I'm new to this board (l've been lurcking for a while but haven't posted much) and I wanted to ask if anyone else has felt the same way that I felt on my recent trip to WDW...

Does anyone else feel like crying with joy when you see SpectroMagic or Wishes? The music, the atmosphere, the smells... for me, it was so magical during Wishes because I was with my parents, my brother, and my husband... we had spent a fantastic night in the park (including eating at the Plaza Restaurant, my favorite!) and were anticipating the E-Ride night we would soon be experiencing... the castle was in the background, we were smack dab in the middle of fantasyland... looking around at all the faces in the crowd, no matter what their age, awed at the spectacular show... it was INCREDIBLE. I just remember wanting to bottle up my happiness. It was a truly wonderful night... one that I will remember forever.

While the fireworks spectactulars may not cause me to tear up, I do admit to getting happily emotional over other aspects of WDW. Sometimes just reading other's posts on the DIS is enough to get me.

Guess I'm just a big softy at heart.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I feel the same way each trip that we take to Disney. The happiness that is felt by my family is so exciting as well as the aniticipation for what is to come. The castle in the background as we walk down Main Street the first day of our trip, gets me teary eyed everytime. I love looking at my daughter's face and seeing the amazment and excitement when she sees characters, parades, etc. That along is worth the whole trip. I too have memories that I will remember forever. Each trip leads to more wonderful memories... I can't wait to see what my daughter's favorite is each year!

The emotional responses WDW can evoke are what truly seperates it from other theme parks.

I especially get emotional at Illuminations, but other things get me too like:
Seeing the castle for the first time on a trip
Festival of the Lion King-especially during "Circle of Life"
the looks on my kids' faces laughing hysterically on Goofy's Barnstormer
Spectro
Waving good-bye to the castle for the last time

I wish some of my family and friends "got it" and could appreciate it like we do, but oh well. It's their loss.

Heck, I get kind of choked up when the airplane lands at the Orlando airport! I love Disney World so much and am so glad to find others out there who feel the same way. My husband and family love Disney, too, but they haven't reached the same heights of obsessiveness that I have... :0)

Illuminations can do it for me, especially the words to the song ...and we'll go on through the laughter and the tears...

Another one used to be True Colors at Honey I shrunk the Audience. I'd love to get a video of that.

i know what you mean about getting emotional right after you exit the plane and your in mco with you whole glorious disney vacation in front of you. its a fantastic feeling. we all get overly excited as we drive in thru the main entrance way to the disney property and i always loose it at the fireworks and spectromagic. the worst is that last look when you leaving the magic kingdom to go home. i cry like a baby.

How I do envy you people and your emotional freedom. I love Disney and I go as often as I can. I have warm, happy feelings but cannot say that anything has moved me to tears, with the exception of the VISA bill when I return.

I can feel the emotion of excitement and happiness but the one that triggers tears (or equivalent reaction) was apparently trampled on by life experience. Oh well, please continue to have those feelings, they are some of lifes best.

I tear up when I hear the Spectro music. The first time I ever went to Disney was in 1990 with my DH, DS, DD, and my Mom and Dad. I was 36 and more excited to be there than the kids. As Spectro came down Main St, I was overcome with emotion. My DD, Mom and I linked arm and arm and lived the moment.
My Mom passed away 1998. My family returned to WDW in 1999 and again watched Spectro, this time just my daughter and I arm in arm. We both looked at each other and cried like babies remembering that 1st magical time with my Mom. It was priceless. We have been to WDW many times since and Spectro holds a special place in our hearts.

When we went to Disney in October of 2002, my family and I had just gone through 2 years of pretty bad experiences. I had been out of work for most of those 2 years(I work in IT in the Boston area and things were really bad for awhile) and my wife had had a very difficult pregnancy with doctors constantly telling us that she would either lose the baby or he would die within the first 2 years.

Once things got better (found job, baby was absolutely fine and we actually managed to buy our first home) and the baby was old enough, we went back to Disney. We went right to the MK as soon as we got there and happened to walk in right as the parade was coming through. As soon as I saw Mickey drive by in his snow globe I started crying. It is still the best trip to Disney we have ever had.

I also get a little misty the first time I hear Peter Pan say "Here we goooooooo...." on the Peter Pan ride. That was the first MK ride I ever went on.

Cry when seeing the the nightime Spectaculars? Of course, heck I cry when I listen to the ROE, Wishes, and Fantasmic soundtracks at home. I can close my eyes and be there, if only for a few minutes. Its too bad dinner is usually burning on the stove while I close my eyes and dream.

I don't even have to be anywhere near Florida in order to tear up about Disney World. We watched the vacation planning DVD at least 4x this weekend (for the sake of my 2 year old who is also obsessed) and I cried countless times just watching the DVD! However, actually being in DW brings on emotions I can't even explain.

The True Colors always gets me, but the biggest one is the song at the end of the American Adventure.

When Tink taps Walt on the shoulder, it just gives me shivers!

I know what you mean!! We get teary when we hit I-4!! Everything else is just icing on the cake... Although we admit to not seeing Main Street properly after the Opening Ceremony at MK, due to tears streaming down our faces... Fortunately for me, DH and DS are as crazy for Disney as I am!

This last trip was just so perfect that I can tear up very easily, and I never used to get that emotional over things! It started with Wishes for the first time and ever since it just gets easier and easier to tear up. It is truly a magical place for my family and I--I guess that's why we decided to become DVC members! Since we can't bottle it up (and I really wish I could), we just have to go down as much as possible!!

I teared up at SpectroMagic--watching my 5 yr old niece singing along, identifiying the characters as they came by, being thrilled when one or two shook her hand. In fact, I'm tearing up now!
