Perfectly Planned - But Who Invited Alberto?!? Day 3 is on the board!!

Day 2 - Pouring Rain, Pouring Beers and Poor Planning

So I wake up on Monday morning to the sounds of pouring rain and high winds outside our bedroom window. I creep out of the bedroom, close the door behind me so DW can continue sleeping, and head out to the living room/dining room/kitchen area of our condo. I throw on a pot of coffee and start flipping channels - the main story on all of the local channels is, of course, the first big tropical storm of the season - Alberto. It seems that Monday will definately be a washout - most likely Tuesday as well. So it's now time for Dad to figure out what we're going to do on two consecutive rainy days. Not just drizzle from the sound of it - but serious, hard-core rain. I have plans to hit ESPN Zone at the Boardwalk today to watch the USA World Cup game and then I thought that we'd head over to Disney Quest - looks like the perfect rainy day activity. But what about Tuesday?

As I'm hanging by myself in the living room, drinking coffee and watching SportsCenter, a commercial comes on the TV for the Kennedy Space Center. The space shuttle is on the launch pad and they are open every day from 9-6 or something like that. It says that it's about 45 minutes East of Orlando. I'm sold immediately - I figure I'll leave it as a surprise for the kids, and I tell my wife about it when she crawls out of bed at about 8:30. So it sounds like we'll have fun despite Alberto. The only thing scratched from our plans now will be our two 'nothing' days. I know that we could've just spent these two rainy days hanging at the condo - but I'm not going to go on vacation and waste my time sitting in a room watching TV. So I guess that Mom and Dad aren't going to get any lazy, sun-drenched pool days. Oh well, maybe next time. DW, being the sicko that she is, decides that she's going to go to the Fitness Center and run on the treadmill for a half hour before we leave. Work out on vaction?!? I've heard that there are people like that, but I didn't know that I was married to one. She was gone for just 35 minutes, but when she came back she said that she had hurt her foot while running - more accurately, she had worn socks that were too short for her new running shoes that we got her for Mother's Day, and she had basically worn away some of the skin at the top of her heel. :sad2: Kinda' yucky. This little injury will come into play at a later time, so remember it...

So we get the kids some breakfast - cereal and bagels - and we head out the door at about 10:15 to go to the ESPN Zone. DW and I have been there before. DW had a conference at the WDW Hilton a few years ago and I tagged along for a few days. One of those days was a Sunday in the Fall, which meant that I had to find a place to watch the Jets game. So we went to ESPN and man, was it packed. We got there an hour before kickoff and never got a table - ended up standing in the bar with our necks craned skyward towards one of the two TVs that had our game on. We ended up hanging with a few other Jets fans, and at halftime, under the previously ignored advisement of the Hilton's concierge, we went to the Orlando Ale House on 535. That was a lot better - I highly recommend it.

So with this background experience with ESPN, I was a little nervous that it'd be packed for the World Cup game. We were going to get there about 45 minutes before gametime so I thought it might be 50/50. We drove to the gate of the Boardwalk, told the security guy that we were heading to ESPN, he asked if we were Valet of Self parking, and when we told him "Self" he directed us to follow the blue line into the Self-park lot. Or in other words, turn immediately left into the farthest possible lot form the hotel. No biggie. We're young and in reasonably good shape. We park the SUV and walk briskly up the hill towards the Boardwalk. We go down those steps to the boardwalk, turn right and what do we see? A line of about 20 people outside of ESPN. Drats!!

But, once we get to the restaurant itself, we find out that it's not even open yet, and that the 15-20 people who are already there are the only ones in front of us for a table. I guess ESPN doesn't open until 11:00, so we have about 25 minutes to wait until we can get in. Up until this point it's been raining, but just something between a drizzle and a light shower, but we're all huddled together under the canopy waiting for them to open. At least DW and I are - the kids are playing in the rain on the boardwalk. DS finds out that the slick boards are particularly condusive to trying the moonwalk, so he's out there doing his best Jacko impersonation, minus the molestation part. Here's a picture of the kids looking over the railing at the lake - you can see what a beautifully sunny Florida day it was...

Finally it's 11:00 and they're going to let us in. And that's when we meet The Grumpiest Hostess in the History of the World. She apparently hit a lot of traffic while driving in on her broom this morning, so she was a little cranky. She was basically yelling at us to get in the proper lines - one for the bar, the other for the dining room - then she started barking out orders to get our names written down for a table. She was like the "Soup Nazi," but without the good sense of humor. Matilda finally barks out our name and we follow another hostess into the virtually empty main dining room. Here comes minor annoyance number two. She doesn't lead us down to the main part of the floor right in front of the 30 foot screen where the game will be on. She takes us to the right, halfway around the second level of the room, a little bit behind a pole. Of all of the tables in this room, there were probably 30 better ones, only 4 of which were taken. We give her this indignant "You're freakin' kidding us, right?!?" look and politely tell her that we're here to watch the game and we'd like to sit right in front of the screen seeing how we've been standing outside in the rain waiting for them to open for a half hour and we'd like to sit down there at one of those 20 empty tables. What does she say?!? "Yes sir." Nope. "Right away, sir." No. She says something to the effect of, "Well, there only two waitresses down there so I wanted to spread everybody out." I'm thinking that it'd make more sense to spread the waitresses out and let the paying customers sit where they want, or perhaps they should hire enough staff to adequately cover the tables that are in the restaurant, but that's perhaps just me. :confused3 We pretty much blow her argument off however and we get seated at a good table with about 15 minutes until the game starts. So we meet our waitress, order a few beers and a few sodas and I take the kids up to the arcade. What does Disney have against quarters?!? I can't just give the kids a pocketful of change like my Dad used to give me. You have to buy a credit card type thing and 'charge' it up with a certain amount of credits. I drop 10 bucks on this thing, the kids play a game each and the World Cup game is starting so we hustle back to our table. We order some hot wings and some more beer and settle in for the game. The game, as you already know, was a BIG disappointment. On the other hand, the wings were really pretty good. Not the usual small wing pieces fried up and bathed in hot ""Buffalo" style sauce. These were the entire wings - all three sections still attached - grilled with a nice spicy rub on them. Delicious and hot and can I get another beer please?!? :drinking1 At this time we look outside and see that the heavens have opened up - it looks like a carwash outside with water blowing in sheets against the windows, so at this point I'm pretty happy that we're here as opposed to one of the parks. Halftime rolls around, the USA team has looked lackluster at best, and we head to the arcade with the kids. We burn through the credits on the card just in time for the second half to start, and when we get back to the table we order a couple more beers and a plate of nachos. The nachos weren't nearly as good as the wings, but we still emptied the plate. After all - they're nachos. So by the time the game is over we're pretty full from just those two appetizers - of course the copious amounts of Yeungling in my belly might've contributed as well. So it's off to DisneyQuest at about 1:30 on a rainy day!!! (I'm guessing that some of you might know what's coming next...)

We walk back to the top of the steps that lead to the entrance to the Boardwalk, and while it's not pouring anymore it's certainly raining steadily. So I get volunteered to walk down to the Self-Park lot - I think that we were in the section closest to Daytona. About halfway down it starts coming down much harder so I actually ended up running the last half. That's a fun thing to do when you're stuffed!! But I get to the SUV and drive back up the hill to pick up the family.

So we cruise over to DisneyQuest, I have now become the official family valet service and I drop the family off as close to the door as possible and go in search of a parking spot. On a rainy day at Disney Quest. I find one just inside the entrance to Typhoon Lagoon and run again, through a pretty good downpour, over to where they're waiting for me inside the giftshop next to DQ. They're looking at pins, and we buy DD and DS a lanyard and 2 pins each to jumpstart their collection. Then I go outside in the rain, which has subsided a bit, and I get into the line for DQ. After about 5 minutes DW notices that there are ticket windows around the bend from us that have nobody in front of them, so she goes to check it out. She returns to tell us the bad news. DQ is sold out!! I didn't know that could happen. Oh no!! Now what are we going to do?!? :guilty: We go back into the giftshop to discuss our options and DD sees a Mickey electronic organizer that she has to have, so she buys it with her own money. Not too bad - just $15 I think. I'm stuck though. I thought that I had all of these perfect plans, and now I'm looking at my kids who are on the first day of what should be a cool vacation and I don't know what to do with them.

So we decide to take a ride up International Drive and see if we can find something. We see Wonderworks, which we consider as an option. We see Ripley's Believe It Or Not and file that away as well. We decide to stop at one of those Souvenir stores on I-Drive to pick up one of the Orlando Advertising Mags to see if we can come up with any other ideas. DW thinks that it's a good idea to stop at the one that's next to a Starbucks, as the gloomy day, several beers and several hours of sitting in a dark room watching a boring soccer match have conspired to make her a little groggy. So she needs to get caffeined up. We get her some Joe, pick up a few of those Ad Mags and DS sees what has to be The Most Disgusting Souvenir in the Greater Orlando Area. A dead, pickled, baby shark in a glass jar. He just has to have it, so he buys it with his own money. The Middle-Eastern man who is running the register has a nice chuckle at us as he wraps the carcass-in-a-can up in newspaper and actually makes us pay to take a dead animal out of his store. So we get into the SUV and we start looking through the Ad Mag for something to do. We see an ad for a place called The Putting Edge that has 18 holes of indoor, glow-in-the-dark miniature golf. SOLD!! It's in the mall at the northern end of I-Drive, and by the time we get there it's raining pretty good again so I do the family valet thing and run through a parking lot for the 3rd time today.

Putting Edge was pretty cool. We got the kids some glow-stick type necklaces and bracelets for while we were playing and we had a good time. It was busy, but not terribly crowded and we never had to wait too long for the group in front of us or anything, so it all went pretty well. The holes were all decorated with underwater themes, so it felt like you were playing miniature golf in an enormous glow-in-the-dark aquarium. I won by a pretty good margin, DW came in 2nd and somehow, miraculously, perhaps through some creative scorekeeping by Dad on the last 4 holes, DD and DS finished in a third place tie!!! So all was good. It was now about 5:15 and it was still raining pretty good. So we decided that we'd go see a movie, since it was right next door to the miniature golf place in the mall. I would've liked to have seen Cars, but it wasn't starting until 6:30. So we saw Over the Hedge instead, which started at 5:25. The theater was OK. Nice stadium style seats, big enough screen. The movie was cute, but not great. I fell asleep for about 20 minutes of it.

So when we walk out of the theater it's after 7:00 and we're all getting a little hungry again. So we stop at Sweet Tomatos on I-Drive. Nice place. Perfect for a hungry family like mine. Huge, well-stocked salad bar that you go through before you pay. Really fresh veggies and salads, all the fixins. They make strawberry lemonade that you help yourself to, and along the side of the restaurant they have all kinds of fresh breads, soups, pastas and desserts. They had some kind of pizzas and baked potatos in this area as well, so it was pretty easy and very affordable for us to fill up. It reminded me of Ponderosa's salad bar, but a lot better prepared and stocked - everything was very fresh and delicious. My DD perticularly liked the potato leek soup. I was a fan of the spicy pasta dish and the Asian chicken salad. The only complaint is that it was really pretty cold there. I'm never cold, and I was a little chilly. You can see in the picture above how the kids were dressed, so they were considerably colder.

By now it's 8:30 or so, so we decide to head back to Vistana Village and make it an early night. En route we pass by Skull Kingdom, that haunted house looking place on I-Drive, and DS starts clamoring for us to go there. DD wants nothing to do with it though, and I really don't have a need to go either, so we put it on the back burner.

We get back to the condo and it's no longer raining, so we take the kids down to the pool for a quick dip and call it a night. Before I go to bed, I notice that there's a message on the phone. I call the voicemail and there are actually 3 messages. I think, "Man these timeshare people are persistent!!" But only one of the messages is the same "We have your welcome package..." message. The other 2 are weather updates from the front desk concerning Alberto. Nice touch. Seems like it might rain again tomorrow though, in case I haven't heard.

Next, Day 3 - DisneyQuest and Lost in Orlando.

I love the ESPN report. We went there for basketball finals once and had to put up with a pole too........dont they know a pole interfers with our watching....to funny
Thanks for your report and hope you have some sun

Enjoyed reading your reports ~ Thanx for sharing.

Day 3 - DisneyQuest and Lost in Orlando.

So I wake up on Tuesday morning to, you guessed it - pouring rain. I run through my usual morning ritual - coffee, weather, SportsCenter. It looks like it's going to rain the majority of the day so it appears as if DisneyQuest would be a good call.

The kids have cereal and bagels, my wife and I get caffeined up, and we're out the door.

We head over to the reception area of Vistana Village, where they have one of those off-site ticket desks. There's a few people in line, but within a matter of minutes I get to a representative and I purchase our tix for DQ and our 2 day Disney tix. He tells me that I could probably save some money by talking to the guys over in Vacation Services, but after some brief questioning he affirms that I'll only save $$ by sitting through a timeshare presentation, so we grab our full price tix and we're on our way.

We get to DQ about 25 minutes before it's supposed to open, and of course it's raining. So I stand in line with my flimsy $5 WalMart mini-umbrella that my wife and I bought on our way into NYC to see a U2 concert last Fall on a pouring Saturday night. We figured on that night that if they wouldn't let us into Madison Square Garden with umbrellas, we wouldn't be too upset if we had to ditch them. Same thing with DQ, particularly since they've been used a few times.

So I'm standing out in the open by the tower that shows you what the roller-coaster simulator looks like, and it's really raining and blowing pretty hard. DW, DD and DS are hanging out under the overhang at the House of Blues, and they keep waving to me like, "Hey Dad!!!! It's nice and dry over here!!!" I didn't really get too wet, but it wasn't a pleasant morning to say the least.

They let us into DQ a few minutes early - perhaps they just wanted to get us out of the rain, or maybe they always open those first doors a few minutes early. Regardless, we're in through the turnstiles and on our elevator before the posted opening time. We go up the elevator with our map in hand and we devise our gameplan. First things first - where's the Pirates of the Caribbean Game?!? Bottom Floor!!! Let's go!!!!!!!! This is the first of many times that I felt like Lt. Winters from Band of Brothers. "Follow Me!!"

episode03_picture.jpg

I'm a pretty big guy (6'3" - 240 lbs.), so it's my job (at least in my mind) to figure out where we're going and blaze a path through all of those smaller, less-determined vacationers in our way.

So we find the staircase that leads downstairs and we go down to the bottom floor and run over to POC. Nobody in line until we get all the way up front. Nice. Within minutes we're being handed our glasses and we're being led to our ship. That's a really cool game. I was the captain, so I was in charge of driving the boat and yelling out to everyone where the other ships were so that they could run back and forth, firing their cannons like madmen. We really liked this a lot, and said that we'd return to it later.
Overall Grade for Pirates of the Caribbean - Battle for Buccaneer Gold: A

Next we scurry over to the Virtual Jungle Cruise. Not much of a line either, so we run on within a matter of minutes and climb into our raft. We pick up our oars and our adventure begins. I have to say that this wasn't as good as I expected. Maybe it was the kids, maybe it's just the game - but it didn't seem like we could control what we doing very well. I was rowing and rowing like a maniac, and it seemed like we were just going wherever the current was taking us. Nothing special here. I'd only do it again if I could just walk right on - I'd never wait in line for it, for sure.
Overall Grade for Virtual Jungle Cruise: C

So after this is over we run upstairs one level and get in the line for Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride. The crowds are definitely starting to fill DQ up by this time, as we wait about 20 minutes to get on this game. We have our first experience with those snap on virtual reality helmets and have a good time riding our carpets around, collecting jewels and scarab beetles, etc..... Good game, not great. Fun enough. I got a laugh when I turned my head to the side before the game actually started and saw that all of my family members were monkeys. DD, who loves monkeys, thought this was cool too.
Overall Grade for Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride: B+

After Aladdin we walk to the other side of the 2nd floor and get in line for CyberSpace Mountain. I thought that this was pretty cool and actually worth the wait - which was probably close to 40 minutes. DS went with me, DD and DW went together. DS wanted to put everything we could into our virtual coaster, so we ended up with 7 inversions!! We pretty much just kept on pushing any element that said, "Extreme!!" When all was said and done, our computer gave us the highest intensity score possible - I think it was a 5. DD and DW's coaster was a 2!! Wimps. :sad2: So we get in that 2nd line, we chat with some British people while we're waiting, and soon enough we're getting into our capsule. It was pretty wild, lots of flipping and twisting - I have to say I was getting a little queasy by the time it ended, but it was still a good ride. DD thought it was a little scary, but she liked her baby coaster good enough, I guess.
Overall Grade for CyberSpace Mountain: B+

By this time we need a bathroom break, so we skip over the 3rd floor (how does a place like this not have a bathroom on every floor?!?) and run up to the 4th floor. DS and I shoot a few hoops in the Sports Arena Arcade while we're waiting for the girls, and we decide that we need a drink. So I go over to the counter at the Wonderland Cafe and get a large root beer (DD's favorite) and a piece of PeanutButter Cup Cheesecake. We grab a seat at the counter and dig in. That cake was awesome - I highly recommend it.

We wolf it down pretty quick and decide that we should go back downstairs and head over to Buzz Lightyear's Astroblaster. There's a pretty good line here as well, probably 30+ minutes, but the wait goes pretty quick with all of those 80s video games around. DW holds our place in line while me and the kids play some coin-op games from days gone by. I really got a kick out of this, especially telling the kids about the many wasted hours and quarters I went through playing Dig-Dug, Mr. Do!!, Galaga, Donkey Kong and PacMan at the laundromat and roller skating rink when I was a kid. So we get on the AstroBlaster - DD goes with me, DW and DS are together. DD and I take a cart that is kinda' by itself, and I immediately run away from everyone else and pick up as many balls as possible. This helped a lot, as we were never wanting for ammo during the game. We circle around, shooting at a few nondescript vacationers, and then we see DW and DS. BULLSEYE!!! :cool1: Their cart goes flying around in circles with lights flashing and DD and I celebrate and laugh our butts off. We get ours a couple of times too, but what's most important is that DW and DS never get us!! We all liked this game quite a bit, and if the line wasn't so long we would've probably done it again.
Overall Grade for Buzz Lightyear's AstroBlaster: A-

After this, we all race each other in a game of Daytona USA, which is always a good time.

Next we hit the Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam, which surprisingly has no line. We get on in 5 minutes, and we thought it was just OK. Not terribly easy to control where you're going, but still better than that Jungle Cruise game. Probably wouldn't do it again though.
Overall Grade for Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam: C+

After this we play some of the racing games on this floor. DS is big on StarWars, so him and DW play that pod racing game, I play some Fast and the Furious game, DS and I play some snowmobile racing game, and we head up to the 5th floor.

Next is Ride the Comix. We wait a good 25 minutes for this one, which brings us to our second experience with those virtual reality helmets. This ride has you swinging a light saber to fight some evil villains. It was fun. Not great, but still fun.
Overall Grade for Ride the Comix: B

From there we go straight to Invasion! An ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. Not much of a line, and within 10 minutes we're sitting in our capsule. DD and DS take turns saying that they want to be captain and then backing out, so ultimately I get to be the captain, stopping to pick up the good guys while the rest of the family blasts aliens into submission. Cool game - not as good as Pirates, but still good.
Overall Grade for Invasion! An ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter: B+

After this we try to figure out if we've done everything. We stop by some more of the classic 80s video games and the kids come to the conclusion that they're getting hungry. The line at the FoodQuest is ridiculously long though, so we decide not to wait 30 minutes for some cafeteria food and we trudge on through the arcade. We play some more games as we're wandering downstairs, and we tell the kids that we're going to leave in a little while and we'll have a nice big dinner. We play Joust!, Missile Command, Pitfall, Ms. PacMan, some more Donkey Kong, etc...

We go downstairs and gawk at some freakish kids playing DanceDance Revolution. I say freakish not because they were odd in appearance, but freakish because I never knew that human legs were so pliable or quick-moving. I guess some kids still waste a lot of quarters, huh? :confused3 We're getting ready to head downstairs and what do DS and DD see?!? Their favorite - AirHockey. So we wait about 10 minutes for a table to open up and the kids face off in a game. This gives DW and a chance to give the map of DQ one last going over to make sure we didn't miss anything great. We decide that we've done more or less everything worthwhile, so we'll head downstairs and do Pirates one last time and call it a day. This time around there's a good 25 minute wait for Pirates. While we're standing in line, I found some Hidden Mickeys in the trees above the Pirates entrance made of 3 coconuts and had a good time pointing them out to the kids. This got the kids into the hidden Mickey spirit, and they spent a lot of time pointing out anything even remotely resembling a Mickey head to me. It's cool when you find a Hidden Mickey that you've read about, but this was one I found on my own, which felt even cooler. This time DW took the wheel on Pirates, so I was free to run around blasting cannons like crazy. I think we were better off when I was the captain, not because I drove any better, but because I have a much louder mouth and was able to bark out orders more effectively. So we get off of the game and call it a day. All in all, I'd say that DQ was a pretty good time. A lot better than spending the day soaked with yellow garbage bags over our heads...

When we walk out of the ever-present Disney Gift Shop en route to the exit, we're taken aback by what we see. "What is that strange, glowing orb suspended high in the sky?!?" Someone from AZ informs us that it is, in fact, the sun. We rejoice!!!

So we get to the SUV and we decide that we're going to go to Carrabba's for dinner. We've never been there, but we've heard good things. We had looked it up earlier before we left for the day, and we knew that it was on Vineland. So we leave the Downtown Disney area, we turn right on 535, we go through one traffic light and what do we see a sign for?!? Vineland. Wow!! That was easy. So we turn left on Vineland, we see BahamaBreeze, we see a steakhouse, we go a ways and we see the outlet mall, we see McDonald's, we see some other restaurants, but no Carrabba's. We actually come to the end of Vineland at International Drive, one block away from our resort. So we figure that we must have missed it, so we drive around the outlet parking lot, thinking that maybe it's tucked in there. Nope. We go back towards where we came from, past Dixie Stampede and all the way back to 535 again. Still no Carrabba's!! What gives?!? So we hang a left onto 535 and go to a gas station down past Chick-Fil-A. I run inside, get some bottled water for the condo and ask the guy behind the register, who is surprisingly of Middle-Eastern descent, if he knows where Carrabba's is. He gives us directions to the only one that he knows, about 10 minutes away up by Universal on Kirkman. OK. We get on 4 and hustle up there, and it's exactly where he said it would be. On the corner of Kirkman and - what's that sign say?!? Oh, you have to be kidding me!! That sign says Vineland!! We drove from one end of Vineland to the other. You couldn't go any farther. But we were on the wrong Vineland?!? Sheesh. I'm no Vasco DeGama, but that seems a bit confusing and unfair.

So we go into Carrabba's and we immediately get a table. The kids are starving, so we put in our entire order including the Antipasti Platter, which isn't antipasta, but a collection of appetizers including fried mozzerella and calimari. It was decent. The beer was cold, the wine was good, the bread was delicious. DS realized that he's a big fan of bread dipped into olive oil and Italian spices - couldn't get enough of it. The kids both had spaghetti and meatballs, I had chicken parm which was good, DW had Pasta Carrabba which was also good. So the food was all pretty good. The service, on the other hand, not so much. The waiter forgot our appetizer, when he asked if we wanted more to drink we asked about the appetizer and it was apparent that he had forgotten it. He asked if we still wanted it, I said that we did so long as it wasn't piled on top of our food. He assured me it wouldn't be and hustled off to get it. It arrived, but then our food arrived less than 5 minutes later. That really annoys me. Strike 1. Then he informs us after my wife orders an Italian Sangria and starts drinking it that it was happy hour and we should have had 2 for 1 drinks. So my wife ends up doubled up on the wine, I'm doubled up on the beer, it's just too chaotic for my taste. A good deal, but too much confusion and too little attention to my needs. To make it up to us he comps us dessert, and we enjoy the connolis. Total bill was $71 - I think I tipped the guy $14 in spite of his crappy service, and we were on our way back to Vistana.

I decide to take the scenic route down International Drive, DS goes nuts over Skull Knigdom again, again we tell him probably not and we head back to the resort for a quick dip in the pool and an early night.

Of course, there's yet another message from the Time Share sharks which I again delete and ignore. I'm pleasantly surprised that the Mets game against the Phillies is still going on (rain delay), so I sit on the couch with a beer in hand and enjoy the evening. Tomorrow we're finally going to a theme park!!!

Next, Day 4 - Speedin', Soarin' and Sore Feet.

Thanks for the description of DQ; we've never been and it was great to get a view from the family perspective. :thumbsup2

Loved your Dick Winters (BofB) ref; thats one of my DH's favorites.

Am looking forward to more!

No problem Kat - DQ was a really fun day. Don'y know if I'd drop the ~$130 it costs to go there on a sunny day, but it was a good day during the pouring rain.

Hoping to do the next day over the holiday weekend.

And, BTW, Dick Winters was the f'in man.

WOW Ed,

Who knew you had such skills. I am loving your trip report and I really like the detailed description of DQ. I guess I should have known we had a talent with the Omaha steak comment :smooth:

Write on I am waiting to find out what happens next!!

I love your report, we also stay on I-drive. I love it!! I can see why your ds wanted to go to skull kingdom too, the outside is pretty neat. It actually is cool, dh and I did it one year. I loved your report on DQ. I have never been, this is the first time i've actually heard a description of it, I would love to take my kids. We may now squeeze it in next year. Can't wait to read more.
