Perfect 20's are those who have run all 19 marathons to date and then top it off with their 20th this January. According to the Mouse, there are 95 runners who are eligible for the Perfect 20 celebration. I understand that they will have a special section in the Pasta in the Park meal on the Thursday prior to the race. I would hope that they also have a special spot in a MK parade.
Amazingly, I can count 11 of the 95 as friends or acquaintances I have made through the years. These are folks who I have run with, met through other running groups and one special individual who was standing in the cast member area of DHS during my first marathon way back when. He was standing there holding his medal and calmly encouraging all of us 7 hour folks to finish
If you see a runner sporting a different bib, or some other thing out of the ordinary, stop them and say congrats. Running 20 of anything without breaking a streak is a huge accomplishment. Disney will do this right, I am sure. The only marathoning regret I have is that I failed to act when my brother phoned in 1993 telling me about this really neat race coming to Disney. He lived in Clearwater then and almost had me. I am not sure that I would have been successful due to my lack of physical activity then, or that I would have a streak due to the family, injury issues that have cropped up over the years. But I can dream.
Finally, I have to ask, are there any Perfect 20's on this forum?
