Does it drive anyone else crazy when you're talking to someone and they'll say something like "oh yea I seen that one" instead of "I saw it/I've seen it"?

So many people I know do this, even people who I went to school with from elementary though high school, we had the same education :rotfl:.

Yes, drives me crazy!

Yes...it annoys the CRAP out of me. Of course, it's sort of my life's work to teach people how to speak. :lmao:

I went for a haircut today, my hairdresser is older, the one next to her is younger, she "eated" a good lunch today. :lmao:

I am usually not bothered by grammatical mistakes (verbal or written), however this is one of the few that bothers me to no end.

Ha! I had to get my husband out of this! It drove me crazy!

My Dd and I were talking about this today on the way home from school!! It drives BOTH of us crazy!!

I have a niece who is supposed to graduate in a few days but will not because she has taken the language part of the Graduation Test FIVE times and still can not pass it. She will take it the 6th time this week and then go to summer school if she fails again. From the way she speaks in person and the way she writes on facebook...I know why she can't pass the language test and the subject of this post is just a portion of the way she speaks.

That is really sad.

And yes, "I seen" drives me bonkers!

It not only drives me crazy but I am astounded by how many eyewitnesses to whatever event the news is reporting on use it.

It's almost like TV reporters go out of their way to find the dumbest sounding people they can and put them on camera.

Seen does bother me. I read that one a lot more than I hear people say it though. The one that I hear all the time is MINES. My students always say mines and it drives me crazy. I have some some kids trained now that will correct them for me because they've heard me correct them all year. They really do listen :thumbsup2

While am a pretty bad speller gramatical
errors dive me crazy and this one is especially bad.

Drives me INSANE:eek: I get that some ppl. really just don't understand correct grammar, but for those who do and still choose to use it incorrectly...why? I just don't get it, why would someone want to sound uneducated?

How about than instead of then:
We went to TSM than we went to RnR. You went ot TSM then you went to RnR.

Or

I need your advise. No you don't, you want my advice.

When I hear someone say "I saw this or that", I can't help thinking that the person isn't very smart.

Here's one that still gets me:

I always correct my students when they say things like this. One day a student said, "I seen ____", and I quietly said, "No, you SAW ____." Just as politely he responded, "No, M'am, I was using past tense. I SEEN _____." I was unable to convince him he was dead wrong, even with the use of a grammar book.

I would rather hear "I seen" than someone using "myself" instead of "me" or "I."

"Myself and DH went to WDW for a long weekend."

"Here is a picture of my kids and myself."

For some reason, this is like nails on a chalkboard to me. :headache:
