Our chocolate lab was on
Clomicalm which I think is similar to prozac. Prince had severe separation anxiety. He was a rescue pup that was found abandoned in a dumpster. Not sure whether some memory of that caused the anxiety or what, but he was nuts. (He was also the sweetest dog I've ever met.) We could not leave him downstairs if we went upstairs. He'd freak, wouldn't even be able to find his way upstairs. He chewed through his crate (a metal crate), destroyed furniture, carpeting, you name it. He could not cope. One time we went on vacation and left him at a kennel (this was before we realized how bad off things had gotten). He paced back and forth until he wore out his pads on his paws. We shortened our trip, came home and got him. Soon after, we started the meds. It didn't completely cure him, but it calmed him down significantly. And it kept the destruction down to a bare minimum. Sadly, he got sick and died a year ago Valentine's Day.
