Pet loop ok? Not taking dog now

Any disadvantages to being in the pet loop if we don't take our dog? We are in 300. Another party who had to take dog dropped out and my DFiL isn't coming now and is willing to stay home with our dog. We will miss her but she will probably be happier at home with him (where she always miraculously puts on a few pounds lol). Just didn't know if I should try to switch to a different preferred loop.

The biggest issue I think is that you want to make sure you tell them when you check in that you don't need a pet loop. First it saves you $5 a day, but it may also get you in a different loop (saving a pet site for someone else). You may still end up in the pet loop, and really it's not an issue except to say that others will also likely have pets and pets can always create some issues (barking, dog piles, etc..) particularly of other pet owners are responsible pet owners. (That's a whole other thread!)

If you are okay with it, Fort Wilderness is okay with it.

Ok thanks. I honestly didn't even think about holding up a spot for a pet owner. I'll call and see what they say.

I'd ask for 100 or 200. I love my dog and other dogs. But, if I didn't have her with us we would be in a non pet loop.

Don't worry about holding up a spot for another pet owner. As many (in other threads) have noted, if the Fort needs more space for "Pets" they will put them in other loops too. All loops have a potential for being a "Pet Loop" (Well except for maybe the cabins), it's just it seems the prefer to keep pets in a smaller sub-set of loops.

We are currently reserved with a "Pet" even though we probably won't be bringing him (112# Yellow Lab) but the DW is concerned that if something happened and we had to bring him along that we could be accommodated. When we get there, if we don't have our dog, it's an easy thing. If we still get stuck in the "Typical" Pet loop, that's okay for us, but if they wanted to move us to another loop we'd be okay with that too.
