lol Let us know how it turns out please.

:cheer2: :cheer2: I don't have any better idea but I wont to know how you are doing it!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Oh! Can you give more details, kpk89? I do like the idea of a treasure hunt! And the idea of adding the puzzle pieces is so cool! :cool1:

As I have posted before, I do like the idea of a treasure/savenger hunt! Yet putting it all together is overwhelming me!

i would say invite everyone over for dinner and get mickey ears with everyones name on it..put them on each plate

OMG I need to subscribe to this thread if only to find out what the end result will be. Its so exciting, I love the scavenger and trivial pursuit ideas.

edited to add: just thought how about a fortune cookie message? each one could have a different word,
we're
all
going
to the
world
on
xxx
etc

I agree however you tell them do it quick ! Kids are bringing home summer school sign ups and summer camp sign ups and many places you need to put in for summer time off asap. This is so nice off you I would hate for it to be ruined if someone couldn't get off. I'm a VBS director and we scheduled our dates last Monday. so it is sneaking up.
Your kids are so lucky. My Mom wanted to do the same but things kept interferring actually coordinating it and then my Dad came down with Lung cancer then a stroke with chemo and was gone in 8 mos. So get everyone on board fast, go and have a great time.
ps. take alot of pictures and make sure there is a picture of everyone that is there alone with you.

Hey I have an idea for your Xmas gift to your kids next year how about photo albumns filled with the photo pass group shots you have taken thru the world and print off at walmart from the disc you buy at Disney .

I like the gift bag idea and tell them only one bag is a winner. I also like the cake idea. You won't spend as much $ on a cake and you can eat it while y ou talk about the trip.

I think you could mix up the t-shirt/game idea and make shirts for ALL of them. Put only a few letters on each of their shirts in no particular order. They had to figure out what order they have to stand in to figure out the message. You could use whatever message you want depending on how many letters you want on each shirt. If you really wanna be creative you could put a couple letters on the front of each shirt and wrap it around to the back but that would make for more thought. But this way the adults would definitely get to be in the fun and they will SURELY be excited when they figure out both the puzzle AND the meaning!!!
