A little background: We currently own 76 points at BWV, which were direct purchased as an add-on. Originally we had a base 210 points, but sold those about 15 years ago. The 76 have served us well over the years by getting APS every 3 years or so and banking/borrowing. And we have "blue card benefits" as we are grandfathered in. Last May we spent a week at Vero Beach and really fell in love with the resort. We see ourselves as becoming more beach oriented and less WDW oriented (and quite frankly Disney is pushing us this way with recent changes). We're in process now of closing on 65 points bought resale which would allow us 5 nights in a 1-bd room every other year during the time we'd typically travel (May or September). But now we're considering purchasing maybe another 100 or so more points that would allow us a 2 Bedroom, every year or even a beach cottage every other year. But if I did so, we would likely sell off the BWV points as I don't want dues to get out of hand. (And VB are higher) I recognize I'd give up the blue card benefits if I did that. We're thinking we would do WDW a lot less frequently, but would still have the option. We're fine with whatever resort we could get at a 7 month window. Those are the things I"ve considered so far - just wanted to put this out there and see if others might have perspectivess - Pros or Cons I might not have considered. Would I be better off keeping the BWV and just using those points at VB? (which I know would only be 7 month) Add on a smaller amount at VB? I know there are trade-offs no matter which way I go - just trying to see if I've thought of them all.
Thanks!
