People waiting in line say the darndest things!

Hey now! Be fair. She's a little girl! I'm not even sure I was interested in or much aware of other countries outside USA until I was probably in 5th grade. My world consisted of only my own locality. I certainly wasn't interested in even other states. California might as well have been a foreign country when I was 8. Just wasn't on the radar for me. I feel that our children today are much more globally aware at an earlier age. The world is certainly getting smaller and faster.

And there are 2 official languages of Canada. I probably would have said French in parts and English in parts because my family that is still in Canada only speak French where they live. They can understand and speak English but their first language is French. Some of the old folks in the family still speak a form of French when they get together at family reunions even though they have lived here in the states all their lives.

We were there a few weeks ago and were standing in line for the resort monorail after watching Spectromagic and the fireworks. There was a family standing in front of us with 2 little boys who were squabbling. The younger pinched the older who then slapped the younger. Then the Dad went ballastic screaming that when they go back to the hotel he was going to hold the older boy so his brother could punch him in the face an stomach as much as he liked. He just went on and on until both boys were crying and the mother looked like she wanted to. Luckily DD5 was sleeping and was therefore spared the scene. All I could think was how sad, if this guy acts like that in public what does he do in private :scared1:

While waiting in line at the turn-style to get into the Magic Kingdom, the lady in front of me asked the cm - "Will there be lines inside the park too?" ;)

Don't many Canadians speak French as well? I think it was probably an honest question, especially from a child. Now, if mom had said they speak Canadian, that would have been a hoot!:rotfl:

I was thinking the same thing. I hope the OP told her they also speak French.

Ditto for some friends of ours from Quebec.

I was waiting for the bus from AK when a family of 4 joined me. The dad was telling the younger daughter that she would be tall enough for EE next year. The older daughter was telling the mom she didn't see the yeti this year and did she know where she was? I happened to be taking out my pony tail (hair is really long, curly and somewhat wild) and heard the youngest whisper "There's the yeti." :lmao:

:lmao: You need to have 2 boys to understand!

After Illuminations, we got on a VERY crowded bus from EPCOT to ASMu. I got a seat next to a guy holding a huge package. He was very chatty, and started telling me all about how he was there with his elderly mother who saw the monorail playset earlier and really liked it. So he took her back to the resort to get settled in, then ran back to the bus, rode to EPCOT, went to 3 different stores because he forgot where he saw it, and finally bought the monorail just as the park was closing. Now he just had to figure out how to hide the thing from his mom in the room and how to get it home on the plane. I didn't have the heart to tell him there was a huge display of the things in our resort gift shop, with a big sign that said "Free Ground Shipping." :rotfl2:

A few years ago my mother (who was only 91 at the time) was visiting me from New York. One of the attractions I took her to was The American Adventure. During the Valley Forge scene she turns to me and whispers: "Michael, is that a real horse General Washington is on?" I immediately told he no.

On the way out, after the show had ended, I tried to explain to her that everyone she saw was an audio animatronic and not a real person; she really did not believe me. Later in the year, for Christmas, I bought her a copy of the Imagineering Guide to Epcot and had her read about animatronics and that show.

This wasn't in line, but always makes us chuckle.

When we were dining at Mama Melrose the waitress came to take our order. My DS (3) was asked if he wanted the soup or salad. He thought for a minute and responded, "Mmmm, what's the super salad?"

Has become a family joke now!

On our first trip:

1. Me to DH: Go get fast passes for Dumbo, I've read the lines get really long for that one.

2. On the train at MK:
DH: What's that really long line for?
Me: Must be for Jungle Cruise, today's the last day before they close for some renovations. (Thinking I was slick for knowing that.)
DH: Ohhh. Maybe we should get a fast pass then.
Some man next to us: Actually that's the line for Splash Mountain.
Me to man: Thanks, this is our first trip.
Me to DH: This will probably end up on the DIS on a "what you overheard thread", I'm sooo embarassed" :rotfl:

3. On the way to Aladdin's Magic Carpets
DH: Oh no, is that bird really stuck up there? We should notify someone, the bird will get really hurt. :headache:

I missed it (I was in the room with food poisoning) but dh and dds were in line for Toy Story Mania and got to Mr. Potato head. I guess he interacted with older dd (9) and she was pretty embarrased.

When we were waiting in line a few days later so I could ride, she stood out of sight of Mr. Potato head until the line was past him so he would get her again. People behind us in line were getting pretty grumbly.

She must have that kind of face becuase she always gets picked to ask a question at Turtle Talk with Crush.

Some of these are hillarious! We always manage to hear silly things. I love to people watch and listen by nature so I guess that helps. The worst was when DS3's diaper leaked (he was about 18 months old) and DH was holding him on his shoulders. It was quite obvious that there was an "issue" so DH stopped and changed his diaper while we got in line for TSM after checking with the CM to make sure it was ok. She was very nice and clearly saw there was a problem (DH's wet shirt). Well, he got DS3 changed and she let him back into the line. He passed some guy who called him the "f" word and accused him of lying to cut in line. Seriously - you'd lie about being peed on?? Anyways, the look on the guy's face was priceless later in the line when he saw DH with our family who hadn't been lying - he really was just trying to catch up to us.

DS,6 to DM while standing in a very long line for Dumbo in the July heat:"Mommy did you know you have a mustache?"

DM to DS,6: "No I don't honey, shhhhh...."

DS,6 to DM: (very loudly)"Yes you do Mommy, look it's right there" (DS was now pointing to DM's very embarassed face)

DM wished the earth would open up and swallow her and has since learned all about bleaching, tweezing, and waxing of facial hair ;)

DS is now 15 and loves to tell the story of how he embarassed me in line for Dumbo :sad2:

OMG hahahahahaha. :rotfl:

I didn't hear this in a park, I watched it on youtube.:surfweb:

A family enters the Magic Kingdom. While walking down Main Street, they say they plan to ride Splash Mountain first. The family turns right and walk passing Buzz, COP... I'm watching and thinking maybe I misunderstood. Maybe they are going to Space Mountain. Nope, they walked around the whole park. :rotfl:

Judging by the crowd, it was very hot that day.

While in a bathroom at AK I heard a woman say to her friend "I can handle Tower of Terror and Space Mountain, but those self-flushing toilets scare the crap out of me."

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:
My grandkids are scared to death of those toilets too! but will ride anything!!! :lmao:
