Pet photos and chat

I  German Shepards! Beautiful dogs. We had one when I was a teenager, what a great guy he was.

Here is Dash, he is a JRT and is almost 4 years old. This was taken right after we came home from Disney in February, sadly the toy did not last as long as I had hoped.

I almost bought that in March for our dog but didn't for some reason. Did Dash chew through it? Our dog goes through a large rawhide bone in less than a day. I keep trying to figure out what I can give him to chew on that will last.

Yep, chewed right through it! I had such high hopes, thinking it was actually a harder material than it was. My DD also bought one for her springer spaniel and that one lasted a bit longer, probably 2 months. So far, the only toy he hasn't been able to chew through is a KONG, so I will keep buying them. Maybe someday they will make a Mickey shaped one.

I bought my dog one of those at Disney, too. I don't think she ever touched it. I noticed it in our "dog bin" the other day, still looks brand new. She's strange like that. Her favorite thing (ie obsession) is soccer balls. I buy them at thrift stores and yard sales, she goes through so many of them. She also loves her indestructible ball, pictured in the OP - she zooms it around the yard all by herself, pushing it with her nose and legs. That thing was purchased in the early 90s and is still going strong, has survived 3 dogs playing with it.

An indestructible ball? Where do you find one of those? Dash would forever be in your debt! He loves to play with them, actually goes a little bonkers when he sees them but always ends up popping them.

I got mine at RC Steele, which I think is no longer in business.

A quick check around, though, and it looks like PetSmart and other companies sell them. Good news is that it looks like they now also come in different sizes and colors. :thumbsup2 You should definitely get one for Dash!

Here's a link with reviews, and video: http://reviews.petsmart.com/4830/2751746/reviews.htm LOL, that's just how my dog runs around with it, too.

BTW, I have a JRT "nephew", will see if I can find a pic to post.

Peeking out the doorway...

I don't have dogs of my own, so I claim my parents' two Beagles Imola and Minardi as my dogs (since I generally end up doggsitting for several weeks a year, I just claim I timeshare on them.) Here are a couple of recent photos:

Imola is the one looking at the camera, Minardi is the one lying down.

Watching the world go by (or more likely watching every move the squirrel down in the yard makes.) Not the best photo, but I like it.

Finally, one from the dog park, showing them in their standard nose-to-the-ground position. You'd be surprised how fast they can run with their noses an inch off the ground...

I finally gave Dudley a bath and trimmed him up a bit so now I'm ready to post both Hunter & Dudley:

Waaaah! These faces! I couldn't wait to get to the computer so that I could check this thread :rotfl:.

This is Constanze the night daddy came home from Iraq, I think she was saying he wasn't leaving again without her.

JM, this is so precious! Look at that determined look on her little face and how hard she's pressed herself into the bag. You're right, she's not letting daddy go ANYWHERE :).
Bubblegum is gorgeous too, is he a boxer? Such a lovely brindle coat.

And this is our beloved Mozart who we just put down last Saturday after almost 14 years. That is one of his fluff toys that he basically sucked on like a pacifier, we still have the original one we had purchased before bringing him home at 6 weeks old.

Oh I'm so sorry about Mozart! Look at that sweet little guy. And what an adorable picture, he looks like he's in complete dog Nirvana with his pillow and his pacifier.
My Amber likes to suck on her stuffed toys, too. I've never met another dog that does that.

Our dog goes through a large rawhide bone in less than a day. I keep trying to figure out what I can give him to chew on that will last.

So far, the only toy he hasn't been able to chew through is a KONG, so I will keep buying them. Maybe someday they will make a Mickey shaped one.

Another vote for Kong. Amber loves them (but my 1st Rottie Smidgen did not, go figure?). I put a treat inside like a smear of cream cheese or a carrot stick and Amber will work on it all day. She also likes those gummy nylabones but I don't know of any other dog that does :rotfl:. Amber will eventually pop the Kongs but they'll last for about a year before she does.

We have something called a Jolly Ball. It looks like a dodgeball with a handle on it. It's really a horse toy. But it stays inflated, even after it's punctured which is a Godsend at out house (see above re: rottweiler that pops Kongs :rotfl:). Ours is going on 5 years and multiple puncture wounds now...
