For 11 long months we promised ourselves that we would keep our Disney vacation a secret from the children (DD11 DS8),as last time they knew straight away and for nearly a year thats all they talked about,they were planning every tiny detail,counting how many sleeps! By the time we got on the plane DH and i were exhusted.
I packed the bags in secret when the kids were at school,and stored them in the garage,i told them we might go to europe for a weekend so i could get their passports redone without any questions.We did discuss our next Disney vacation together,but we told them it would probably be 2011 before we would go again just to get an idea of things that they wanted to do.
They did not have a clue
The night before i had the kids in their rooms doing homework.They had baths and went to bed at 8.30 and straight to sleep(perfect).At 5.30 am DH woke them up and said that they had to go downstairs as there was something for them to see.So bleary eyed they came down and into the living room were i was sat with the video camera and three suitcases,DH said "You are not going to school today" confused faces proceeded,"where do you think you are going we asked" "Wales?" they said (our normal weekend getaway)"No,Where would you LIKE to go"? "Disney?" they said cautiously, "Yes,your right we're going to Disney".Faces of complete and utter shock came over them,i dont think they believed us at first as they kept on saying "really,really?.We told them that the taxi would be arriving in an hour to take us to the airport.Eyes filling up (ours and theirs) their was lots of "Oh my goshes",and, "its a dream,its not real".
It was the most perfect start to the most perfect Disney vacation.And what was best about it was they hadnt burnt out before they got there,and they will remember that morning for the rest of their lives
