Perks for Referrals

As a new DVC member, what are the perks for referring people who join DVC? We have two families who are interested in joining after we talked to them about it.

Just curious to see what DVC may offer...

Here's the current perk, only allowed in certain states,

A member is allowed 5 referrals a calendar year.
1st referral= $200.
2nd referral=$350.
3rd referral=$500.
4th referral=$750.
5th referral= 1,000.

NOT CASH.....rewards can be taken in D.D., toward an add on, toward your mtc fee, to a Disney charity.

(Beware members willing to "split" the reward with a newbie for the referral )

There is also another current promotion. You will receive a $50 disney gift card when your referral does a tour either on the telephone or on site.

That all depends upon your state of residence, many states have laws that prohibit DVC from giving their residents referral rewards.

Thank you for the information. I'll do some research and see what the limitations are in my home state.

Are the states that are excluded posted anywhere? I've looked on the DVC member website and can't find it. Was it in the member handbook somewhere? I know at one time my state (WA) didn't allow a referral bonus, but would like to verify if that's still the case.

Where can the information be found about the eligible states?

I have mine from a mailer from DVC. I couldn't find any information on the member website

So, let's say someone goes on a tour or calls up a guide. If they don't use a member's name right away, then is that member NOT eligible for a referral perk because she/he was not listed during the "information gathering" segment of the process?

If a name is added afterwards because the buyer would like to get the current incentive, the buyer gets the discount , but does the member get any perk? Or is it too late by that stage?

I live in CA and just found out that I am not eligible for any perks , but I'd like to know the rules just the same. Thanks for any clarification!
