Pete and Walter RCCL Review Spectacular!!!

I'm finding this a very interesting discussion. :sail:

Pete posted a picture on his FB page of the inside atrium area of the RCL ship. When I looked at it, it didn't say "ship" to me, it said "concrete jungle". (Yes, I know they didn't use concrete - work with me here.) Still, I can see spending some time wandering around that area of the ship once I lose my money in the casino. :) I just really appreciate the effort Disney has gone to so that their ships feel like ships. Apparently RCL is searching for the market of people who are worried about being cooped up on a ship.

Right now Val & I are pretty much in a DCL mode (3 this year) but I've cruised on Carnival, RCL, NCL and Princess as well. I understand the appeal of them and am very tempted to cruise on one of them again. Especially as their price is usually lower than DCL for the same itinerary. In fact, we're planning an Alaska cruise next year and it will most likely be on Princess rather than DCL.

Not sure what you mean by having a ship feel like a ship, or feeling like being cooped up on a ship. If you mean that DCL looks like the old steam-liners, then yes you will be disappointed with RCL. I haven't been on any of the older, smaller RCL ships but I suspect some may feel cooped up on those.

My post was mentioned on the show last week. Some of my comparisons about RCL and Disney are there. I have no preference between the two - both have pros and cons:

Just stepped off the Dream on Thursday and re-booked while on board. That said, we are weighing a repeat 4 nights on the Dream next Spring Break vs 7 nights on RCL's Navigator of the Seas. I would love to hear the Podcast Crew layout all the pros and cons of RCL vs DCL. Thanks!

Pete and Walter got off the Oasis today and John and I will be boarding the Allure tomorrow.

I imagine you will hear a report when we get back.

Kevin - Bon Voyage and I'm looking forward to hearing all of the details! Have a wonderful cruise!
