Does anyone know what agency I would contact if I am thinking about getting new license plates? Can you do it after you already have the car? Does it cost a fortune?

Any guess of what theme I want on the plates?

In New York State you can do get personalized plates on the department of motor vehicles web site.

I would suggest doing a search for the DMV for Texas. Good luck.

Go to the County Tax Assessor/Collector :) Wait a minute - don't we pay enough already in Texas??? ;)

There is generally an inital charge for the plates and then a yearly charge to maintain and keep that plate...hope you get one they are neat..:D

BTW, you can definitely get new ones if it's not a new car and mine cost $35.

In VA, we go to the DMV and it's only an extra $10 per year.
