I really need to collect all of your recipes. I've got a couple of them, but now I'm regretting that I didn't copy/paste all of them. Not doing my diet any good, but yoza you sure can cook. You really should put together a recipe book.

I just started watching the Next Food Network Star - I think you should think about trying out next season. You have a fantastic personality, great humor and from all the food porn pics can cook up a storm. You'd totally kick some foodies butts.

What's funny is she had those plates for a few months before getting a letter from the DOT. Someone had complained that her plate was offensive and they took them back.

no, totally intentional. She paid extra for the personalized plates. The DOT didn't catch the joke until someone complained.

I have to check out your banana bread recipe too. I've been making the same one from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook for years!

I'd never seen anyone do a personalized license plate backwards like that before. Then this morning on my way to work, I saw a Mini Cooper with a reverse plate. It took me a bit to figure it out because I was behind him and not looking at it in a mirror.

Banana Bread Ala Dawn

1/2 cup of salted butter (let it sit to get room temp)
1 cup of sugar
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups of All Purpose Flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups of very ripe bananas - mashed
1/2 cup of sour cream (not the light crap that tastes like glue)
1 tsp vanilla (Watkins or preferably Mexican Vanilla - not the stuff from your local grocery store in the baking isle that is 1/100000 weakness of extract - the key is good vanilla in any baking. Treyner was just my guinea pig the other day - I had ran out of Mexican Vanilla and had bought the horse cr@p store stuff in a pinch. Then 2 days later was able to get to a store that had my usual. He said there was no difference.

I smacked him upside the head, then asked him to close his eyes and gave him the cheap stuff first to smell. He said it smelled like the vanilla candles. Then I had him smell actual vanilla - it almost knocked him over. He said it was too strong.

Duh!

I explained that you are not supposed to eat candles, you are supposed to eat food and thus - the strong stuff has the actual ingredient you want, not perfumed cr@p that is not much more than scented water. End of lesson. )

1/2 cup of pecans - coarsely chopped (IMO when you puree your nuts - it just gets lost in the batter and you lose the flavor of the nut)

CREAM butter sugar and eggs together once butter is at room temp. SIFT the dry ingredients together (sifting will make sure the powdered ingredients get mixed thoroughly and allow more light bread) - Then add to butter mixture and blend well, till mixture is combined.

*Never blend more than needed in most recipes or again - you ruin the batter and you will end up with a brick rather than bread.**

Stir in pecans by hand if using a blender previously - again as to not over-stir the bread.

Bake at 350 degrees for one hour on middle rack or till knife comes out clean in the center.

So I went back and read your past reports, and I started cracking up when you mentioned making a stop in Bloomington-Normal. I live in Normal, but my parents live in Bloomington. That outlet "mall" is horrible where you stopped. I didn't even realize there was anything out there anymore. Lets just say I don't frequent that area of town very often. How crazy that a cake place didn't have cakes!

I so want to go to the Keys now after reading your trip report. My kids actually prefer beach vacations over anything. We're supposed to be going to Clearwater Beach in August. However, we shall see with this oil spill.

It is so sad and I feel so bad for the families affected daily by it.
