I'd love to get an unusal perfume while I'm there next week. Any recommendations in a particular country?

I prefer lighter stuff, nothing to heavy or musky.

You MUST check out Norway. They have a fragrance called Laila that is fantastic. I bought a bottle for my wife for Christmas (on-line) and love the smell. It is actually for me in a way too, as it takes me back to the World every time she wears it and I smell it. (OK, sometimes I just sneak a whiff from the bottle, too.) Seriously, very light, flowery, airy. If you go, and if you like it, get alot of samplers, if nothing else.

I second the Norwegian perfume-- I put some on every time I walk through that store! It is very light and delicate.

There are also some nice body sprays in the UK soap shop-- flowery and herby. I always spend lots of time in there just smelling them all!

PS.
Only follow my advise if you do NOT live in the woods of NW PA. I want my DW to be the only one around with that scent.

Oh! I second the perfume Laila in Norway! I absolutely love it, and it's light and delicate - not heavy or cloying at all.

My husband LOVES it

Laila is wonderful! I have a bottle too and like someone mention it reminds me of Disney when I wear it. I happened to visit when the fellow (forgot his name) who created it was there and got a signed bottle. I should've gotten two bottles because I don't want to empty the signed bottle. I'll have to pick up another next time.

I agree. Laila is wonderful. The only other place it's sold in North America is Nordstrom dept. store.

I'm also a huge fan of Laila - hubby bought it for me for our anniversary, and I LOVE it!

Thanks guys! I will definitely check it out. How much are the bottles? Are there different sizes?

(Can you tell I already have a list of stuff I want to buy?)

I know you've already received a few postings on this one, but Laila from Norway is absolutely wonderful. Very light but also noticeable because it is unique. it's been a few years since my last trip to WDW and I've run out of Laila but I still remember how good it smells and how wearing it always brings back memories of Epcot. I'm a Mary Kay consultant and very loyal to our fragrances but because Laila is so different, it's only non-MK product I use. I think there's also a body lotion and some other products. Buy 2 bottles, it is worth it!

In Italy there is my favorite Aqua de Parma. there are varying scents, but I love the original and also the blue fragrances. They are light, fresh and very different. They are in the Italy store on a table together. Not all the blue bottles smell the same so take a whiff of them all.

Another one here for Laila. It is the only fragrance my wife will wear now. Also, if you run out of it, they sell it at Nordstroms or Lord & Taylor (one of those, I can't remember). And if you want one for your husband, they have a cologne called Geir (named after the creator) made by the same person.

Actually, a quick story with that. When my DW and I were there a few years back we were in the Norway pavilion (my DW is Swedish, so she likes to go and talk to the CMs in Norweigin/Swedish) and their was Geir setting up his fragrances. It was the first year he was putting out his men's cologne (Geir) and he hadn't come out with Laila yet. We spoke with him for a long time and he ended up giving us a bottle of the cologne. He was really excited about his product and was a really nice guy. Apparently, that year his fragrance was included in the "goody bags" given to the presenters at the Oscars.

I have heard he comes back to Epcot at least once a year, but we have yet to meet him again. If anyone happens to see him, say hi from us. ;)

We just got back the other day and let me say that Laila smells amazing!! Each time we passed through Norway, I had to walk in and spray some on. LOL

Now I am kicking myself that I am home and didn't purchase a bottle. Good Luck.

I've seen Geir Ness in the Norway pavilion the last 3 years in a row around the first week in December......the signed sampler bottles given away are usually leftovers from the Emmys. I ran into him this year and he gave me a hand massage with Laila body lotion :) :lovestruc :teeth: I love Laila perfume!!

Geir was there when we went over Thanksgiving. My wife bought another bottle as it is one of her favorite. He autographed the bottle for her and they talked for quite a while. I think he said that the perfume was named after his Mother. I feel the same way as an earlier poster that every time I smell it it reminds me of WDW and Epcot.

I recently bought DW Guerlain's Cherry Blossom perfume in La Signature in France. It is a bit pricey, but the aroma is heavenly. Like you, she doesn't like heavy perfumes, and she absolutely loves it. We were told that you can't get this anywhere but in France and at WDW.

I seem to be the lone dissenter here, but I really don't like the Norway perfume. Perhaps it's the fact that SO much of it is sprayed in that room that it is nearly makes me sick to my stomach.

The Guerlain shop in France is one of my favorites.....

Another vote for Laila. I love it. It was actually created to be non-allergenic, which is why it's given out in goody bags at the Emmy's and Oscars. I won't make you sneeze or anything. Lovely, light fragrance.

Add me to the list that likes Laila from Norway. It is about $50 for a bottle. My mom loves it and made me buy her a bottle in December since we won't be going back for at least a year and a half. She still had almost a full bottle, but she didn't want to run out.....

My husband bought some cologne in UK by Burberry and they gave him a free sample of a woman's scent which I really like. I have no idea what the name is though, but it is really nice.

It's Laila for me, too! I always budget for that special shopping trip. Even though I have heard you can get it at Nordstorms, it adds a little Disney magic whenever I buy it at EPCOT's Norway. :flower:
