People that Stayed at SSR. How was it compared to other DVC resorts overall (food, rooms, atmospher, location, transportation, comunity hall...)

the resort was only opened the day we checkeked in may 17 we were told that they only had 70 rooms open so this ment that there were few people about for the first 2 days only us in the pool most of the time this helped as we invited some family over who were staying at pop century (we checked with frount desk and they said it was ok just before any one shouts)

just a few faults no mugs as they had not been deliverd no chalk for the pool table as they had not been deliverd the childs play area next to the quiet pool was closed due to a handrail not fitted and waiting to be deliverd.there was a small problem with a stagnent pool next to the bridge there was a lot of green fly was told that they were contantly spraying and will try to get it running for later gests when resort complete it would go under bridge round the 3 blocks there they could not open it up because of the constucion going on there

We only stayed 6 nights room was great seamed bigger that BC stuidio.View was superb of downtown disney unfurntuatly i could only manage 11.30 (jet lag and not the beer) so was unable to see fire works. enjoyed our stay an would defenatly stay again as we like to have a walk in the evening so it is easy to walk to DD and back there

Great Resort.

Great Pool.

No real restaurant. Just counter service. :(

Great view of DD (this wil not be the case for most of the resort)

Compared to other DVC's, it compares favorably, but IMHO each one has it's own flavor so each has it's own supporters and detractors.

I'll stay again, but personally my favorite is the WVL's.

I cant vote fairly because it was the first DVC resort we stayed in. We checked in on opening day May 17 - and the resort was pretty empty. We had the pool to ourselves for the most part, very quiet.

Loved the resort - will certainly stay there again, but we want to try the others. We were very happy with everything from the service, to the theme, and the layout (other than the boat launch).

It is a great resort

This is amazing!! We may have a winner.. I am stunned this many people think it is the best of the resorts.

SSR was just great! We had a wonderful time. We were there for one week and checked in on May 21. We had a two bedroom and it was huge with the great new pull-out foam couches. The view of DTD was amazing, saw the "fireworks" at night from our room. Loved the pools.
Only complaints:
Bus service was not regular at all, but I am sure this will improve with time and more guests.
Food service wasn't that great, not much selection.

We enjoyed SSR, mainly because it was new, beautiful and uncrowded. I don't know if we will have the same opinion when they get it all developed. It is very spread out and there will not be that many of the units that will actually look out over Downtown Disney like Congress park buildings do. We loved the quiet pool in this area because it was beautiful after dark to swim and look at the lights of DD.

The busses were the pits. Came very infrequently and we rode with lots of people that were staying at the Windham hotel (which is accross the street from the back entrance to SSR) taking the SSR busses then walking on to their hotel. We did not like the location as well as staying at BCV or BWV because at SSR you are not close to any parks and it takes a while with the busses to get to anyplace, even getting to Downtown Disney was a hassle. No sidewalks are open to get to DD so you have to cut through construction and grass to walk there. The water taxi stop is not located close to the buildings that are open, and the water taxi came very infrequently, it usually passed us up because it was full from picking up people at OKW and Port Orleans. Hopefully all the transportation problems will soon get resolved when more guests are at SSR. Right now we felt SSR guests were getting overlooked and ignored because there are not that many guests staying there yet.

It is a nice resort. The food court is definitely of value

I thought the boat launch, had ackward location

I was extremely dissapointed with the POOL!!!!!
I cannot stress this enough.
I think I am in the minority on this issue, so please do not flame me.

Kansas,

What's wrong with the pool? Spill the beans! too small? We'll be there soon and I know I'll be needing a decent pool as I'm pregnant and not liking heat, lol.

I would hope shortly that the bus drivers at SSR starts to check ID - hopefully that will discourage the Wynham from sending its guest to SSR.

did you complaint to the manager about non-WDW guests using your WDW transportation.

remember the tickets are only for theme park transportation (going from MK to EPcot or studios or AK) - not hotel to theme park - those are surpose to be for guests of those hotels only.

I would definitely complaint to DVC about this use of your buses - I say yours buses - because you are paying for them with your annual fees......

The pool was zero entry which is nice for the little ones and the Donald Duck sprinkler was cute. I hear the slide is nice. You can't tell because most of it is hidden in the rocks. But I would have taken it for a quiet pool, not the main pool. I have never been to the other resorts so I have nothing to compare it to. I see they have other pools in the works.

I did tell the front desk several times during the week about the bus passenger problems, they seemed at a loss on how to handle the problem. I was told that they would inform their manager.

As for the pool, the theme pool is the pool that I think there are concerns about. It is very small for the size of the resort that SSR is going to be when it finishes. It was already busy with only 1 building open. The pool by Congress park is very nice and was never crowded, our favorite. There is one more pool on the drawing plans for other areas being constructed, hopefully, they will reevaluate this, because one more will not be enough.

Please email or call Member Services about the bus situation. I have no idea why Disney thinks it would be a big deal to ask for ID.

I know members would gladly do this to prevent the abuse by nonDisney resort guests using the buses.

In my opinion they could have security intercept them and not allow them to even reach the bus area. I mean it has to be obvious they are walking over.

Hopefully the pool was not already crowded due to people from the Wyndham using it. I can't imagine one building being open would over crowd it.

The resort is really beautiful.

We were there 5/30-6/5 and had the busses to ourselves so I think the Wyndham problem has been remedied. We also had the pool to ourselves on several occassions.

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention yet and I almost forgot was how hot the elevators were. Did anyone else notice this?

We're staying at the Wyndham this Saturday night pre-DVC. I'll be listening out for comments about using SSR buses!
