I can dream.....
Oh, I wish that there was a hotel at Disney for our doggies. I can't/won't put them into a kennel situation. We have 4 Chihuahuas. Deuce is our 14 lbs "moose" that has epilepsy. Beanie is our 6 lb baby with a bad heart, who is the main reason that we can't do the kennel thing. Perdita is 4 lbs and has a touch of ADHD. Cinderella is our 2 lb baby that is mostly drama free.
The reason why we have no desire to board them, after a 4 day boarding in a really nice PetsHotel room for the amazing sum of $565, they all came home tired.....for Beanie and Deuce, it was too tired. Deuce was having focal seizures for 3 days after we returned home. Beanie was passing out and having seizures more easily for about 5 days after we returned home. For Beanie, when she passes out it's due to lack of oxygenated blood flow to the brain, due to the poor function of her heart. When the pass out turns into seizure activity, it could trigger a heart attack. If that happens, she is dead.....no amount of doggie CPR will be able to save her.
So, we set out on a path to find a way to stay on property, not board the dogs, and still have some amount of pixie dust. The answer for us is to pay for an RV site at FW and rent an RV from a company in Orlando, CampUSA, that rents to pet owners and will bring out the unit do all the set up and then do all the breakdown and checkout time. We still get all the usual onsite perks and the doggies get to stay with us. We just have to make arrangements to tour the parks in a different manner than usual, but to know that Beanie and Deuce will be healthier at the end of the trip than they would have been in a kennel situation is worth all of the small sacrifices.
Disney makes roughly $50 a night, the RV company makes about $250/night. So, my question to Disney is, why not make some rooms at the Mods open to pet owners?!?! I would gladly pay an upcharge up to $50 a night on a king room at a moderate and be able to keep all of the babies with us. So, my question for Disney is, would you rather make $450 on our next trip or $2900? I know how much money I would rather be making if it was me. Maggie
