Personal/Family webpages

Anybody have a personal or family webpage that other family member can post to??? DH's family is somewhat close knit (they at least get along) but they are spread out all over the country. Has anybody set up a website (or whatever you call it) so that family members can post what is going on with them and even post pics so everybody can keep up with each other???


How do you go about doing something like that???

I apologize if this is a stupid question but I am on somewhat computer savy

Sounds like you need a BBS or forum. For this you'll need a database (preferably MySQL) and most likely PHP support. There are quite a few free BBS software packages available including YaBB and PHPBB as well as multiple offshoot packages that include portals, such as Dragonfly and Minerva.

I have a group at www.groups.msn.com. We can share pictures, chat, post on a forum, share files, etc. HTH!

If you don't want or have time to set up a whole website, you might consider your own message board. I set up a message board for my family to communicate and we do daily. It has a feature to make it private by requiring a username and password to post so it doesn't get hit by trolls. Pictures can be posted on it, too. I have had this particular one for over a year and it's always up and running...and it's a free board, too. I use runboard.com but there are a lot of other free boards to choose from.

My family has one. . .as we are pretty well spread out nowadays. It is great. We can post comments, add photos, etc.

My fiance will be creating our own, for our upcoming wedding info- and we are going to link the two!
