As many of you know, my DH and I asked for your help on how to surprise my children, their spouses and our grandkids with an
all-expense-paid trip to Disney! DH & I are going, too. :teeth:

We finally choose the fortune cookie idea submitted by carolfoy! :thumbsup2

Now, onto phase II...

We are looking for suggestions on just what to write on the fortunes in the cookies! Little phrases that they will have to work together on to figure out the surprise!

Maybe you can come up with a scavenger hunt some how. Leave a bunch of clues for everyone to follow. When they get to the end maybe there can be a basket of goodies... maybe a t-shirt for everyone or a brochure or something. Maybe you can make a video tape of some sorts saying where your going and when and at the end of the hunt they will watch it and find out. Good luck in your surprise.

Oh, my! What a wonderful idea, Skylarr! :thumbsup2

I made up a word game when I surprised my kids with a trip. I know yours will be a bit different because I didn't let them know we were going til one hour before. I had printed up pictures and added clues to them, for example a picture of a cow with the words "question word that rhymes with ..." (= how) and the words spelled out "How would you like to go to the happiest place on Earth" then I had a sign that said "TODAY!!!" with a Mickey sticker. Considering it was 3:30am and all they knew was we were getting up early and going to Chicago (hey OHare is considered Chicago), they were pretty good at figuring out the clues. They needed some convincing that it was "real".

Another great idea! Thank you, Lizzybee! :Pinkbounc

We did this for my inlaws in 2004. My DH and I were going with our son and two married daughters and their family's. We knew his parents would never go unless we sent them. DH is one of 7 so we said we would pay for hotel (Swan) and share our silver meal plan with them :cheer2: :cheer2: if everyone else would pay for flight and park tickets. We all gathered and each family gave them a gift. First was a T shirt. MM for dad and Tink for mom. then they opened a fanny pack and water bottle. Then sunscreen and sun glasses. Then a book on Disney World. Then Park and airline tickets. They were so suprised, and they just loved the trip. :grouphug:

Ohh! This is great! :mickeyjum

My parents gave us a trip one Christmas. My father went to his local travel agent and asked for an old Disney promotional poster. Then he had pictures of each of us copied. Put our faces over the faces in the poster, put the dates of our trip at the bottom, and wrapped the poster. It took a few minutes for us to get it, but when we did . . . wow!

If you all get together for Easter, have an Easter egg hunt. Put various Mickey/Disney trinkets or disney dollars in the eggs and one park pass. When the egg with the park pass is open, then announce that since the child can't go alone, you will ALL go.

That is such a cool idea, Bonnie! :cool1:

Wehn you meet together. I would give them all cards you know. Have them all open it at the same time and the card would say "Get your shorts and pants together because we are going to WDW.

or

when you meet together talk together and say "Oh yea by the way i booked a 6 day 7 night trip to Disneyworld for everyone." Make it sound like its no big deal

GOOD LUCK! :thumbsup2

I like that idea, WDWfan36! ;)

:wave2: Hello!
Anyone else have any ideas of how to announce the surprise??

when you all are together ask them if they are busy the week you are going and say i hope not because we are all going to disney that week.

I surprised our kids with a 4 day cruise on the Wonder. We went in March. The preceding Christmas they each had an ID holder in their stocking with a picture of the Wonder and the dates we were sailing on it. They loved it. You could do something similar at Easter or an anniversary or the 4th of July or any date between now and then that is special for your family.

I agree. My gut reaction was a scavenger hunt. But not too easy. One that may take days or even a week or two. Maybe by using email, notes around the house, maybe even in their home. As they find the different pieces and put it together, it will reveal where they are going. Not only do they have to search for letters, but make it a little work, but fun work.

Maybe even by using phrases.

You guys are so goofy. :goofy:
Don't you feel like you need a minnie vacation? ::MinnieMo
A picture of a duck. :donald:
Did you see that? Oh, pooh! pooh:
