Pete Werner's Gay Days Column

First, Pete, thanks for this site. I've saved thousands over the years and made some new friends, some of whom I got to meet in person at WDW. If you were merely a visiting peon such as myself I'd applaud your posting of your opinion. As for myself, I'm a 55 year old raving hetrosexual who remembers when social ostracism was a very powerful force, wielded largely by the self-righteous against the unpopular and different, in at attempt to keep them in their place. I'm heartened by differences I note from the social scene in the 50's when I first became aware that there were people who differed from me and the present. One of the striking, and pleasant, things I note when visiting The World is the range of people I see as opposed to that found in the whitebread, redneck corner of PA where I live. My in-laws, who represent both of the above mentioned qualities in spades, (how's that for a mixed metaphor?) are visiting WDW this instant and have said precisely nothing of sapphic debauchery or other such flaming behavior in their daily cell phone reports. That doesn't mean no such thing ever takes place, but if such were in evidence to them, I'd have heard of it. Thanks, and I'll step off the soapbox now.

Well my DM went and didn't know nor did I. She said the conversations she heard while standing in lines was just atrocious. She said they where talking about who was sleeping with who and the language she heard. That it was just uncalled for straight or gay. I have nothing against anyone, and I am glad that Disney allows this celebration for them. But, it needs to still be an enjoyable enviroment for everyone.

The article which I just read is very well put and sounds to be exact to what takes place. I applaud it and wish I would have read it before she left so I could have gave her a heads up.

Strong work my friend!

I was a bit nervous at the onset of your editorial began, but by its conclusion I knew we were of the same mind! My girlfriend and I (together 4 years and planning to marry this fall…THANK YOU Massachusetts) were echoing your sentiments just this past weekend as we looked through Boston’s PRIDE PAGES/list of events. For those who don’t know June is when most major cities host some sort of gay pride parade. I’m a big fan of parades, but the debauchery MUST stop! This year’s pride guide was chocked full of advertisements for sex sites, each accompanied by countless numbers of men in jock straps. ENOUGH, I say!!!

I’m saddend to learn that Gay Days has become something similar.
