If you make a request at your 11 month window, Do you feel that it is necessary to still fax the room controller a couple of days prior to your arrival?

We have never done this. Just didn't think it necessary. We have never made specific building or room requests, though, just areas and non-smoking.

I sometimes fax when I want to list alternatives. Like on our last OKW trip I had requested buildings 23 to 26, 2nd floor (non smoking was first priority). I sent a fax saying a first floor would be OK if second was not available, but we did not want handicapped. I also said if those buildings were not available, then we wanted a golf view elsewhere. We got building 28, second floor (view of fairway). When we stayed at BWV earlier this month, I had just requested non-smoking, near tennis courts. I wasn't really concerned about floor or anything, so I didn't bother sending a fax. We got a corner room facing the pond, it was just what I wanted.

Once I've made a specific request upon making the reservation I leave it to them. Almost always, we've received the request.

Our experience at BWV--we usually reserve about 10 to 11 months out (usually closer to 10); we always request non-smoking, boardwalk view (no other requests) at time of making ressie. We never follow up on the request. We have always gotten what we requested.

My personal opinion is that this does not make a bit of difference, but it makes some people feel better about their requests.

In any office that I've worked in, the faxes that don't have the specific names of the recipients on them usually just sit there.
