Pet photos and chat

Here is our original baby - Bambi with our cat Blackie when she was still a baby.

These next two were the year that she passed away.

My DH was devasted that we had to have her put down. But she was so sick and had gotten quite old. We do have her ashes and her favorite toy.

My best friend lost her baby the week before our dance recital last year. We dedicated the program to him and I had a ad in the program in memory of Bambi.

Here's Missy! She's a 10 year old border collie/black lab mix.

I can never resist sharing photos of my Tara. First one is from my first college graduation in 1994...she was 11 weeks old and we'd had her 3 days:

She's a little peanut and manages to get into some very tiny spaces:

And just sitting and contemplating the world:

She's just beautiful  As are all of these precious babies.

I've never had a pet as long as I've had my Petey. I see him starting to show signs of middle age lately...he's slowing down a LOT and he's got a bit of a limp at times :guilty: Our walks are shorter, especially is warmer weather and he lets most squirrels off with a warning these days.

I know it's still several years off but I'll be a blubbering mess when his time to cross the bridge comes. I can only hope I'm strong enough to see my baby boy safely to the other side as so many of you have. I don't know how you do it.

I have to encourage you to spend that last moment with your baby. It was the most peaceful and serene passing. I'm so glad I stayed with her. She knew I was there and that it was okay to go on. She was almost 16 years old. She had a great life and was a wonderful friend.

She was a beautiful dog. I'm so sorry you have to miss her so much, it shows what a wonderful pet she was! :sad1:

Thank you

These photos are all adorable! Casey is heartbreaking...what a sweet, dignified face.
[/IMG]

thanks, she was quiet a lovely lady, and sweet ::yes:: that is a word that describes her

Ugh. I know what you mean. Bandit is getting white around the face and limps sometimes. He still wants to fetch like a puppy, but we have to stop him or else he'll end up limping. I just can't imagine life without him. :hug:To ALL of those who have had their pets pass on.:sad1:

Ours started showing signs around age 12. Little did I know we'd have 4 more years together. Had known that I think I might have taken her to the beach more often. She loved to run on the shore, and frankly what's the value of a life lived playing it safe??? Enjoy your time together

This is Constanze the night daddy came home from Iraq, I think she was saying he wasn't leaving again without her.

And this is our beloved Mozart who we just put down last Saturday after almost 14 years. That is one of his fluff toys that he basically sucked on like a pacifier, we still have the original one we had purchased before bringing him home at 6 weeks old.

This thread makes me realize how much I hate cats:

Whoa OUCH! I love both of my pets so I'm posting both of them, equally precious to us

That picture of Constanze is sweet, and I'm very sorry for the loss of Mozart, I know how much that hurts.

They're awesome. You'll find the behaviors are much like your Sheltie's (herders), just in a bigger package.

I love those smart herders! My dd just taught our puppy to jump through a hula hoop-it took about 10 minutes! I've always loved German Shep's...used to babysit a family with one (named Justice) and kept him by me when I heard scary noises at night (just my teenage imagination after watching a scary movie).:rotfl2:

This makes me miss my Teddy...and to feel the pain of all of you who have lost your babies. :(

1.5 years since Ted's been gone and thinking of that day can still make me cry.

Smooch all the puppies for me! They are all great...and the kitties aren't bad either. ;)

nevermind...cannot get the pic to come through..

ok - got it over there now...lol

Here are a couple of pictures of Zelda. The top one is from last summer and the bottom is as a puppy. She'll be 2 in September. She's been sick this week but is hopefully on the mend... if I can keep DH from feeding her cashews and other stuff she shouldn't have.

This comment makes me realize how much I hate ignorance. :rolleyes1

Why is it ignorant to say you hate cats? I wouldn't be upset if someone said they hate dogs. Some people prefer dogs, some cats, some birds, etc.

For the record, I hate cats ;) and I'm highly allergic to them.
