The family just returned on June 1st from a wonderful long weekend at BWV. It was a wonderful visit with the exception of members or renters who decide to take the lazy route when their trash is full. They think they are staying in a hotel and just leave their trash out in the corridor instead of taking a few steps to the trash area.

This wasn't just one unit, it was several on the second floor. It just drives me crazy to see peoples trash out in the corridor and drives me even crazier believe that people are that lazy and make cast members to take their trash to the trash room.

People this is a timeshare not a hotel, discard your own trash properly.

here, here! Just do it! How can you even think about just leaving trash right outside your door - that's just plain disgusting, along with lazy!!

because those w/o the Dis to ream them about doing, are told by mousekeeping to do that when you call to ask what to do with your trash. That's exactly what we did when we called to ask where the trash room was and mousekeeping wouldn't tell us, they said to just leave it outside our door and they'd take care of it. No where upon check in does the front desk tell you about trash or where you can dispose of it.

After being berated on the Dis about it, I made DH go wander around and find the trash room for this trip..he was not happy about that at all. DD went with him to help and said it was the most disgusting room she'd ever seen so I'm guessing that's the reason mousekeeping won't tell people where it is. It's not very Disney-like!

Last October the trash/recycling room was right across the hall from our room. Very convenient and spotlessly clean.

I have no idea where the trash room was, trash is DH's job but I don't doubt DD that it was full of trash and smelly. If it was empty I'm sure it wouldn't have been so smelly.

We never called or looked for a trash room. We take the trash each time we went out and droped it in the buckets on the out side of the resorts.

At 1st we just kept it in the room, tied up until we realized there was a big trash bin at the bottom of the stairs. Not sure if this was proper but I would NEVER leave it in the hall, corridor or anywhere else that was not a trash bin!

We usually just take our trash to the trash room. If people do want to leave theirs in the hall, they should put it out early AM. The Mousekeepers leave between 3:00 and 4:00, and once they have cleaned your area, the trash will probably sit in the hall until the following day.

I was surprised at how clean the trash room was at BLT. Spotless.

This is what they told us. Put it out in the early AM for collection. Leaving it out at night esp in the condo style villas will just attract bugs/animals.

FWIW, this trip I only saw 1 or 2 bags of trash outside any rooms for the entire 12night stay (none in AKV just at SSR). Either mousekeeping was on the ball or else everyone (including us ) had figured out the trash room thing.

We also take our trash bags to the trash room. We do a lot of cooking in the villa, so the garbage can get smelly and I don't want to leave that outside the door, even if Mousekeeping asks me to do so. The trash room at AKV wasn't bad at all and was near the elevator, so it was convenient to drop there.

Is it possible they didn't know there was a trash area? I haven't stayed DVC yet (I just bought first stay in Oct. and was actually wondering about this. So if the trash is full there is somehwere I can take it?

That is good we are planning to have my dad make breakfast one day for everyone (everyone loves my dad's breakfasts and now that we don't live at home we don't get them anymore!) but I could see the FL heat making it smell before too long.

We stayed on the second floor with a boardwalk view this past April. The trash room was very easy to find and clean. The ice machine was behind an unlabeled door and much harder to find.

Each OKW building has a trash/recycling room on the first floor, under one of the stairwells. As each building may have multible stairways, you may need to look for it under each stairway.

I do not understand why DVC can't put this info on a flyer in the villas, say on the kitchen counter. It could be laminated and left for each guest, instructing them where they are located and to please not place it in the hallways.

You would think something so simply could easily be done.

DH and I had an early flight and were surprised at the trash, trays from in room dining and even an electric scooter in the hallway, could be a hazard if there was a fire in the building.
