Since we'll be at the World for 21 days, we'll probably check out quite a few resorts and have a bite to eat at some if we feel like it. Which made me wonder; how does Peppermarket work on the DDP? I know about the different stations, the piece of paper they stamp off, it being a weird combo between CS and TS. But what I'm wondering about is the auto 18% gratuity. Is that included in the DDP or should we be aware of the fact that we still need to add it?

Also anything not included with the CS DDP, or just like any other CS-place at your regular resort?

We were not told of any exclusions when we were there last year. The tip is not 18% there. It is 10% and is no longer included in the DDP. It is also required so you will have to pay it out of pocket.

Agree with PP... the fee is 10%, not included in DDP, must be paid OOP. Just read it on a CSR-only board.

PS -- the kids meal guy is super nice and has a whole pile of bags and will give one to you to put all of your TO GO stuff in if you ask him.

Also, if you eat in the pepper market, the servers are supposed to bring your drinks, but no one ever came to us and I ended up having to go to the counter myself.

We also had the refillable mugs, so I would refill them after we went outside to eat with our supper. So, for my choice of beverage when getting my TO GO supper stuff, I would choose water bottles for the adult choices to bring to the parks the next day. Or, an apple juice bottle for breakfast the next morning.

If you get the 14" pizza there, the credit is the same as for the 9" pizza, so if you want to save credits here, go for it, you can EASILY feed 2 on this pizza.

The dessert option also has a specialty dessert line where you can get 3 churros, or a scoop of ice cream with toppings with a churro, or an ice cream cone and a churro.

Just be sure and visit all of your sections for what you're entitled to before you cash out. Your entrees, dessert, and beverage. Kids meal guy handles the whole kids thing for you.

I just ate there last week on the QSDP. I did NOT pay OOP for the 10% service charge.:confused3

That's the same thing that happened to us last week the one time we did eat in there. It stated on the ticket that you would. We thought maybe because it was POURING when we were there.

When I went, it was almost 9:30 PM when we paid. There were very very few people there. I even thought I read on the menu that the service charge was included in dining plans BUT gratuity was not. Now I wish I took a picture of the menu...

Thanks so much for all the replys, you guys!! We'll remember the 10%, no prob. with that.

DJFan88; what is a churro? We're not from the US and you've got me doing a :confused3 , so to say. ;)

I don't think it was included in the plan, just that they didn't charge it to us, like we got our order to go.

A churro is GREAT! They have them in Mexico at Epcot too and since Coronado has kind of that theme, that's probably what it's from..
It's like a big rolled up fried dough stick with cinnamon sugar on it.

You have to pay the 10% out of pocket when you are on the DDP. If you didn't, then you didn't leave a tip at all. It states on the back of the dining card you get "GRATUITY IS NOT INCLUDED IN PACKAGE PLANS".

The way that the information was written on the menu, a SERVICE CHARGE would automatically be added to your bill. If it is automatically added, why didn't the cashier do that? Even if it isn't covered by the dining plan, all the statements around said that it would automatically be added to the bill. You would expect that there would be a room charge like at TS locations or some other provision for payment.

And the way the statements read on the menu, they use SERVICE CHARGE and GRATUITY, the way it read to me, these were totally different things. By definition, gratuity is a voluntary choice by a patron to give to a server. It is customary, but not manditory. There are guidelines, but there is not a set percentage. A SERVICE CHARGE on the other hand, has a set amount and is stated up front as an additional REQUIRED fee. If it is required, then there should be policies in place to see that payment is made, one way or another.

The whole thing wasn't explained very clear at all to some one who just goes to the restaurant on a whim to eat some food.

Are you suggesting that the proper way was that we were supposed to just leave it on the table and not pay it at the register even though the clear wording on the back of the dining ticket says it will be added to the bill? Or, are we supposed to say to the check out cashier "Hey, you forgot to add my 10%". Just wondering as your statement seems attacking. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, however, I do that alot. In our case, the beverage person did not bring our drinks as is why the service charge is added and when I went to get them at the counter and told them they specifically asked where I was sitting.

Yes, you leave it on the table if you are on the DDP. If you are not, then it will be added to your bill because money is changing hands.

Not attacking, that's how it's printed on the back of the card.

We stayed at CSR 8/13-8/21 and ate at Pepper Market on our first night there. Since we were new to DDP, the cashier explained to us that she could not add the 10% gratuity on to our bill since she was just swiping our KYYW card to deduct the meals. We would have to leave the 10% on the table in the form of cash, she said. Now, she said if we had paid out of pocket for the meal, the 10 percent would show up automatically on our bill at the cashier.

Since our server was very nice, kept our drinks refilled and brought us to-go bags for our dessert, we felt she deserved the tip. The cashier was nice enough to break a $20 for us so we could leave an appropriate tip on the table.

Hope this helps!

You can see a picture of the new PM dining card on allears.net. They can't charge you a gratuity when no money is changing hands, that's why it needs to be left on the table, if warranted.

That was a perfect picture. It shows how the wording is unclear. It says:

A 10% service charge and sales tax will automatically be added to your bill. Lost tickets will be subject to surcharge.
*GRATUITY IS NOT INCLUDED IN PACKAGE PLANS*

If the word GRATUITY was supposed to be referring the SERVICE CHARGE that would automatically be added, WHY did they use a different word? They aren't the same thing. It's not good communication at all if they think that gratuity and service charge are interchangeable.

Regardless, the whole set up is poorly adapted to the dining plans, because there doesn't seem to be provision for a room charge for whatever would not be covered by a dining plan. Additionally, there doesn't seem to be provision for whatever you would have to charge to your room to be assigned to the server that served you, because they aren't the ones that deal with your ticket.

I understand that this is the methodology, but logistically, it makes no sense. There is an error in the programming.

If the service charge for a cash customer can somehow be associated with a particular server, then there is no reason why a room charge couldn't also. A system's analyst somewhere could fix that programming to make it be more like a TS restaurant so that the required OOP expense could be paid with a KTTW.

ETA...until that happens, there will always be people like DH and myself that read a statement for what it is and believe that things that are REQUIRED and AUTOMATICALLY done will BE done, and apparently get out of paying something that is REQUIRED and AUTOMATICALLY done. It's unfortunate because I'm not a stingy person, and I wouldn't have minded paying the 10% OOP, but was completely unable to do so under their current methodology.

I agree, the language is not perfect and i wish they would get rid of the tip altogether but in the mean time, it is what it is. I was just trying to help clarify it.
