We have a small dog. Have you ever stayed at a DVC resort and used the WDW Kennels ? If so how did it work out and what are the costs.?

I'm not positive on this, but I don't think the WDW kennels keep the pets overnight.

You know your dog better than anybody on these boards If he likes to travel than by all means take him or her with you and board it at one of the kennels! My dog would travel to china and back with me in a car or plane, he just loves it! I do think though there are some better choices just outside the world that offer exersize for your pet because disney does not!

P.S I for one never ***/u/me/d that you were trying to take a small dog into a DVC resort, All you wanted was info! GEEEEEZE I wonder how these heated threads get started on these boards;)

Here's some information on the WDW kennels. They do have overnight accomodations. Only certified service animals are allowed in any room, including DVC rooms. (Some campsites at Ft. Wilderness permit animals.)

Boarding Your Animals

there is one kennel that keeps them over night, but you have to walk the dog three times during the day and feed them, as soon as i find which kennel i will post !

all the kennels at WDW will kept your pet overnight - for on site guest - it is $9 per night, for other guests it is $11 per night.

You know only have to walk your pet twice - I still do it more often - they will feed it (they use to charge for the food but they don't seem to anymore) - but I like to feed mind - then I can tell if he is eating or not -

I have a cat and YES - I take him for walks - one of the things he really like to explore new surrounding.

if you animals like to walk or is a big dog - then I would suggest either FW or Epcot - but have lots of room for the animal to run....

I didn't like Studios and I have heard that the AK is the same way - very little area to walk them - surrounding by cars and people....

the MK has one at the Ticket/Transportation Center - it would probably be fine for dogs - but the bus stop is next door and my cats get upset about the buses - you can walk around the place or across the street.

FW is also building a new bus stop closer to the kennel - so we might be at Epcot for our future trips....

too many people are still getting lost and late for their hoop-de reservations - so FW is trying to bring the bus stop closer - I hope this cause FW guest to complaint - because it will be further for them to go.....

if you don't want to walk your dog - but would be happy just to board them here is a list - most of these places close at 5:00pm (normal working hours) and Spicey really loves his night walk - so they won't work for me

WDW is at Lake Buena Vista - but Kissimmee and Orlando are close by.

Wkumad- please accept my apologizes for my post that I made regarding your question. It has been removed. Perhaps it is a sign that I have been on these boards too long or perhaps it is just me, or both. I have been posting on these boards for years back to near when they first started in 96 or 97. Over those years I have seen many questions on how to save money but also have seen many that cross the line into the area where instead of saving money they are trying to beat the system. Your question had absolutely nothing to do with either of these areas. I hope my response does not turn you off from asking any further questions on these boards. Sorry.

WE took our Pekingese with us once. We boarded her at the AK kennels. I would not take her again. Instead, I found a service that will stay in your home during your trip.

The AK kennel was flexible and would allow you to visit/walk your pet anytime. After hours, you had to call back to a guard and they would let you in. The biggest problem I had with the kennel was that there were no windows, and they shut most of the lights off at 6:00 pm when the staff left. The small lights they left on, did not shine into the other rows of kennels. As a result, I felt my dog was left in the dark from 6:00 pm until 7:00 am when someone came in. I contacted management multiple times, but nothing was done.

Sharon start using FW - they are smaller and the staff (in my opinion tries harder).

Now if there are a bunch of other dogs - and the majority of owners want the lights off - then sorry you still lose.

but FW really seems to try!!!

you also might ask about the cat room (if Spicey isn't there) sometimes they can put a small dog in the cat room and leave the lights on there.

(part of your problem might be the security guards and or cleaning crew - they have tendency to turn off lights....)
