I am in the process of putting together a thread for this board to be stuck to the top. It will have the ins and outs of pet friendly lodging in WDW/Universal area.

I've been researching this board as well as the net. I am looking for any personal recommendations you'd like to see in a thread like this. Is there a place you had an excellent exp. with-- or some place that was just really awful.

Both local kennels (like WDW) and hotels. I don't want links-- I want real exp. if anyone would like to share. I may even merge some of the posts into the sticky thread. Thanks to anyone that would like to share!!!!! :)

Excellent idea!!!! I'm stressing now trying to find the right accommodations since we'll be bringing Bo this time around... can't wait to see this resource!

I don't have any personal experience but I do know that Embassy suites Lake Buena Vista is a pet friendly hotel. they have suite rooms. I talked to a woman who had her little dog with her and kept it in a crate during the time she was out of the room.
I have stayed at the resort quite a few times and have never heard dogs barking or yelping. Whether the rooms are soundproofed or the dogs were well trained I can't tell you.
I am sure you can call them to talk to them about what info you need to know. Peggie

I would love to know any experiences renting Pet Friendly Villas. We are trying to rent one for May. I know where to look for these villas, I just would love to hear any experiences.

Celebration World Resort - timeshares In Kissimmee - GREAT love it - people go out of their way to try and help you.

LaQuinta Inns - now the one I stayed in Kissimmee changed to a Best Western and doesn't allow pets now. but I have also stayed in one in Atlanta. Loved it. that say, I have heard that the one closes to WDW has thin walls...

Spicey has also stayed in FW, TTC, EPcot and Studios kennels. I can definitely recommend FW. TTC would be great for dogs...It is too close to the bus stop for cats. on our walks everytime a bus would go by Spicey would jump - this is a main bus stop - so he didn't like his walks here....

I looked at this one
http://www.basspetmotel.com/index.htm

but it closes at 5pm - and Spicey really enjoys a night walk. It is over close to the SUper Walmart in Kissimmee (not the new one off of 535) but the older one on US 192.

the other hotels we stayed in (before joining DVC) were torn down and completely replaced long ago....

Spicey has been going to WDW since 1986 when he was 3 months old....

in those days only a few hotels would allow pets. No brand names. so these were Mom and Pop type places.

I will try and remember if we stayed in any others pet friendly hotels that are still around. of course since my recommendation would be so old - I don't know if you would even want it....

oh how could I forget.

we stayed in Universal's Royal Pacific - and LOVED IT!!!! if I was rich we would never stay any place else. Spicey was treated like the king he is....

It was great fun. He had never been in a 4 star hotel before. So he was a little nervous (lots to see and smell of...) - but shortly he was walking around like he owned the place....Mother and he both loved it!!! So I was in heaven. It as great!!! We will definitely be back!!!

I have through of going to Sheraton Safaris or the Embassy - we stayed in one in Destin and Spicey only liked...I was hoping he would love it.

do you want me to write a review of CWR? I have pictures, too. do you want them?

Here you go for Wednesday, February 22/2006...

....aahhhh..it was here - but now it's gone...Thursday's clue has been posted:)

Good luck! and looking forward to recieving your pm's!!

Great idea! Thanks for putting this together! :worship:

We have stayed at Fort Wilderness many times and put our dog in the kennel there. Since she is getting older, this is just too hard on her - and especially hard on us! We stayed at the Comfort Inn LBV and The Embassy Suites LBV, both pet friendly. These were for last minute, short trips and we only went to Epcot. We would leave her in the Epcot kennel and have them walk her several times and we would check on her once during the day. This was easier for her as she got to come back to the hotel with us. I had heard that Epcot no longer offers the pet walking service. The following is a report I posted on this board regarding our stay at the Embassy Suites - I copied and pasted it below. Hope this helps.

From our November 2005 trip:
My dh and I just got back from the Embassy Suites LBV. We booked it the day before we went there and were traveling with our dog, short notice. Normally we stay on-site but since this was short notice, we did not have a petsitter and had to take our dog with us to a pet friendly hotel. A few months ago we did the same thing with our dog but stayed at the Comfort Inn just a few buildings away. We liked the Embassy Suites much better. It had a bedroom/tv, small kitchen/bar, with fridge, microwave, table, and had a separate living room with a sofa/bed and its own tv. The breakfast was pretty good, not the greatest, but very sufficient - bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, french toast or pancakes, chocolate and white milk, coffee, juices, soft drinks, bagels, toast, english muffins, cereals, fruit, and donuts all from the buffet - which is what we did. You could also get made to order eggs, and pancakes. There was lots of seating. The managers reception had beer, wine, mixed drinks, sodas, pretzels and/or popcorn - no other food offerings. The Embassy Suites also has a Pizza Hut Express and Starbucks in the lobby, which we did not use but could come in handy. (The Comfort Inn did not have any of the above.) The Embassy Suites is also a member of the Hilton Honors group, and they sent 2 bottles of water with a nice note to our room. This hotel is right off of I-4, and you could not be any closer in your room to the interstate! When we first checked in I did not think the noise from the highway was noticeable but at night when trying to get to sleep - oh boy! It was extremely noisy with horns, all kinds of motor sounds, sirens, etc. I always travel with earplugs and a white noise machine and it is a good thing because I would have not gotten any sleep without them. I think there are some rooms that don't back directly to I-4, so you may want to request one of those rooms. Also, the hotel is in a great location close to Disney but traffic in the area is VERY VERY heavy. The hotel and room were clean and everyone seemed nice enough. We did not have any problems so really did not have many interactions with the staff. We like staying on-site at WDW better and being part of the Disney magic 24/7, plus I think the deals are better at the value resorts. But have no complaints and would definitely stay here again with our pet. Hope this is helpful to you.

All the Unniversal On-stire hotels (portofino, hard rock, and South pacific) are pet friendly.

I want to thank everyone for contributing. I will be putting this together over the next week. I think this info in a sticky thread will be useful to many diser's. Anyone else that wants to continue to contribute please feel free.

Thanks so much, great idea! :thumbsup2 We're also in the process of trying to pull together a trip end of April and are bringing our little yorkie. Right now we're holding ressies at Portofino Bay and Sheraton Studio City, going on starwood points (have been to neither). We're also considering Sheraton World instead of Sheraton Studio City, so if anyone has gone there, please let me know, love their property but has terrible reviews on tripadvisor.com in their standard "outdoor" rooms, with cleanliness issues (the other rooms are in a tower but require more points). Anyway we've stayed at Hard Rock which was absolutely fabulous!!, Royal Pacific which also wonderful!, and Sheraton Safari which we got on points and for free, and being starwood members they upgraded us to a suite with a living area, fridge, microwave, have fabulous comforable beds, and a nice slide very nice, also close to Disney. Looking forward to reading this site! :sunny:

When you stayed at the Hard Rock, what did you do with your Yorkie during the day?

stayed at Royal Pacific - but same outfit.

they had a sign not to leave your pets unattended - but gave you a pager that could reach the parks so you could leave your pet.... very strange....

US/IOA has kennels - but they are on the other side of the park - not near the hotels.

What I remember we did was first we put her in Universal kennel for the first day or two, but then we left her in the room, (this was 3 yrs back). You know I think we them our cellphone # or maybe there was a pager, can't remember (geez getting old, hehe), although they had no problem with us leaving her. Our dog is good, she's not a barker and doesn't chew and is very housetrained. My husband seemed more worried about her in the hotel thinking a maid would let her out of the room, etc., but we had no problems. HRH is a close walk to the parks. When we went to Disney, we didn't leave her at the HRH, we boarded her at their kennels at the parks, again after a few hours going back and walking her, we make sure we do spend quite a bit of time with her, we only typically do a park for half the day or a little over half then we're too pooped and go relax at our hotel! :)

I've been extensively searching for pool homes that would accomodate my dog Bojangles... I've finally booked with the following Villa- It had everything we wanted, location, fenced in yard, pool, hot tub...I dealt directly with the owner & so far it's been a breeze...

www.thinkofaplace.com/floridavacationhomes

While I haven't stayed at any of these homes... here are some links to pet friendly houses that responded to my inquiries.. I sent out about 20 or so & received about a 40% response rate... Most seemed very welcoming of pets!

I did receive some Condo/Townhouse responses (I deleted those before I thought of sharing)... I have a barker so a house was a must for us!

Spiceycat-- I would love a more detailed review and photo's. I am going to "stick" this thread to the top. I am going to leave it open for more people to post for now. I will be cleaning up the the threads that don't contain specific info and reviews though. I'd like to try and keep it an informative thread. (with personal reviews of course!!).

Thanks to everyone again for contributing.

I have started (it's still a work in progress) the pet friendly thread. It can be found at the top. I'm going to continue to add to the hotel list. As well as add reviews- and photo's if you have them. So- keep the info coming- I still have more to pull from this thread already-- but all info is great. :thumbsup2
