Pete is obviously not a photographer

And you need a bunch of memory when you have this many cameras:

Sure hope you have a mighty strong belt to hold up them pants...:rolleyes1

I just recently got a Nikon D3000 for Christmas and have not been able to use it to it's fullest. My only qualm is that it does not shoot video which is where my point and shoot comes in. I'm not at the frequency of photography that others are but I take about 300+ photos depending on how long the trip is. I would have a field day with animal kingdom and epcot. I'll post some pictures later of my photos with my point and shoot from my 11/2009 trip. Hopefully, I'll be down there in September/October and be able to use my new camera there.

I was talking to Jason and I stand corrected on the amount of photos I take per trip. I was told that I take about 700 photos. Not nearly enough to fill up an 8 GB. I carry a 2 GB and am happy with that. I do not plan on bringing my laptop to empty my card so I'll probably get another card just in case.

As promised, here is the link to some of my photos around Disney from my last trip in Nov. 2009. I tried to pick cool looking ones.

I encourage and feedback.

Rough quote from the DISBoard show: "Unless you are crazy you'll never fill up an 8 GB memory card on your trip."

Obviously Pete should spend more time on the Photography board, where plenty of us would develop a nervous tick if we only had one 8 GB card with us! Many of us will fill up multiple 8 GB cards on a trip. I can take around 2,000 photos with the size and number of memory cards I have, and will probably be increasing that to at least 2,500 or 3,000 by the end of the year.

Memory is cheap, memories are priceless. Carry lots of cards, take lots of photos. :thumbsup2

That was exactly what I was thinking! I usually take 4G cards and end up running out of space. I like retaking photos that I had taken my first trip, but trying to look at them in a different way. Pete and the gang are always talking about how the experience changes once you're able to go to WDW often and I have found that to be very true - and I want to capture that new point of view in any way that I can.

Thanks guys!

I have been looking into laptop locks for whilst we are on holiday. The main issues is that my exam results come out a few days before we leave Florida and I need an internet connection to get them!

Do they have internet at Pop? How much is it per day? Do you still get it free at DVC resorts?

Thanks everyone!

Hi Kate, just FYI DVC is still free wired internet connection.

If you can do without the laptop all the time and only want to check the internet once or twice you can use the Yacht Club conference centre (if you go to the 'front' of the Yacht Club where the buses/cars go it's between there and the Beach Club - turn right out the Yacht Club or left out the Beach Club). We found it was nice and quiet and reasonably priced.

Good luck with your results :goodvibes it's so cool you can check them online, I had to get someone from Brighton to forward them to my Mum's house then as I was in America I had to call home!

Thanks everyone for your earlier replies - looks like we're taking the laptop now anyway :cool1: so no need for me to panic

Thank you so much for that info!

Because we would only be staying at DVC for 3 nights, I didn't want to carry it around for 3 days worth.

Can you remember the cost of the conference centre? Because I quite like being 'disconnected' for 2 weeks, if I take my laptop it will be too tempting to check in. So we can just go in once or twice to pick up my and my boyfriends results, hopefully it will just add to the joy of the holiday! (Not that I am too confident of that right now!)

Are there many computers in the conference centres?

I have taken my laptop on every one of our trips this century but I have yet to take the laptop out of the backpack to check my email....

Later,
Dan

I don't take a laptop to WDW. It's too much to carry with all my camera gear. That's why I bring a silly amount of memory cards. I have my phone if I need to tweet, txt or DIS.

Hi Kate, I'll check with Gav to see if he can remember, if not I'll have a seach later on. There were about 4 or 5 PC's from what I remember and only one other person in there. There may also be facilities at the Contemporary as they have conference rooms, but I'm not sure about this - are you doing BLT? If so this would be really easy for you - it's also fun to see the other bits (we saw them as there were some Mousefest things at the conference centres). Also the Dolphin?

I'm sure you will both get good results, you seemed very studious to me :goodvibes but even if they aren't as good as you'd hoped at least you have stuck it out and finished the course. I didn't get all the way to a degree (I did and HND in applied biology) and I've got a good job as chemical analyst (not sure how I got from biology to chemistry but I enjoy what I do )

We will be at Pop for a week, then moving to Beach Club Villas for 3 nights, so Yacht club or Dolphin computers would be perfect! However I am happy to pop to the Contemporary ether!

:lmao:Haha! :rotfl: I am meant to be writing my dissertation now, but can't seem to keep myself motivated and the Dis is a far better distraction! My results thus far have been fine, but I don't deal well with stress, and this year is only going to get worse.

Anyway... I should get my nose back to the grindstone!

I, too, generally go through multiple 8 GB cards per trip; I actually typically use more than one 8 GB card per day. Last trip I came back with around 40 GB worth of pictures (which I've since pruned down to 10 GB). At the end of each night, I unload the card(s) to my laptop, which in turn backs up to an external hard drive, and the hard drive goes in the safe before we leave the room the next morning. Sure, I would be upset if the laptop were stolen, but it's the content of the computer that would be devastating to lose. As long as I'm protecting that, I'm content.
