Pet Peeves

Matching families. I always feel SOOOO sorry for the fathers. You know the men don't want to be matching what their wife and 2 year old daughter is wearing......."Oh, great, the same shirt as my wife.........kill me now".

This always makes me laugh. You can tell when the wearer is into it or had it thrust upon them by a family member and is quietly miserable. Also common on some sullen teens!

Kids swinging or hanging on ropes and chains in line.

People who have to catch up to their party. Everyone should get in line or the others should move to the back of the line with those that entered late.
This happened at TSM, the large party, many members of the family could not decide before who was going to ride. They were blocking the entrance. Well some finally went in, but then Grandpa, Uncle, and another kid got in line when we were already in the building and were know trying to catch up to the rest of the family. I was this close to saying..."really why dont you all go back with them so you can be together" but I held my tongue. The family redeemed themselves when we got to Mr Potato Head and Grandpa turned around and offered to take a pic of 4 of us instead of me. Fuzzxy pic but it was still nice to offer. But I still dont understand not getting in line together

I really, really don't like getting run over by parents with strollers (kids in them or not) while trying to exit the park. We are ALL going to the same place--OUT---so please quit trying to run me over when we are all packed in like sardines anyway!

I've never had anyone with an ECV try to run me down...just the strollers and when you turn around they smirk so you know it's intentional.

Some people do not do it intentionally...I know when I am pushing my daughter in her stroller, people tend to jump in front of me and expect me to stop Believe me, I do try but am not always successful. And then they turn around and give me a dirty look

I never seem to think about things that happen while I'm at WDW....it's after I get home and I remember this or that.....

My biggest peeve is simply "rude" people......the person that is yelling at a CM (or child for that matter) and uses the famous phrase..."I paid a lot of money to be here...yadda, yadda, yadda"....) - well, we all did...get over it

The people that think their group has the right of way on the whole street and can't be bothered to move out of the way of on coming traffic...

The people who are looking at the park map while walking and then suddenly stop in front of you..... - dude...move to the side so others can get by without bumping into you...

(I'm a smoker, please don't flame me on this one)...I try to limit my smoking while in the parks...I understand it really bothers non smokers and I am ALWAYS aware of that...but when i feel the need, I head to the nearest smoking section and stay there until I'm done.....you get some people that go into that area and decide to sit down...then complain about the smoke....wave their arms and do the fake cough....all while giving you dirty looks....

And lastly, we are all going to the same show.....it's a half hour before it starts...there is NO need to run fast and knock me down....

Parents who don't pay attention to their children, even if they are pushing. Or if they are pouring their soda on my shoe. Yes that happened.
Teach your kids how to act and if they do something wrong correct them, don't make excuses for them!!

I have seen this situation a lot too... but I have seen a fair share of parents who are either not paying attention or who think the stroller is a battering ram. Though, I have never been hit with a stroller, I have witnessed it.

One was a situation where I could just NOT understand the parent's thought process. They allowed their young child (had to be about 6 give or take based off of size) to push their other child's stroller through the World Showcase during Food and Wine. It was busy! It was hard to WALK through some of the areas (especially if there were multiple booths set up close to the entrances to WS attractions like in Mexico). Yet they were allowing their child, who could barely see OVER the stroller, push it. With no help from mom and dad because they were too busy eating. I think the kid hit about 3 people before dad finally took over.

Another was right after Wishes where a lady was using the stroller to make space to try and push through the crowds. Right after Wishes. When Main Street is literally shoulder to shoulder and there is no meaning to the words personal space. She would try and wedge the stroller between people and then push her way through. Then she got mad because the crowds were too tight so she rode right on the heels of the people in front of her. Needless to say, they had to stop suddenly and got hit by the stroller. What did the parent do? Sigh and roll her eyes.

I agree with this one as well. I have actually flat out told someone that if the smoke bothered them, then they should get out of the smoking area. Disney put the areas there and smokers have the right to use them. I wanted to tell them to get over themselves and that they looked like idiots doing that when they were the ones to sit their butts down beside the ashtray.

Mine is the HM line (next to Leota's magic Open Eyes tombstone) before you step foot inside when the CM tells everyone fifty times to fill in all available space. So when my family does, everyone else who's still standing around with their mouths open thinks we just "cut in line" and starts with the nasty comments. Don't panic- we'll all be herded in through the DOUBLE doors (built for a mob to fit through) toward the Stretching Room where we'll still be in a guess what- MOB!

And once in there, the same groups with their feathers ruffled are talking through the opening narration! Yes, I know it's been the same for 40 years but I want to hear it again!

Remember your second grade teacher?? Listen and follow directions!

Although, once the door to the Doom Buggies opens, it's every chick for herself

My peeve---People who allow their kids to wrestle, sword fight, hang on queue ropes, etc. in crowded areas. We shouldn't have to dodge unruly kids with swords. Take that energy away from the crowds.

Overall, I try not to let things bother me, but rude behavior in general is annoying at WDW as well as anywhere else.

My Biggest Pet Peeve can be found any where but seems to be an every day thing at WDW!! When kids walk around table service establishments after their family has been seated, just about knocking over waiters/waitresses, all because mom or dad is too tired to correct them!! And when kids stand on chairs or booths at any establishement and play with my hair, or scream all through dinner. I realize the kids are tired and hungry and reservations cant always be at a reasonable time, so try to give them a break during the day if youre eating late.

That is my pet peeve...I choose to smoke and I'm where I am suppose to be. Besides most of the sections are not shaded. And then there are the smokers who bring their kids and strollers with them and ask ME to watch where I smoke! (of course these are the ones who do not use the ashtrays and toss lit butts on the ground!)

pet peeves as a cast member:
-when I am clearly holding something extremely heavy and moving fast to set it down before i drop it and a guest walks up and says "can I see your pins?"
-when I have a giant line and am helping a guest and people come up asking to look at pins and get mad at me when I ask them to wait until I am finished with the first guest

Oh..I also feel like my personal space is invaded when people grab at my pin lanyeard and it in the same way ends up with them touching my chest. Also when I am ringing up someone and I have grown adults slowly walking by staring at my chest (my pins) and don't even ASK to see them. I feel violated even though that isn't what they intend for it to be..

In the parks:

I'm guilty of staring in order to avoid the first two. I usually have a specific pin set I'm trading for (right now it's Zodiac signs!), so I will glance for one before asking to see a lanyard, especially if it's a CM with another guest. If I see the elusive Aries Pluto pin I've been looking for for days, I will wait patiently until you are done. If I don't, I won't bother you.

Dads who always use the word "buddy" with their kids. "So buddy, do you want an ice cream?" "Hey, there buddy." "How is my little buddy doing?" "Are you my buddy? Are you?"

I have to disagree with that. In this case the intent is more of a term of endearment, not a definition of a total relationship. I call my Grandsons "buddy" and it is just to let them know that I like them. It doesn't in anyway signify a relinquishing of my status. Same with Fathers. You can be a friend and a parent as long as the friend status does not cloud one to be a parent when necessary.

I firmly believe that this is the case in 99% of the alleged stroller run downs. I have been to WDW many, many times and have never once been run into by a stroller. I think it is because I am aware of my surroundings. I also do not feel that it is everyone elses responsibility to insure that I don't get injured. If I step in front of a moving stroller assuming that they #1, see me or #2, are able to stop if they do, well I should be apologizing to them for causing the situation. In this lawsuit happy society it is very unrealistic to think that people will intentionally, with evil in their eyes, take the risk of causing harm to someone else. Just not accepting that! Accidents happen and usually there are two or more people involved. Pay attention, allow space and the chances are you will come out unscathed.

He said something like "its like having a peeing section in a swimming pool" And I lost it!! I told him this is where the smoking section was and at least they were following the rules, and if he wanted to he could move to a table next to the Dole stand (in the Sun) He didnt say a word after that and seemed to appreciate that there were designated areas. I am going with my sister next month and Cant wait!! And noone better complain when she is following the rules!!

I try to be courteous of others when entering / exiting buildings by holding the doors for the people behind me. It is amazing how many people won't take the door from you to allow their party through, but expect you to keep holding it while a virtual train of people go through. If someone holds the door so it doesn't slam shut in your face, take the door, and allow that person to continue with their own party.

I know alot of people have complaints about being run over by ECVs or strollers, but we've been on the opposite side too many times to count........

I think this just happens to everyone. People not watching where they are going is definately a pet peeve of mine. I'll be walking along in a crowded area and see someone coming right at me. But they will be talking to someone, texting, whatever....I'll stop and they will just walk smack into me. I usually have a youngster by the hand and on busy days, I don't always have the space to move so I'll just stop to avoid hitting them. It's very frustrating when people don't watch what they are doing.

My Father In Law is Guilty of this I appologize!! We sat down for a Dole Whip in the shaded smoking area lol, and he kept making comments (I dont smoke but My Mom and Sister do) It made Me mad!! He said something like "its like having a peeing section in a swimming pool" And I lost it!! Thank you....I will admit, that is one area that is set up badly....I've seen a number of people smoking on the end where there aren't any ashtrays, and I can understand why it bothers people...and since that is a popular area because of the Dole Whips a lot of people gather there

Honestly one of my pet peeves (plz no flames), I hate it when a child behind me continues to hit me or touch me, etc. When my children were little I made sure that if they bumped into someone, etc. I told them to be careful & apologized then moved them so it wouldn't happen again.
