Peppermarket and DDP

I agree, the language is not perfect and i wish they would get rid of the tip altogether but in the mean time, it is what it is. I was just trying to help clarify it.
I think you did. I'm not offended. If anything, I don't like the impression that my actions would have made on my server, because I'm not the kind of person that normally does what I apparantly did. LOL. Ah well, live and learn...

The servers are who I feel sorry for because think about how many guests just get up and leave because they believe the gratuity (service charge) is still included in the DDP. There is also a sign at the entrance that states "the service charge/gratuities are not included in the Meal Plan" but how many people miss that as well. The sign went up in December of 2009.

Hmmm.... well, since no server ever came to my table. Don't know who that would be who would get the tip -- maybe myself since I went and got the drinks and cleaned our table up. We never even saw a server. I guess they still deserve a tip if the sign says so!
Actually I just expected and was more than willing to be charged since it said a 10% charge would be added to my bill. Didn't get out my law book to examine that no money was changing hands or anything like that.
We actually loved doing the TOGO service at Pepper Market. Waited on ourself, brought it outside.
There are however, a few workers at the actual stations who are above and beyond in my book and deserved to be tipped personally.

You can see a picture of the new PM dining card on allears.net. They can't charge you a gratuity when no money is changing hands, that's why it needs to be left on the table, if warranted.

That seems like a bad system all around. For people who leave their cash in the safe or rely on credit/debit and don't bring much/any cash at all, that's just asking to leave the 10% unpaid. Had I not come across this thread it never would have crossed my mind that the 10% wouldn't just be charged to my KTTW at the register; most of the time at Disney I wouldn't have cash on me to leave the tip on the table.

They let us charge tips to the KTTW at TS locations when no other money is changing hands. I wonder why it is different at PM?

Jack, on allears, just did a two-part review of the CSR after staying there. Here is what he wrote on the PM and the 10% gratuity:

"At the end of the meal, one person in your party can gather up all of the receipts and pay as you leave. No more cold food. A 10% gratuity is automatically added to your bill unless you’re on a Dining Plan. In this case, no tip is added so please remember your server."

We have not eaten at PM since the tip has not been included. After reading the back of the bill pictured in the link, I would also figure tip was included with my total bill, due to the wording.

"A 10% service charge and sales tax will automatically be added to your bill."

It states
1) service charge
2) automatically, along with the sales tax.

To me that would not mean leave money on a table for a tip. I certainly would not leave money on a table to cover sales tax. So why would I think I need to for an automatic % service charge?
If a tip should be left on the table, that is how they need to word it.

I would consider a specific % for a service charge to be added to my bill, as it states.

I think that the OP has the answer to their question and all tipping discussion is limited to The Tipping Info thread, which is a sticky at the top of the main board.
