Pete needs to go Fly a Fish already

Yeah my Ohana ADR is early too. What day are you doing it?

1. Sunday - Captain's Grille (I'm probably gonna ditch and hit Flying Fish. Sit at the bar like Corey said).
2. Monday - Ohana
3. Tuesday - Skipper's Canteen for lunch. Sanaa for dinner.
4. Wed. - Jiko
5. Thursday - Be Our Guest for lunch. Narcoossee's for dinner.
6. Friday - Kona for breakfast. Cape May Cafe for dinner.
Ours is Sunday! Hoop Dee doo on Monday for our last dinner at WDW :(

We went to Flying Fish tonight and it was amazing. It was the best signature meal I have ever had at WDW and we have been to almost all of them. The service was great and everything from the bread to the extensive wine menu, wagyu beef and dessert were all very very good. We cant wait to come back next year.

I'm going to make my way to Flying Fish this quick trip for the Peanut Butter Freeze...it look/sounded amazing can anyone refute/debunk this?

I really enjoy the extensive reviews and in-depth reports we get from the DIS Team! :dogdance:
Other sites have reviews too, but over time they tend to get a bit outdated, as if "The site already has a review of this place, no need to update"... :rolleyes2

I know that the DIS Team are on top of what goes on as much as they can, continuously and I love that! :worship:

Unfortunately I have far between my visits to WDW and a lot is happening in between the times that I get to go. I am trying to soak up everything that I can in preparation for the next trip, and before I have steered away from (in this example) The Flying Fish because I had read one too many so-and-so reviews. I even stayed at The Boardwalk once and still didn't go to the restaurant. So I am more than happy to get a full in depth review after the complete overhaul of the place, it has even got me to reconsider my ADR's for my next trip. :thumbsup2

:tinker:

All I know is that the coverage made me hungry and try like hell to find a way to get down there to try the "meat butter". My mouth was watering the whole time, except for maybe the octopus, but when Kathy said she liked it, I said it might be worth a try. Great coverage everyone! I never look a gift horse in the mouth. Thanks for all you do!

Well this thread's been interesting... :)

I have to say I don't understand the OPs issue with the piece. The gang's in depth dining reviews are one of the best features of the show and though this may have had a little more coverage than normal, the FF went through a full overhaul so it wasn't over the top IMO.

I must admit though, at one point I thought that maybe Pete and the various types of 'butter' should get a room... ;)

You've never been? Aww man... we gotta get you there.
Yeah it is a crime. My parents went without me 2 years ago. Such a hard life. I am a Disneyland girl who has been trying to get to EPCOT since I was 4. My goal is to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday with Disney World's 50 Birthday, so 5 years to go!!!!

Near the end of the review Corey mentioned that you get the full menu at the bar. I probably wouldn't need a reservation if I want to sit at the bar, right?

I wouldn't think so?

Sitting at the bar isn't a thing in Australia. And most restaurants don't even have a bar per se. So sitting there while waiting for your table also isn't a thing.
It's my favorite part about dining in the USA!!!!

Nah, wouldn't think so, since you wouldn't need one if you were just having a drink, so them having food available is for your convenience.

They don't have bars. They have hotels. See, I've learned something.
Haha nah, we have bars. Hotels are generally out in the country. But then, a hotel is still a hotel here too, like, you'd still stay in a hotel in Melbourne, but out in ballarat, you'd go to the pub which may or may not be called a hotel (and may or may not have rooms to rent)

But at restaurants, they serve alcohol, but don't often have a bar you can go to and star around at, much less eat a full meal at.
But yes, you've learned a lot. Let's see if you can keep up with my talking in 3 days time!

Hey Jes,

Maybe this would be something your fellow Australians would also enjoy. Ever thought of becoming a restaurateur? You might be on to something here! :-)

hmm, the hotel in Ballarat you describe sounds a lot like what we would call a Tavern

A lot of restaurants in the US have bars - often for people to have a drink and chat before sitting down to eat. Big thing for business meals to have one or two drinks first before sitting down to eat (even if the table is ready we often tell them to hold it while we have a few drinks at the bar first)

God no!! I enjoy my evenings and weekends, and holidays! Lol.
It's not exactly that lucrative here I don't think
