I'm considering whether or not to make a point to ride Peter Pan's Flight in DL when we visit in June. Touring plans is saying we'll have a 20 minute wait going straight there on a 7am magic morning, which seems a little nuts to me. Is this accurate?

I think it might be accuate. We are going soon so I've been watching the app and the wait was 20 minutes until just before the park opens to the public. By that time the wait was about 40 minutes.

20 minutes or less is only if you're at the front of the mob heading for PP first thing.

You can make it park of your plan and rush to the line for PP, when you're there you can decide how you like the wait time.
If you bail on PP there will be other rides with shorter lines you can choose from.

It doesn't hurt to try...

Good Luck

Thanks for the info. We may just skip it then, as we can ride with minimal hassle at WDW. We love PPF and like to start at least one MK day per trip with that ride when we go to WDW. I was thinking of continuing the tradition, but maybe we'll just focus on experiencing attractions unique to DL during that time.

I'd rather go on Alice and Dumbo, do the rest of FL and start on TL, then grab a snack later and wait 30-40 minutes for PP than start the morning with a 20 minute wait for PP and having to wait longer for Alice and possibly Dumbo later.

That's the plan, minus the later 30-40 min wait for PP. Oh, and Dumbo. No need for Dumbo. But yes, we will probably start with Alice and see the rest of the FL dark rides instead, then head to TL. I'm really excited about the dark rides that we don't have access to at WDW, and love how many of them there are to be found throughout DLR. We'll likely just wait until next summer at WDW for PP. It will depend on how we feel and how much else we're able to get done.

It might sound weird but it's actually worth hitting PP at rope drop. Because a lot of the dark rides become walk on towards closing. PP has like an hour plus wait all day long, but that is not often the case for just about everything else. I can usually walk onto everything except Peter Pan and space mountain at least once per trip. And DL is so tiny in comparison to MK that you can often hit most of the adventureland or fantasyland rides as walk ons on the way out of the park.

20 minutes is accurate maybe a little longer even with EMH/MM. We try to make it the last ride of the evening.

I've personally witnessed it go to a 50 minute wait within minutes of rope drop. It was insane. We were near the front of the ropes and walked briskly to get there. When we stopped walking through the queue I turned around and looked and the queue was full and the line was stretching back towards the castle. It probably took us 15 minutes to get on, but we invested over an hour by time you add how early we got to the gates. This was July of 2015 so it had just reopened and it was the 60th Anniversary.

Ok. Here's my totally biased opinion. 20 minutes is GREAT...45 minutes is average...and I'd wait in either line. It's really such a sweet ride and if you haven't been on it before, try to make the time.

If we want to ride PP and aren't at the front of the line at rope drop, we'll wait till afternoon to ride it. The thing with PP is that its line typically grows immediately, but it will reach a certain level and really not go past it. Rides like Space, Star Tours, and Indy get to be longer than an hour, but PP doesn't usually get longer than 50. So we do the headliners in the morning when their lines are WAY shorter than PP's.

We did PP at rope drop during a Magic Morning and easily waited 20 minutes. We were near the front of rope drop (maybe three deep) and walked briskly directly to PP, two adults, no kids or stroller to manage and still had to wait probably closer to 25 minutes. It is a very cute ride. I am not sure it is worth the wait for us when, on a different day, we were able to ride almost all of FL, except PP, in the first 45 minutes.

During the fireworks the next evening, the line wasn't actually too bad (maybe 30 min) and those standing in line could see the fireworks.

If I saw a 20 minute wait at DL Peter Pan, I would jump on it. When we have gotten there at rope drop and been farther back in the crowd it has always been 30 minutes or more by the time we got there. That line stays long pretty consistently at DLR.

If you have access to the Magic Morning or going on a Non-Magic Morning day, you want to be at the entrance gates 30-45 minutes before the park opens.

If you have access to the MM and you are near the front of the entrance you want to briskly walk to Peter Pan.

On a Non-Magic Morning Day, once the gates you want to immediately head down Main Street and get as close to the rope as you can.
Once the park officially opens and the rope drops, you want to briskly walk through the castle and to the Peter Pan line of the right side.

If you want a less stressful morning on a Non-Magic Morning, get to the entrance 30 minutes before park opening.
When the gates open take your time down Main Street, perhaps take a few pictures with the characters at Town Square.
When the announcement starts for the park to officially open. head down Main Street. Skip Peter Pan, head down the path toward the Matterhorn (instead of going through the castle) and veer left, towards Alice in Wonderland.
Ride Alice first, then Dumbo, then Mr Toad, then Casey Jr., then Pinocchio, then Snow White, grab that Matterhorn FP that should be available in June.
Then ride Tea Cups, then Finding Nemo Submarines, grab FP for Space Mountain, use FP for Matterhorn, ride Autopia, Grab FP for Star Tours, use FP for Space Mountain, ride Astroblasters, Grab FP for Indiana Jones, ride Jungle Cruise, use FP for Star Tours... so on and so forth.

Anyways, basically save Peter Pan for when you have done everything else.
Use the official Disneyland App and when you see the wait time for Peter Pan at 30 minutes, get in line. (Usually during lunch, dinner, and parade times)

If you plan to close the park, get in line just before the park closes. You'll still have to wait but you won't be wasting time you could be doing other things.

This is a good idea if you can stay late.

This is my feeling. We'll ride Peter Pan sometime during our trip, but rarely at rope drop. We'll try sometimes but we won't wait longer than 10 minutes or so because you can literally ride the rest of Fantasyland in an 60-90 minutes because everything is pretty much a walk-on. It's generally so crazy because people have been told you HAVE to do Peter Pan first or else the wait will be too long. In reality so many people go there first that the wait is too long. We've found that it's much nicer to walk along the side of the castle near Matterhorn and head to Alice. Checking wait times lately and I've noticed that by midday Alice and Peter both had 40 minute waits. The wait for Peter Pan was often shorter a few hours after opening than right at opening.

What DLRExpert said. :)

We ride PP first every time. And here's the deal about what the app says -- the PP wait time sign (the physical sign at the attraction) says 20 or 30 minutes (can't remember which) at opening. Like the park is completely empty, we're the first ones in line, and walking up to PP they already have it listed at 20 or 30 minutes even when there's no one in line yet. It just starts that way. And generally speaking, that's completely accurate UNLESS you are one of the very first in line at rope drop. If you want to be on PP within 10 minutes, you MUST arrive at the entry gate EARLY. We usually find out what time security is opening and arrive about 5 minutes before that, then we're first in line at the entry and first in line at rope drop. Then walk very quickly to PP, staying towards the right. If you walk, even quickly, you won't be one of the first on because people run. But you can get on with a 10 minute or so wait. But if you're not right at the rope at rope drop, good luck.

So either way, you're waiting 30 minutes to an hour for PP. We wait at least 45 minutes because we're there so early, but we're waiting before opening time so we don't really care. We plan our day, have breakfast, put on sunscreen, all while we're sitting outside the gate. And one morning we got chosen as opening family as a result of being first at the gate, so that was cool. Only downside of that -- we had to wait longer for PP because being opening family actually slowed us down getting into the park!

As for doing it at DW instead -- isn't the DL version different?

It's a fast loader, but the vehicles have a low capacity.
On average it can fit 2 to 3 people, but when there are single riders it bogs down the line.

I cannot even imagine how Stand By will be once Fastpass comes.
