Pets when away

When we had Ted, my parents generally watched him for us when we went away. There were a couple of times when my parents had out of town guests staying with them at the same time we were going to be away, and then my friend and my neighbor watched him between the 2 of them...he would sleep at my neighbor's house and my friend would go over during the day to let him out.

My dogs stay at home and the neighbor comes by three or four times a day to feed/play with/walk them. We pay him about $20 a day, but he secretly enjoys caring for the dogs, sicne he is a big dog lover but his wife won't let them get a dog.

My parents are our first go to. Second is one set of friends who lives nearby, and the third is a different set of friends who live nearby.

We've dogsat for friends a few times as well. I'd suggest checking around with local friends to see if anyone is willing to take your baby in for a week.

It is much hard to control pets when we were not at home. I mostly let my dog free to look after home in my absence. But he always danged precious metal pieces and i have to bear a big loss. Have any solution of this Problem?

Put your precious metal pieces away.

Exercise your dog before you leave, so that he sleeps when you're gone.

Close interior doors and install gates to keep him confined to one dog-safe area of the home.

We used to board them, but honestly, I think they prefer to stay home.

We have a 15 year old neighbor who is always looking for extra $$. She is very responsible and her mother and father often come with her to the house anyway.

They come over twice a day, let the dogs out, feed and water them, get the mail, and give our dogs some love and affection.

So far, it has worked out very well. The dogs seem happy and well cared for when we return.

She only charges $10/day but I typically give her a bonus/tip on top of that.

We travel a lot. I have tried everything.

We used a Kennel for a Golden retriever and a Bunny. That was fine but I never got the feeling that the dog was exercised.

Then we got a dog sitter...poor bunny was no longer with us by that point. The dog sitter was AWESOME. She would come in twice a day once before she went to work and once after. She played and walked the dog. She truely cared about him.

We moved and our next door neighbors LOVE pets. We now have a Basset Hound. We haul his crate over there and he has a vacation with their family.

The dog sitter was the most expensive of those options and it sounds like your neighbor will be able to do the same thing. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

when we go away we leave our beagle with his dog trainers they actually run a dog daycare everyday and do both 12 hour and 24 hour daycare. They have been a lifesaver especially since Riley has some anxiety with other dogs. He goes to daycare once a week to socialize and to work with the trainers on his anxiety which has been awesome for him and then he stays with them when we go away. We know that he would prefer to be home with us but when we get him back he is very happy and obviously well treated with professionals who don't enforce any bad behaviors, which is critical since he is still young and learning!!! His only issue is that he does not like to go to the bathroom outside with the other dogs out there so they have to personally take him out but they don't mind. He also still sleeps in his kennel at home and stays there when we are away for longer periods of time just so that if he ever needs to be kenneled he won't have anxiety over that.

The things we do (and money we spend) for the cuties but it is so worth it when he cuddles up with me on the couch after a long day:cloud9:!!!!!
