Pete Werner, we're not as rich as you !

I can't deny that I have occasionally listened to the show and thought, "Am I not the target audience for this?" when they were talking about things like suites and concierge rooms ("only" $200/night extra) and many-thousand-dollar ABD trips and costly hard-ticketed events and such, but never did I think they should stop talking about those things. It's their show!

I take it differently and they are letting me know what all of these options are so when I am able to make a smart purchase choice. $200 more on the room but you might be able to remove a couple meals with the extras they lay out for you and when you have a couple people or more it sounds like it might be cheaper.. I would have never known to do the homework like that without them talking about it.

ABD is a whole new world for me. I never gave it much thought, didn't know why it existed in the first place but now I'm seeing some things that catch my eye.. I would have never thought about looking at ABD for a behind the scenes look. if I didn't move, I would have done my first ABD to the WDW backstage trip this year.

Now the downside of this is staying at contemporary or poly for a holiday weekend is looking more and more possible. I'm 15 minutes away by car from these resorts yet here I am thinking about getting MK view rooms with club/concierge for a staycation...

anyone that thinks living closer is cheaper, do the math on how much some of this stuff would cost you :)

When Pete and John gave $10,000 to Give Kids the World at their Star Wars viewing party, or when he donated an ungodly amount of money to help my son reach his donation goal for the American Heart Association or when he gave a wad of cash to my staff who had served him but I refused to have the Team pay for dinner at my restaurant...he showed me, while he loves to share his success; he does so WITH ACTIONS as much as words.

Pump the brakes everyone :)

I am not arguing Petes right to earn a living or his benevolence

But not for nothing , if you are trying to review an event or room , etc , and you call it a "good value". I must say I call into question, ones concept of value when u have 3 cell phones

Just saying

I don't think whether I own 3 phones or 0 phones that the concept of value changes. If anything owning more helps get a better perspective on value. Owning those 3 phones shows which phone will give you the best value.

No one's sense of value will be equal. Value does not always equal cheap. Pete says "good value" meaning what he paid and what he got were of value to him. It may not be to you or anyone else but to him they are a good value. As Pete often says his opinion is just that his. You are allowed to feel differently and he won't fault any of us for that. Your meter for value is clearly different than his and that is okay but you can't ask Pete to change.

LOTS of folks have multiple cell phones and it has nothing to do with their net worth, but more about they need to keep businesses (many operate more than one business) and personal apart. I wouldn't think twice about it.

If I told you we are 5 and we own and operate:
- 5 computer towers (currently no more than storage)
- 3 desktop computers (towers, 2 high capacity)
- 7 laptops
- 9 monitors
- 2 full size iPads
- 2 iPad Minis
- 3 tablets
- 3 reader tablets (rarely use now)
- 4 large external hard drives
- 3 or 4 portable hard drives
- 1 Nighthawk internet router
And in process of purchasing another laptop & monitor plus all kinds of other electronics ......

It doesn't mean we are rich or rubbing it in anyone's face, it's what we all need, use and operate for our work at home, on the road and personal use ............. most of what you listed sound like they are relevant to his business ... even his shirts since he is on camera. So no nothing you mentioned bothers me at all.

Firstly, value is different to cost.
Second, if you listened to what Pete actually said about the 3 phones, it was said that he has an iPhone, an android and a windows phone to ensure things work on all platforms, namely, the boards, WDW info... To ensure we all get the best experience.

And as everyone said, ones opinion of value is completely different to that of someone else.
@disneysteve stays offsite because that's a better value to him, but for me, I'm from overseas, I don't hire a car, I don't want to hire a car, so the value to stay on site, and deluxe, is a value to me, it saves me time and effort of driving on the opposite side of the road in a city I don't know.

Perhaps it's not our brakes that need pumping?

It is actually smart business practice for Pete to be able to check his websites on his own. It allows him to put forth the best product he can thus making himself more money and us happy. I for one have never thought Pete was flaunting his money or anything. Even when he said full price after hours was a value it made us go from maybe to heck yes. We were only maybe because it was new not over cost. Too bad they didn't extend it or we would have gotten tickets for that.

I will slightly agree that when one says "I just booked a room at the Poly for the night" so matter-of-factly, it does sting my soul that people can just drop 300-400 for a hotel room on a whim.
But that's just me. If you have the money to do such things, go for it.

Also, in regards to his tech, most people have numerous phones/tablets/computers/gaming consoles/cameras/etc. these days.
He doesn't have kids to put through college, so he can indulge.

Now, if he starts rocking a giant platinum, diamond encrusted pendant that says THE DIS on his neck like a rapper, THAT would be flaunting his money in my face :D

Did you listen to what Pete said? He said he has 3 phones so he can make sure content looks good and is formatted correctly on all three platforms. So by doing a fantastic job at his life's work, he's "flaunting his money" or doesn't understand the value of money?

Pete hasn't always had money. He built a company from the bottom up. Your original post and this follow-up both reek of jealousy.

Just saying.

Hold up everyone, now I'm confused, isn't building up a business and becoming successful something to be applauded.

Also didn't he give his room away to one of his Staff members, who had never stayed in a room like that before?

hmm, think It would be a below absolute Zero day in hell before my work did anything like that for me.

I know why don't we flip it, instead of getting visit from the green eyed monster, how about we use it as an aspiration.

Watch out Poly, Concierge, Theme Park Room, here I come!!! It may take me a while but when I do get there, I will write a post about it on here..... So watch out for major jealousy pangs around summer of 2025 lol :rotfl2:

I don't normally listen to the pod cast but I think people need to think about what many people are giving up for what they have.

Yes I'm sure Pete does take expensive vacations and have alot of tech toys. However since he runs a website (thus needing technical skills and equipment) and podcast about taking vacations that is kind of necessary for his job.

If your looking for resources on planning a budget vacation and to know what items on the lower end of the price spectrum are great values Pete has provided a place for that. The budget boards do a great job at providing that service.

It's apparent that you see the cost of things and not the value and thats a shame.

I feel sorry that you live that way. Price doesn't always equate to value. I think you'd be happier if you could see that.

It's always easy for someone to hide behind the anonymity of a screen name and lob snarky comments at someone that puts themselves out there.

I think it's cowardly...but hey...it's just my opinion and as others have pointed out, we're all entitled to ours.

You seem to be listening quite closely to the things Pete says, buys, wears etc.

If you are following that closely, you have also heard him say...if you don't like what you are hearing ...turn us off. Go somewhere else. Listen to another Podcast.

If you want to call into question my concept of what value might be...go for it.

I question whats going on in your life that you feel the need to post things like this.

Again...if Pete's "things" make you feel bad....turn us off.
