I would also like to add to my I am thankful list:
The smile that comes over me when I know I have connected with someone not only in the "disney" way but in the "human" way.
Tara- I've always wondered if your triplets spent time in a nicu, as most multiples do. I appreciate the thanks, I love my job and couldn't imagine doing anything else. Just wish sometimes I could sprinkle pixie dust over all my "little peanuts" and get them home quicker!

Happy to see so many caring people on these boards......I have a very high opinion and lots of time for people who are in the critical public services - hospitals/fire service/police/army etc....Without these people we would all be in serious trouble



For the people who posted with sarcasm or poison pen intent, they have shown their true colours and need to go to "charm" school (as my dearly departed Grandmother would say)

Rule 1 of reading and posting on message boards. Learn to ignore things.

Perspective is EVERYTHING. The OP is right. My perspective is NOT to worry about a LOT of stuff I see on boards and to enjoy my life. Your glass is half full or half empty. You probably won't get your truce, but if you stay around for a while you learn what posts and or posters just to ignore. (There are some topics I never even open! LOL!)

There are a lot of things in life much more imporatant than anything posted on any of these boards. Your family, friends and loved ones are just the tip of your iceburg.

If there is any person who would say that they don't have moments of down time in whatever profession they are in, they are a liar.

I had a boss once that would take break at work and play a computer game called Mah Jong. We have a very stressful job. He called these breaks "dynamic inactivity", and encouraged everyone to take breaks and engage in moments of "dynamic inactivity".

Those that have posted critical of your posting at work should be ashamed of themselves.

Of course, I add my appreciation for all those medical folks who give of their time, care and love to keep patients alive.

As stated reading, posting, and surviving on Internet forums depends entirely on perspective and letting none of get under your skin.

If you do, then you have made the "trivial" important. Therefore you become as guilty as they are.

Sometimes when only some information is given, many take it in different ways.

If the OP had stated while at work on her break time she is reading the forums, I sincerely doubt anyone would have thought there was anything wrong with that. However when you post you are at work in a neonatal unit and surfing the web, then that leads to alot of misunderstanding. So I would not give those that reacted a hard time. They reacted to the statement as they read it, not to the actual situation which they were unaware of.

Really just take it all with a "grain of salt' to do otherwise is to lose perspective of what is important.

Forgive me for not stating I was on a break, unfortunately when trying to do many things in a short amount of time (especially at 4 in the morning) I don't elaborate much on my posts, I'll have to watch that from now on obviously LOL!

Somehow, I just assumed, utilizing common sense, that there was not an infant in need of immediate attention at the time the posting occurred.

My nine year old was born 12 weeks premature, weighed 2 pounds, and spent 9 weeks at U of M NICU. She has CP and is in a wheel chair, that's her in my signature.

My wife and I spent the better part of that nine weeks in the NICU, with our daughter, and got to know many of the nurses personally. We still keep in contact with them regularly. They are an incredible group of people.

I did notice that they got breaks, as they should. What they do to escape for a few minutes here and there is of no concern to me.

A nurse should be allowed to do anything during a break that they want to if allowed by the institution the nurse works at. I bet that nurses do less surfing the net while at work than a lot of other professions. C'mon. The OP was just trying to tell us to lighten up and really look at what is important in life and what we should really be thankful for. Heck, in the whole scheme of things in the world, we all should be thankful we can even afford to purchase DVC and visit WDW like we do not do the my resort is better than your resort bashing that is always around here.

I sit around an feel sorry for myself that my DS has kyphosis and scoliosis and then I get hit right smack dab in the face when I take care of a little child who is dying from cancer! I am thankful then that DS is healthy and happy and not dying!!!

First I must preface this with saying I also work for a large multi facility health care organization and I see first hand and experience on a daily basis the dedication and hard work these professions demand.
However, it really did sound like the OP was saying while she/he was actively working, not on break, he/she was surfing the web. I also have to add that there are times when unfortuanately especially during slow times during the wee hours of the late night/early am that employees working the clinical care positions in our organization have been found to be using the internet for personal use while they are actively working. I am not trying to sound holier than thou or point fingers, I am just saying it is not unheard of for this to happen in any profession including with the medical personnel that work the direct patient care units/depts in a hospital.
If this was a misunderstanding on my part concerning you, I am sorry and please accept my apologies.

We also are thankful for so many things in our lives. Can you imagine that so many of us are lucky enough to visit our DVC homes so often. 15 years ago it was not even a thought. We have had many friends and relatives go with us on Vacation, but one of the best times are the ones we have had with our now 90 year old Aunt. She has been with us 3 times and she is such a joy and sooooo grateful and happy that she is able to go-----that is what makes life GREAT!!! Her eyes light up soooo many times while we are there. She now holds our hands while walking so she doesn't fall----she is great. These moments are priceless and we have Disney and the Lord above to thank.
